I'm using your tutorials to learn & work out knots for a protective sisal or jute rope braid I'll be mounting on the edge of medieval shields! I figure, if I'm going to put a protective rope edge, why not see what braids experts like you might use. I haven't got the rope yet, it'll likely be 6 mm diameter, I'm practicing with 3 mm macrame cord. I have to experiment with both the braid design itself & the attachment to the shield. Either I make a braid of some kind, then tie it to the shield, or I braid/knot the rope onto the shield itself. I think I want to do the latter, but seems like the more difficult path. If you have any tips, comments, ideas or suggestions, I'd be delighted to hear them! Either way, thanks so much for your clear, descriptive & simple videos. They take the terror of learning something completely new to me & turn it into the joy of thinking & being creative when I would otherwise have something boring.
