It's an odd thing because if robots have all the jobs then will they start consuming products and services? At the same time as like Friedman said, it's not smart to dig with spoons. So maybe the government will help the average man and we'll get another land grab or grants to revitalize rotting towns. since frankly we don't all need Teslas, 70 inch tvs...

This is a good thing IMO. But we need to move on from the idea that everyone has to work full time. It has been inevitable since the start of the industrial revolution that people would be replaced in producing things. We need to move on from "jobs" and chase self actualization.

Samsung Odyssey G9. I just use it for work and honestly I love it because I can have multiple instances of Rider open and have chrome open while im programming. It's a HUGE monitor though and weighs a ton, so you need a massive desk if you plan to put it on your desk lol. I have it mounted to the wall because my standup desk was starting to lean backwards because of the weight lol.

Being picky about repo standards are fine. It’s just really annoying when someone doesn’t like the style of something, but it is perfectly reasonable. I had a guy that used to complain because he didn’t like ternaries. The code was fine, he just preferred not using them. That’s the stuff that’s annoying because it’s just personal preference. Everyone has personal preference, but few personal preferences should be expressed in a code review IMO

    • @StephenSamuelsen

Idk. All the physical manual labor jobs are still the same. I pick up and deliver bagged debris containing asbestos, mold and lead. Sometime I gotta climb stairs to pick up 50 bags and put them in the box truck. Then take down plastic on the walls and pull out the staples that held the plastic sheets up out of the walls. If Ai can do all that and adapt to different scenarios. Then I’ll be scared

This is a bad take. Automation is not a new concept. It’s been happening since the Industrial Revolution. Jobs evolve every time, this will be no different. There will be a period of adjustment but the jobs will come back when big tech realizes AI cannot write their programs for them. Anyone who thinks this have never used AI to program

automation isn't the problem. it is the centralization of wealth into just a few entities. gone are the days where someone could get a job at the local butcher and support a modest family and lifestyle. we should embrace technology and automation, but we should vehemently fight against the political powers that allow too much centralization to occur. but since that will never happen, try to cope with modern existence in a non self destructive way

Agile in most cases is an excuse not to think. We add features or change software on a whim, because otherwise we're not being flexible. That's great situation to be in for non-technical people. Points are a great way to game developers "good boy" upbringing into pushing as many points as possible to the detriment of their career, software quality and users. All of this is made possible by free money either VC or government and monopolies. Money is drying up and we have layoffs & overall lack of opportunity in the field.

Automation should make things easier...people should be more free to socialize, learn, and enjoy passions... But why does justice cost so much money? Why does education cost so much money? Why does healthcare cost so much money? Why does the cost to live cost so much money? Why do certain positions pay so much money? Because money is being exalted over life, and many in positions of power want to stay at the top. It benefits the government/big companies/schools if people 'need' money, so many of them don't want things to change or they say it can't change. Furthermore the system is all they know so they follow is blindly and wholeheartedly. Although there are those who agree it needs to change, but they don't know how or feel they have the power to change it. Money is the root of many evils..'Giants'have returned to the land. Greed and hypocrisy have consumed the ways of the people. They heap up heavy burdens to lay on people's shoulders, burdens they can't carry themselves, and they are unwilling to help. They make the outside of the cup appear clean, but the inside is dirty. "Peace! Peace!" they say but they make war. "Freedom! Freedom!", they say but they opress the people by putting work/money over life and charging them interest on the things that they themselves have withheld and stolen. A thief comes to kill steal and destroy. But Truth/Jesus came full of grace and truth and life. The world has been following a lie. A false testimony made by man. The way the system determines/governs "work" and "education" is the problem. People should be freely educated and energy should be focused to find real solutions to improve life. The system is a lie. They control the supply and they control the demand. Life is greater than money but the system puts money over life.. -Everyone can have what they need. -Greed is the problem, not the lack of resources or people willing to work. -No one should be a slave or feel helpless We need to work for true bread. Food that doesn't spoil. It's the greed and sinful ways of the world that creates poverty. Wicked shepherds, many in positions of power/places of authority who are supposed to tend to the sheep, have plundered the land and scattered the flock. They stored up riches for themselves and have hidden and forgotten the truth. The greater is supposed to serve the lesser. It's like 'Exodus 5:4-9', where Pharaoh reduces the supply of bricks, but increases the workload to keep the Israelites distracted from the truth that they are slaves. During that time, the Israelites became so use to the system that they didn't even know they were slaves or they accepted that's just the way it is.They were decieved and lied to about their history, so that they forgot who they were and where the true foundation/provision/strength came from. They became strangers in a strange land. The fig leaves/money/gifts are used to cover the nakedness/lies/hypocrisy. But the kingdom of God is truth and righteousness. True payment isn't money, true payment is of God and is wisdom and understanding. Wisdom dwells with love and truth. Life and life more abundantly. "This is truth, that they know you the one true God, and Jesus Christ who you sent." There are people who love to farm, people who love to cook, people who love build, people who love health and science, people who love to teach..there would be even more if we focused on the things that matter. If people are working but justice, love, mercy, and honesty/truth are being disregarded, then what is really being done? They try to make the outside of the cup appear clean, but the inside is dirty. The former should be practiced first and then the latter. What is the work that God requires? Believe on the one he sent/truth. "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all these things will be added to you."..because in Truth God gave all things freely. Jesus Christ/Truth came to testify/judge not to condemn the world but to save it; because the world was judging and condemning and claimed that its wicked ways were right, by misunderstanding and following traditions and lies. "If you abide in my word/truth, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." "My peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give unto you. Let not your hearts be troubled and don't be afraid." "There is a place for you in my kingdom." "Love eachother as I haved loved you." The Battle Is The Lord's.🔥

having no work or less work is a really good thing. you can hang around be creative, explore "being", and get into higher spheres, etc. This is a bright future (for me) So, why do people fear ? Because they unconsciously know that their only purpose is to be slaves that serves a system that is not made for them but for an elite. Once their job is done they (you) are useless for them. Then you can receive your "injections". for health of course. 🙂 it's your choice to be free and to fight for being without purpose. having all the richness of what mankind reached.

Don't get too attached to your buggy whip making job. Careers will come and go. Be prepared to pivot. People who insist on sticking to a career will be left behind (telephone operators, travel agents). The best part of my Electronic Engineering degree wasn't the piece of paper (as so many non-degreed engineers state), but that I learned physics, math, chemistry and a bit of psychology and sociology. When I come across a new field, I try to understand it from first principles. That 17th century physics still explains a lot. Anybody who cooks is involved in chemistry. Money is a number. Borrowed money and people are the ultimate leverage. Know how to use both. That's how you get the 10X return When I retired, I became a financial investor, whether I liked it or not. You don't understand an investment until you have cashed out and paid taxes on it. Had to take care of my nest egg.

What you see is a chainsaw replacing all those people who used to cut down trees with an ax. What you are not seeing is all the houses that were then built more cheaply due to the cheaper access to wood. Everything that gets automated helps society at the cost of some jobs, this has been going on for 1000s of years. The goal of an economy is not to have jobs, but to have things. Eventually we will have robots make everything and nobody will have a job.
