2. Where to Get the Permit:
• Gangtok: The permits are issued at the Police Check Post Office or through authorized travel agents. This is the primary location for tourists arriving in Sikkim.
• For Nathula Pass, permits are issued only through registered tour operators, as private vehicles are typically not allowed.
3. Documents Required:
• For Indian citizens:
• ID proof ( Voter ID, or Passport).
• Passport-sized photographs (2-4 copies).
• For foreigners:
• Passport and valid Indian visa.
• Passport-sized photographs (4 copies).
• Vehicle registration documents if you’re taking your own car.
4. Processing Time:
• It usually takes a day to process the permit, so apply at least a day in advance.

• Key Stops: Seven Sisters Waterfall, Singhik
• Road Condition: very bad,some patches may be rough.
• Accommodation: Stay overnight in Lachen, as it’s the base for trips to Gurudongmar Lake.
2. Lachen to Gurudongmar Lake (approx. 65 km, 3-4 hours):
• Start early (around 4-5 AM) to avoid strong winds at the lake later in the day.
• Key Stops: Thangu Valley (brief acclimatization), Chopta Valley.
• Road Condition: Rough and bumpy, especially after Thangu. Four-wheel-drive vehicles are ideal.
