Is a 2024 Wrangler Rubicion Really Rated to Tow 5,000 lbs : It DEPENDS
In this video I discuss which models of the Wrangler Rubicon are actually rated to tow 5,000 lbs, and what options remove that 5K tow rating. Only two models, the stock 4 Cylinder Turbo with the automatic and the V6 with the automatic with 4.1 gears and 33" tires are rated to tow 5K. If you choose a manual transmission, the Rubicon X model, the 4xe, the 392, add-on the xtreme recon package, or upgrade to a higher diameter tire or gear, you lose that rating.

    WOW. Time to sell my Pedal Commander!! This easy procedure CURED my seriously terrible , soft or DEAD pedal feel. I'm not kidding. Had i found this prior to purchasing the Pedal Commander, I would never bought it. And perhaps I would not be throwing P2138 codes and scarring the living heck out of the passengers in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler -w hen it loses all control and goes into "Limp mode". And to address one of the response below saying that this is " placebo effect" YOU. ARE. WRONG. This 100% changed the sensitivity of the Gas Pedal. NO Doubt!. THANK YOU. Ah man.. that is so cool. I probably need to redo mine again as i've recalibrated for a tire change. I'm so glad it worked for you!! I have been wanting to try the Pedal Monster, since my larger tires have taken some of the oomph out of the engine it seems.. but maybe I just should take my own advice. I'll take my beers tomorrow nite please !!

    i found were the hinges bolt on the door there is a aluminium plate with steel nuts pressed in it that rusts with the bolts and if water gets in will eventually put bits of steel rust inside the door that could cause corrosion to start i posted what i found in the facebook group but because im from australia the basically made fun of me i actually repair the corrosion panels because they are not pitted hear it’s bubble of white powder

      Interesting. I actually took off my doors yesterday and saw some of that white powder as I was removing the bolt from the hinge (different bolt). But that got me a little worried. I don't have any corrosion (yet) and will actually have the doors off for a while using my half doors.

    it really amazes me on how USA and Canada have different GVWR rating for the same model for years. I've had a 5,000 lbs GVWR rating on my Wrangler Unlimited 2021 (3.6 L - Manual transmission) ; I can confirm that my 2019 Wragler Unlimited Sahara (3.6L Automatic) had 3,500lbs. I went to the showroom to check the GVWR rating for the Rubicon X (4 door - 3.6 L Automatic) and it was 5975 lbs. Would anyone know the reason for this?

    • @The.Garage.Studio
      @The.Garage.Studio 17 днів тому

      Are you talking GVWR or Tow Rating. The 2021 unlimited can't have a GVWR of 3,500 lbs (that's it's tow rating). The Weight of the JLU is over 4,000 lbs, that plus the payload = GVWR.

      @@user-mb4wh2xf5c A lot of it has to do with where you live and how you store the jeep. In the Southwest I see very little corrosion because of the dry climate. If the Jeep is in a wet envirionment consistently, especially salty roads or ocean, it's is much more likely to happen. You could look for a used one in the soutwhest. I got a 2021 Sports for like 27K with no corrosion. I'm confident I will not have any issues.

      @@safitz7863 it’s not stupid, it’s solid advice and I’m trying to help people out. I have been daily driving a Jeep JLU for years, and I frequently meet people who regret their purchase because of death wobble, vague steering, wandering, “unreliability (it’s actually very reliable on the trail), or even silly corroded hinges (that happens to all Jeep models), because they were buying it for the wrong reasons. It’s actually a pretty terrible dd, compared to other options. All I’m saying is, if you would consider dropping 20k to fix some corrosion on your jeep, to keep it looking sharp for city driving, you might want to reevaluate the intended use of your wrangler, so you don’t have buyers remorse. And you know as well as I do, there are plenty of people who regret buying a Jeep and call them junk. Also, there are plenty of vehicles like it, now, that offer more comfort with most of the capability. Bronco, land cruiser, land rover, grenadier, 4Runner, g wagon, etc. My comment wasn’t criticizing this video, I was trying to complement it and help new buyers. These are things I wish I knew when I was shopping for a JL. I don’t regret my Wrangler at all, it’s the best vehicle purchase I have ever made, but it will be a dedicated camping rig and I wouldn’t buy it again as a dd if I had a family. Have fun trolling people on the internet and calling them stupid.

    I'm an auto body tech and I did one of these warranties nearly every week for 3 years. Another spot the corrosion can happen is in the top of the window channel. If you roll down the window and pull down on the rubber where the window would slide into, there's a seam where the outer door skin is crimped to the door shell that will often corrode. The repair process Chrysler told us to use seemed like more of a band-aid than a fix.

    JL is a joke. Paint/corrosion issues,faulty chassis welds, common to have infotainment problems/freezing. FAD looks like it would weaken front axle housing. TJ is terrible on gas my 04 rubi 5spd gets 12.9mpg, bad for rusting out if exposed to salt. JK has some electrical issues like the JL, both of them have the 3.6 rocker arms that wear out and destroy cams to best of my knowledge. I have had 2 TJ's and they are great but they are getting old, if you are looking at one with any rust, especially in a salted roads in winter state, I would pass. The TJ frames rot out from the inside, and same with body. Have seen multiple rotted out TJ frames and tubs, 0 JK's, and the JK is way more common in my region. I think the JK is best value for most people. I would love a 2.0 turbo engine, 8speed auto or 6spd manual, tj body, on jk frame suspension and axles!

      Yeah, all the platforms have some issues. I got the JL, and so far am happy with it. No corrosion, the Turbo engine is torquey and love the 8 speed. A lot of the electrical issues come down to the auxilary battery unfortunately. The stop/start system and the auxilary battery was a real genius of an idea.

    Thank you for this great video. I'm the original owner of a 2020 Sport S Gladiator, which was registered 8/24/2019. I'm in VT. It didn't get driven much on winter roads because of lockdowns/ work from home/ family caregiving and then some health issues. It did get carefully lanolin (fluid film) undercoated in 2019 before its first exposure to road salt. But it has lived its whole life outdoors. I haven't noticed corrosion yet but life's been kinda nutty and I will examine it carefully during the next week or so. If I'm lucky enough to NOT have corrosion at/around the hinges yet, is there a "prophylactic" measure that I could do like trying to "wick" FluidFilm (lanolin in mild light petroleum spirits) in/around the hinge perimeters and hope that the lanolin creeps into any open space and repels water from seeping into any open space? I'd rather have smudgy-looking hinges than corroded hinges and I'm right about to go off the 5 year cliff in barely a month. Thank you again and I'm going to try to look for the Facebook group, though I have, before now, totally avoided Facebook groups. Thank you so much for sharing the alert and info on this!

    The TJ isn't great for an only vehicle, it's more of an RV imo. I've own mine (97) 26 years and it's still going strong. I have more comfortable SUV's (Subaru / Nissan ) but my 97 Sahara and 2005 LJ Rubicon are just plan and simple open air fun.

      Didn't notice that, but all Wranglers are kinda noisy on the freeway. Love the ease of the Skytop though and when combined with sort sort sunshade, it's just awesome.

    Thanks for the video. Unfortunately I bought the alien for my 2024 before it was a known issue. They refunded me no problem though. I’m wondering if the 2 piece spiderweb would solve some of the flapping issues, particularly over the sound bar.

    • @The.Garage.Studio
      @The.Garage.Studio Місяць тому

      Sorry to hear that. I did mention that i my video. Could be that the spider web 2 piece design might work better than the one piece. I really like the spider nub design. It's on amazon, so they are really good about returns. I returned my spiderweb 1 piece with no issues.

    I have a 2024 Bikini Blue Rubicon X. I bought the Mopar sunbonnet and it does not fit the 2024. The holes have been relocated from 23 to 24. Why? Because JEEP. Just Empty Every Pocket. 😂 So far, zero sun shades on market work with the 24 and up Wranglers. My dealership told me it would fit, the wording on Mopar site suggests it works too. Nope, not happening. I couldn’t get it on, then two deal mechanics tried, and the dealer principal (Owner of dealership) and yeah, no fits.

      @The.Garage.Studio Місяць тому

      The spider web shade should work on the 24's? I did a review comparing it to the Alien. I didn't really like the 1 piece design (too much flapping). I'd try the 2 piece design. It's on amazon and you can always return it.

    I don't know. From the start it was JL...JL....JL. Not really a comparison, but more of a "look at this JL." My JKU is awesome driver both highway and city and isnt a brick. And the benefits you are saying are automatic jeeps and not manual jeeps. Nice selling the JL video, but not a comparison video.

    • @The.Garage.Studio
      @The.Garage.Studio Місяць тому

      It's not really a comparison video, the title is about the top reasons to choose a JL over a JK. I like the JK's as well, but I love the 8 speed, the turbo engine, and the driver safety features on the JL. I agree, the manual transmission on the JL has no improvements over the manual on the JK. I'm done with manual's though. Nice theft protection system.
