    I've been eyeing up a BUNCH of Kuretaki paints recently (I try to avoid hobbyist paint because I am trying to build a professional collection up and save myself some money) but good lord some of the beautiful convenience colours are just wonderful. So tempting!

      These are professional watercolor. The ages long argument has finally ended. They are just not Western. I do hope that some painters will get up to speed on the point. These are not student or craft grade. I have many, many brands of professional watercolor. They all behave uniquely by formula. Pigments are pigments.

    i called it as soon as i saw the thumbnail. the "quirkiest" and more focused on their own face the art youtuber, the worse the art itself is. add to that the overated moleskine sketchbook and you got the whole "i'm such designyy"gurl pack. look, stop posing for the video and zooming in your lips, it's low key uncomfy, you aren't seducing the screen any time soon, and stop it with the weird dramatic pauses in your narration. get to the point, and get better at art lol. this would be better suited for tik tok, chop it up to dazzle and pile on some filters, done.

    Moleskine in general has never seemed worth the price, at least not for their art range. That said I have yet to find a watercolor sketchbook I love. Well, I did, but it’s been discontinued. I used to use the strathmore 500 series travel sketchbook, which had 100% cotton paper, but they had some manufacturing problems and opted to scrap the range. Boo! I’ve used the 400 series watercolor sketchbook, but the texture is too uniform for my taste. I just broke into a Viviva sketchbook, but I’m still on the first page so no real review yet.

    • @diazee
      @diazee 3 місяці тому

      thnxx for your thoughtful comment, darling! Yes, I noticed a decline in quality of their other series as well. Maybe they will improve on that paper quality for their watercolor album, but I think it's time to look elsewhere, for sure. What a bummer that the Strathmore 500 series travel sketchbook has been discontinued. I haven't tried the Viviva, but I see that they have a sketchbook with 140lb 100% cotton, cold press pages (I'm guessing that's that one?). It sounds promising., I'll check it out! In the meantime, I am using the Etchr Lab sketchbooks. I broke into the cold press and it's absolutely lovely so far. I have yet to break into the cold press. Worth checking out! & I will be reviewing these in the future. Much Love, darling! xx

    These were my main watercolors for a good year or two but I stopped using them because at the time there were no pigment information and since some colors had the word “cadmium” in their name I didn’t know if I was using a genuine Cadmium or if it was just a hue. But recently I’m pretty sure they released their pigment information and turns out they were hues! I’m so happy to get back into them and while I’m sure I won’t like them the same way a did before since I transitioned into western watercolor brands I’m still so excited to use them again 😭 I’m like watching every UA-cam video about these 😂

    • @NoelleFerne
      @NoelleFerne 2 місяці тому

      @@emmahaslam1905 The hues are not very lightfast though so if you're an artist who sells original works the art will be faded and ugly within a year or two of being hung on a wall :( - cadmium is always better!

    • @feshgogulululu
      @feshgogulululu Місяць тому

      @@NoelleFerneit really does depend on the pigment being used as a substitute. I believe a lot of brands are using pyrrols instead of cadmiums and Daniel smith (which is a respected and well loved brand) has started using only hues of those colors so I believe that goes to show how strong they are as contenders. Sure they’re not AS lightfast but they’re not horribly fugitive like lake pigments 😭 not to mention they’re more affordable & safe. If they weren’t toxic I’d always go for them but unfortunately that’s not the case 💔

      Kimrick on youtube has a lightfast test for these where you can see that a lot of colors are sadly not lightfast

    • @diazee
      @diazee 8 місяців тому

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Patty. In my experience the paints have not shown any noticeable fading. However, I am aware that some sources argue that some of the paints in the 48 set do fade over time. The manufacturer also mentions that lightfastness is possible depending on how much water you dilute the paint with. Doing some more research, I've found that all watercolor fades over time, but this can be significantly slowed by framing your artworks behind conservation glass and keeping them out of direct sunlight. Also, thank you so kindly for your comment, Patty. I appreciate it.

      Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, @pinkcloud3126 I completely get where you're coming from regarding the lightfastness of the watercolors. It's true that the manufacturer states that the colors are lightfast, but may fade depending on how much water you use to dilute them. You're right in that some independent tests and reviews suggest that some of the colors are not lightfast. Particularly, shades like reds, orange, pinks, and purples. Which seems to be the case for watercolors over all. From my side, I've been using these paints at home for a couple years now, and I've been lucky not to see any noticeable fading. But you make a great point - lightfastness can indeed vary depending on factors like how much sunlight the paint is exposed to, and the specific hues used. I really value your perspective on this, and I hope my experience adds a bit more insight to the discussion. Thanks again for bringing this up!

    I sure don't know about surreal, but I do love how you have your own style that is very much your style. There isn't a leaf in sight yet, it's plainly clear you are drawing a tree. Very tree of life but in your own way. Kudos to you

      Haha, you're right; the trees probably aren't surreal. Perhaps, I should call these Whimsical Miniature Tree Portraits. Or just Miniature Tree Portraits. I appreciate you mentioning that I've honed a style. Tnnxx!
