Progress in Commercialization of Biojet /Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF): Technologies and policies
The webinar covered the latest Task 39 report on SAF that was published in Q1 2024. Since the last IEA Bioenergy Task 39 biojet/SAF report in 2021, the production and use of SAF have grown substantially. In addition to the increasing availability of SAF, the number of new facilities announced and under construction should result in an exponential increase in SAF production by 2030. This has been partially driven by SAF-specific policies in jurisdictions such as the EU (the ReFuelEU Aviation mandate) and the USA (the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and state-specific SAF tax credits).
As covered in more detail within the report, there has been significant progress in the commercialization of technologies accompanied by considerable investment in research and development. The current status of SAF technology pathways, opportunities and challenges were the core of this webinar.

Synergies of renewable hydrogen and biobased value chains: case studies
Переглядів 234Місяць тому
Producing biobased hydrogen could be an alternative option for renewable hydrogen provision. Moreover, there are many biobased processes either high in demand for renewable hydrogen (e.g. synthetic renewable fuels, biorefining) or that could benefit from renewable hydrogen integration. This webinar attempts to shed light on promising biobased value chains that could deploy synergies between the...
Expert workshop: Measuring the socioeconomic sustainability of bioenergy
Переглядів 53Місяць тому
To be considered sustainable, bioenergy systems should demonstrate social, economic, and environmental benefits, while putting safeguards against potential negative impacts. This can be measured through a variety of criteria and indicators. The intensity of different impacts will greatly depend on the context from where biomass is sourced and converted to bioenergy. The literature has many exam...

Переглядів 7776 місяців тому
Fast pyrolysis of biomass has evolved into an established commercial process for liquefaction of biomass. Its liquid product is a standardized fuel for large scale boilers. Based on this success, other uses of the products from fast pyrolysis are being developed to enable a value added material use and/ or the production of chemicals. This webinar presented different approaches at varying stage...
IEA Bioenergy webinar: Treating & valorizing the aqueous phase from hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL)
Переглядів 8457 місяців тому
Hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) is becoming more and more popular as a process to efficiently valorize bio-based feedstocks, even those with a high moisture content. Besides biocrude, which represents the energy-dense product to be utilized in fuel production, relevant amounts of aqueous phase are produced, which need to be properly treated and valorized. This webinar presented some of the most...

The Earth is cooler with the atmos/GHGs/albedo not warmer. To perform as advertised the GHGs require “extra” energy upwelling from the surface radiating as a black body. The kinetic heat transfer processes of the contiguous atmos molecules render that scenario impossible. No greenhouse effect, no GHG warming, no man/CO2 driven climate change or Gorebal warming.

    1) By reflecting away 30% of ISR the albedo, which would not exist w/o the atmosphere/GHGs, makes the earth cooler than it would be without that atmosphere like that reflective panel set behind the windshield. Remove the atmosphere/GHGs and the earth would become much like the Moon and Mercury, a barren rock with a 0.1 albedo, 20% more kJ/h, hot^3 on the lit side, cold^3 on the dark. Nikolov, Kramm (U of AK) and UCLA Diviner mission all tacitly agree. 2) the GHG up/down welling, “trapping”/”back” radiating/delaying/intercepting, 100 % efficient, perpetual warming loop requires "extra" energy which according to RGHE theory comes from 3) the terrestrial surface radiating that "extra" energy as a LWIR ideal black body which 4) cannot happen because of the non-radiative heat transfer processes of the contiguous atmospheric molecules and as demonstrated by experiment, the gold standard of classical science: principia-scientific.org/debunking-the-greenhouse-gas-theory-with-a-boiling-water-pot/ 1+2+3+4 = 0 Greenhouse Effect + 0 Greenhouse gas warming + 0 man caused climate change.
