Situating Pacific Barkcloth Production in Time and Place / A Living Tradition: Expanding Engagement with Pacific Barkcloth
'Situating Pacific Barkcloth' and 'A Living Tradition' are Arts & Humanities Council-funded research and follow-on-funding projects based at the University of Glasgow. Since 2016, project work has aimed to transform our understanding of Pacific barkcloth through research into the historical, cultural and material significance of three internationally important collections: The Hunterian, University of Glasgow, UK, The Economic Botany Collection, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, UK and The National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, USA. Impact and engagement, focused on disseminating research findings, is also an important component of the work.

Thank you for showing this process! I was looking for a form of cloth material available to a limited resource island community in the book I'm writing and found this, I was blown away at this tradition and how common it used to be among all these different Island communities!
