Gayla Peevey - I Want Apple Bottom Jeans For Christmas (1953)
The seldom heard earlier version of what later became the child-friendly, family favourite Christmas novelty song, "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas" as it is best known today. Recorded by American former child star, Gayla Peevey, in 1953 with the original lyrics. No recordings of the original B-side called "Are My Jeans On Straight?" were ever recovered.

Jefferson Airplane - Apple Bottom Jeans (Shawyte Rabbit) (1967)
Переглядів 7 тис.3 роки тому
Rare, never-before-heard demo from American psychedelic rock band Jefferson Airplane (originally performing under the name "Jeffloson Airplane") that was to be featured on their second album "Surrealistic (Shawty Got) Pillow", released on February 1, 1967. Though the album is considered to be one of the quintessential works of early psychedelic rock and 1960s counterculture, "Apple Bottom Jeans...
I remember wearing my apple bottom jeans and boots with the fur at Woodstock and seeing these guys. They were great! Grace "Shawty" Slick really stole the show.
Coming back through my Playlist of these, this is by far one of the best recreation of the song and sync of lyrics it's one of, if not the best.
Merry Shawty Christmas everyone!
I’m absolutely crying laughing I love this band so fucking much.
I've seen a LOT of versions of Apple Bottom Jeans. Probably around 100. And this? This takes the cake. This song is so hard to sing properly, and you absolutely nailed it. And it's mixed fantastically to sound like the original. Absolutely fantastic.

Absolute top marks.
This is excellent!!! Top tier of the Apple Bottom Christmas genre
Superb.

Lol, thank you so much! ☺️
Do nothing’s gonna stop us now
It's on my list of songs! Thanks for listening. :)
Truly remarkable impression
Means a lot coming from you! Big thanks and feel free to add my video to the Xmas list as a belated entry.
@@swanderlust1955 already done!
Really amazing job, love your voice on this! Hope you had a suitably merry holiday season! 🌟🎄🤶
Thank youuuu. I tried my best to emulate a 10 year old girl with an American accent, of which I am neither. 😂 Wishing you a Happy New Year and may we all be blessed with apple bottom jeans aplenty in the upcoming year!
This is fantastic. You have to do more of these.
Thank you so much. That means a lot coming from someone as seriously talented as you! 🤗 I have a few more in the works, including the upcoming X-mas track!
Hi, a few of the Apple Bottom Jeans people are planning a project and we'd love you to be a part of it - ua-cam.com/video/Y6pX8O0hGxI/v-deo.html for details (not spam I PROMISE)
P.S. How are you? Hope you're well ♥
P.P.S. Please don't feel any pressure to make anything, but I had to ask!
I would love to be a part of this! I’ll take a look at the list of songs still available and get back to you. Thanks for considering me! 🤗
@@ThisRemarkableVessel I’ve actually been under the weather for a better part of several months. I had ambitions to make a few Halloween inspired covers that I wasn’t well enough for, and thought about Christmas ones as well, so I love this collaborative idea -! I still fully intend to release the ones I was more than halfway done working on (notably aforementioned), promise.🤞🏻 Better late than never, right?
@@swanderlust1955 ha ha ha, I never gave up hope 😉 Sorry to hear that you've been unwell lately; hope you're feeling better now, or that you feel better soon! Would be amazing to have you 'on the team', as it were 💖 btw a bunch of people have agreed to do a collab of Do They Know It's Christmas, where everybody would sing through the track and end up with one line in the verses (with everybody singing the chorus.) I'm going to do a guide track today if you're interested in taking part! No deadline, still just gauging interest at the moment ✌🏻
The edited Album cover really sells it XD
Lol, thank you. I think I almost spent as much time on the album cover as I did on the recording. 😂
Amazing rendition 👌
Thank you so much for listening! 🙏😊
perfection
Aw, thanks very much for listening! 🙏
Extraordinary 🤯 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much for listening! 😊🙏
I'd love to hear your Grace Slick Starship version of Nothings Gonna Stop us now/Apple Bottom Jeans
Thanks for listening. I will add it to the list! Trying to get on top of a few others I’ve been working on. ☺️
Nailed it
Many thanks. 🙏
this is so good, big apple is nothing compared to this
are your vocals unedited?
@@davidcuadro2488 Vocals are about 80% unedited. Unfortunately, I recorded them a cappella on iPhone and didn't have time to re-record, so had to play around with vocals a bit to match it up to the instrumental track as much as possible after the fact. Apart from that, most of the reverb came from the physical space itself. I edited the vocals in Audacity, and wanted to play up the reverb a bit more to give it that psychedelic feel, but it made my vibrato sound way too robotic, so I had to go back and resplice my raw vocals into some sections, with a bit of deamplification applied so they weren't too loud or obviously different from the rest.
Thank you, by the way, and Marty Robbins was an absolute L E G E N D.
Damn those acoustics r really fricking good, and Marty Robbins was indeed a legend, also my recording was a bit mediocre I added all that mess in the end to make it funny, I just stained his glory
@@davidcuadro2488 You sound like you can do a good falsetto, so if you want to take it beyond shitposting, look into some musicians who use that as a staple (Bee Gees, for example). I can totally relate with the recording technique woes. Having a proper setup is everything; it saves you so much trouble trying to edit out unwanted background sounds later.
This is flawless tbh, incredible work ♥ that pronunciation of "Reeboks" had me shaking with laughter
Haha, ssssssstop. Now I'm laughing at the fact that you were laughing. 😂❤️
jesus christ, this is great
Aw, thank you! Much appreciated. 🙏
