Fiat 124 Ragazzon Axle-Back Exhaust install
The stock exhaust is a little bit quiet on my Lusso+ so after rummaging around here I ordered a Ragazzon axle-back exhaust with oval tips to fill the cut outs.
Both nuts were rusted, so loads of WD40 and one was rounded. Out came the Dremel to trim the bolt and then a socket designed to take off rounded nuts did the job.
What I thought would take an hour, took around 3 hours including a trip to pick up the sockets to remove the rounded nut.
Sounds good, need a test drive to hear it properly but it’s chucking it down here in Yorkshire so I’ll wait for some better weather so I can thrash it up on the moors 🤩

The roof is over 175 years old. The house is listed. The roof leaked. What to do ..? Get it taken off, re-felted, stone tiles refinished and relaid. 6 weeks later it’s finished. Good for another 100 years. Maybe. Doubt we’ll be here to check 🤣.

When you can see well ahead and the road conditions are good, you should drive at a steady cruising speed which you and your vehicle can handle safely and is within the speed limit. That’s 70mph. Yes. 70mph. First motorway with the new engine.

Summer 2022 I bought a used Type 3 engine of FB. Not great. Broken valve springs, sludgy oil, leaky carbs. Should have walked away. Not to be beaten I got out the tools and took it to bits, leaving just the bottom end intact. No end float (phew), genuine VW cam, rods and crankshaft. New 1641 barrels, heads, pistons plus cleaned up ancillaries and it was put in the Beetle with a new freeway flye...

I bought this engine off Facebook. Disaster. Broken valve springs, covered in muck, broken fins on the jugs. Started cleaning it and got the spanner’s out, became my first ever engine rebuild. The bottom end was all good, no end float so just the top end with new 1641cc jugs, pistons, heads etc. This was the first start with the very shiny Empi stainless steel exhaust. 29th September 2020 I drove to near Heathrow to view, and ultimately buy my 1964 Ragtop VW Beetle. 56 years old..! It was restored around 2005 and has passed through several owners since, changing its appearance slightly each time.

This is a cold start before it’s first proper road test. It has a Solex Pict 31 carb at the moment, which will be updated to a Pict 34 or twin Weber ICTs later in 2023

what do you use for a the drive base, mine is a wheelchair with a simple conversion of 2 servos operating the wheelchairs original joystick

Beautifully smooth in operation, but a little noisy dont you think? I suspect that is due to using relarively high powered motors.

Hi Richard, can you tell me how you wired the motor so you can remotely control it in both directions, i want to motorise my dalek dome but am stuck at being able to make it turn in either direction, im using a flysky 6 ch trans / recv , gotta get a motor yet.. also what rpm would you recommend ? thanks in advance, Steve
