Immortal Technique - Toast To The Dead (Lyrics)
New song by Immortal Technique called Toast To The Dead, off his newest album The Martyr, out october 27th.
#!/ImmortalTech
LYRICS:
[Chorus]
Rest in Peace
Here's another warriors song, rep this life to the fullest
Mothafucka, say yo' prayers!
For brothers who died from black-on-black violence
Rest in Peace
You ain't payin' respect when you' 'spose to
Rep this life to the fullest
Rest in Peace
This ain't for y'all, this' a toast to them
Rest in Peace
[Immortal Technique - Verse 1]
Here's a toast to the dead
If you don't drink, smoke to the head
For the freedom fighters killed by the feds
For those who died hard in the streets soaking in red
And died slow asleep in a dream choking in bed
Here's a toast to the dead for my enemies that are gone
I'm not a coward so, celebrating that would be wrong
I pray to God that your soul will come back again
So I can see you in the next life and finish it then
A toast to the dead for criminals, burning in hell
I wonder how many presidents are burning as well
Emperors, Popes, Senators, Generals
Amputees feelin' unlucky until they see the vegetables
A toast to the dead for those who I've forgotten
Written out of the history by the corrupted and rotten
Black saints whitewashed during La Reconquista
Thousands of Indios Spaniards used to conquer the Incas
F-ck a moment of silence! I need a moment of violence!
Like the nineteenth century Caribbean Islands
Long live those who came before, that paved the way for me
The warriors and scientists that came before slavery
And if that last lyric was predictable
Take your clairvoyance and apply it to your life in the physical
Presumptuous half-hearted homunculus
Self-destruction is the power without knowing what the function is
[Chorus]
Rest in Peace
Here's another warriors song, rep this life to the fullest
Rest in Peace
Mothafucka, say yo' prayers!
For brothers who died from black-on-black violence
Rest in Peace
You ain't payin' respect when you' 'spose to
Rep this life to the fullest
Rest in Peace
This ain't for y'all, this' a toast to them
Rest in Peace
[Immortal Technique - Verse 2]
Here's a toast to the dead, for all of my fam
I will never let an idea die with a man
My rhymes are like Nazca lines designed to give a view-of-this
J.Dilla's still alive as long as his music is
A toast to the dead for rap legends and pioneers
Your legacy won't be forsaken as long as I am here
Knowledge of the past and, wisdom of the present
I'll teach and leave in the hands of a worthy lieutenant
A toast to the dead, for children with cancer and aids
A cure exists and you probably, could have been saved
Sad to see, medicine divorce morality
Corporate homewreckers, pimpin' up a salary
A toast to the dead, for those that've died today
The victims and those exonerated by DNA
The only thing worse than giving freedom to the guilty
Is killing the innocent, and leavin' your soul filthy
Immortal Technique, remember me when I'm gone
I encrypted my lyrics to stay alive in a song
So you'll always keep a piece, of my spirit inside
When you struggle to complete what I started before I died
But some of you, won't survive the changes the earth makes
Swallowed by tsunamis, hurricanes and earthquakes
And that's just the first stage of 'you-can-not-reverse-ways'
And realise that we are one, regardless of our birthplace
Here's another warriors song, rep this life to the fullest
Rest in Peace
Mothafucka, say yo' prayers!
For brothers who died from black-on-black violence
Rest in Peace
You ain't payin' respect when you' 'spose to
Rep this life to the fullest
Rest in Peace
This ain't for y'all, this' a toast to them
Rest in Peace

Modern-Day Slavery Part 2.

Just a continuation of the first video I made. I know the video's longer than it should be, but figured I'd leave the whole song on there.
Modern-Day Slavery Overview.
Переглядів 41314 років тому
A little video I made about the main aspects of slavery that still inhabit the modern world. I plan on making it more in-depth in the future. I know the song doesnt fit well, but you try and find a song that covers those four topics; I'll give you a cookie.
This Is fucking tight
The dude who introduced me to glassjaw took his life earlier this year. We had an interesting relationship over the years. Started off as very dear friends then over the years we'd go on to become quite distant due to women in our lives. Funny that. There were times when i loved you and times when i hated you but you didn't deserve to ever feel that alone, Nath. I hope you're ok.
this song brings me back to some really good times in my life.
I am Caligula Glutton of gluttons Men over women Man over woman The whore over man And I'm all this takes It's not enough to say "I love all of you" And I'll stand over women Glutton of gluttons We are okay in a misguided, sadist way We are okay We are okay in a disabled veteran way We are okay Can I ever begin to imagine? I dived for the tides again I died with thieves again What did I teach you? What did I teach you? La-la-la-la-la That's where I change, right? No? La-la-la-la-la We are okay in a misguided, sadist way We are okay We are okay in a disabled veteran way We are okay So don't confuse why we put you here Or your automation for individuality A sword on my back and your neck and your wrist A notch on my belt is how you shall exist And no more no less for the greater good That's you, American womanhood That's you, American womanhood We are okay in a misguided, sadist way We are okay We are okay in a disabled veteran way We are okay
Accidently played at .75 speed and it was honestly kinda a vibe 😏
I am Caligula Glutton of gluttons Man over woman. Man of all women The whore of all man. And I'm not ashamed to admit It's not enough to say that I love all of you. And I'm aroused at your lying. We are OK In a misguided sadist way. We are OK. We are OK In a disabled veteran way. We are OK. She could not ever begin to imagine The terrible engine mind. It haunts her mind. Family of five. The engine mind. I dine with wolves again. I travel with thieves again... And what did I teach you?
Why isn't this version on spotify 😔
If this one of your All time FaVorite Songs Press Play !!!
Such a great song. I had so much fun when I saw them the two times I got to see them when they didn’t cancel because of Daryl’s stomach issues. I was supposed to see him in Head Automatica in Philly, but he had to cancel that time as well. I treasure the two lives so much. I even have a photo with Daryl because my friend used to do their merch and got me backstage at the Trocadero in Philly. It was amazing from side stage. Daryl leaves everything on the stage. He’s an amazing performer.
4:41 BRO
Still blasting gj daily and I gotta say I love all of you
Better vocal performance than the album version. Shame it cuts off
This medley has a way of getting stuck in your head… I love it! ❤️
Ahit this song is a bomb love to sing it yeaaaaaaaa
Oh Child, Deceive me Enter the same the same as I Moments pass as desperate contortions unfold Seeking placid sanity a moment of calm Cancerous anxiety and thieving doubt rain Sheltering indifference to dignify rage Begging for a line drawn in the sand to separate the prophets from the men Then bittersweet the wicked so the guise of harmony can breathe again delighted Hear me son the rivers dry again foretell the fate and lead us to the edge Let the prideful sinners bear the gold and buy acceptance Breathe again To waste away inside here The years in turn your haunting words have never left my ears My mind oh reckoning pride is the mirror through which we must break Wretched disfigured confused and distracted Down in this cellar it's cold dark and manic Clinging indifferent privilege demands You excuse your excuses, excuse your excuses And blame, you blame Fearful, deceiver, dim motives erratic This dream too ambitious this vision too drastic Choke down rhetorical scraps from the attic Forever to stand there and still just refuse to change Just change Set the nightmare alight and Dance till these flames illuminate the cause for the lie Redemption is not beyond our time
I can't get enough of this song, also I might be gay for Daryl.
It’s weird to hear it so clear with out all the random ticks on my old CD. It’s burnt in my head with the imperfections
is this misogyn?
yes, the lyrics are disgusting. daryl time and time again said he is ashamed of his older work.
@@soft-llama1530 What do they mean
And the lyrics trying cut off n under the male ? Thats was aceppted
No.
Begging for a line drawn in the sand to separate the prophets from the men!
32:33 Thank me later
I remember seeing and meeting them at Warped Tour 2003 down here in Florida and OMG. So amazing! They too have gotten me through some times as a teenager.. I have yet to meet another fan but here you guys are. 😀 not a fan of their newest CD.
I hate that this isn’t on Spotify
The demo is. It’s pretty good, too.
Beginning (Intro) reminds me of a combo between 10000 days (Wings pt. 2) and disposition. Ist bridge reminds me of Lateralus For a while its 100%unique as far as vocals, guitar still reminds me if adams, Chorus reminds reminds me of some of the Undertow/Opiate stuff Getting strong Disposition vibes after chorus (The guitar style) Some more 10000 days stuff Drums definitely sound like Danny and I like it .
2019. I still don't understand why the crappy live version and not this, got into Spotify
Roadrunner won't release the publishing and distribution rights because the band rightly more concerned in not having Daryl die of Chrohns that they wouldn't tour the full cycle of EYEWTKAS (which includes the original demo of Con and is owned by RR)
@@jbag3408 Well, the more you know!
Dude the live version has that incredible end piece though "Who is the meat, and who is the butcher?"
The "I am the f@cking butcher one? If so, you're tripping dude. That version kills
@@johnnyscifi i mean yeah... But this one it's nowhere to be found on Spotify.

I dined with wolves again. I travelled with thieves again.

It's been like 10 years that I don't listen to glassjaw. What a band, guys. What a band
Fn love glassJaw
I got shivers at "We're so cold" lol
so fuckin gooooooooooooooooooooood
Listen to an interview with Daryl Palumbo (2018) ua-cam.com/video/r1o_OPXKPj4/v-deo.html
How many versions of this song are there?
john doe 2 maybe more... one is the demo their label put out as bonus on EYEWTKAS re-release. Pretty sure they were pissed and don't like that version cuz they wanted to record it for real for worship and tribute and roadrunner blocked them saying they'd have to pay a re-record fee cuz they had a demo of it. I think this is the real worship and tribute version that was on early promo versions of the album
JMcGmusic interesting
#GJFOREVER
Can't fucking wait for nov. 28....I'm going to die happy
I mean oct. 28
dec 1st now lol
God bless Glassjaw
The years in turn your haunting words have never left my ears....
well now, what have we here.... me likes, me likes a lot.
Still one of my top 10 favorite bands if not top 5.
Alvaro I always thought as far as Long Island bands go, these guys got the recognition silent majority should have gotten.
top 3.you just don't know it yet.maybe when you get older lol 6-8 would have had more respect than a reg ass 5. this band is actually special ^_^ for even their random fans( d&co ) as I've seen have touched ppl I wouldn't have noticed any IQs to acknowledge them greatly. their music no matter what is always God with an extra O(Eye) Good! they're so great they are the wizards of Oz.'s ... sorry s clowning cause 1z with s is still more Z's with numbers haha sorry my friend s is half 8. S is female she still got two halves of eyes lol or 2 gay dude's. she's a x. with the power if she so chooses it , to say fuk it. I was the boss bitch of this now I'm the fuxx bitch of that huh these 3x ain't doing shit. haha when s come back it's to x (work) yeah y'all only sound good with suffering 100z :)
Same. Pioneers of the whole post-hardcore scene. Didn't get the same recognition that a lot of the bands they inspired got.
👌🏻
If convectuoso did end the album, would it still have followed two tabs or would have two tabs been placed somewhere else on that album? I wonder how it would have worked. Great song and a shame that all that legal craps stopped them from making the album they truly wanted. Same goes for the song Midwestern stylings which was going to appear on W and T.
fucking Roadrunner Records.
Now they record albums themselves.
I have a deep obsession with the lyrics of Rishloo.
Look up T00L. I know they are not welcome here, but still do
11,000 of those views are mine.
Samuel, you couldn't be any more right brother. Amen to that.
In a way, Worship and Tribute is a lot better than ...Silence. It has consistency and the ALL the tunes on the album are great and pack a punch. My opinion.
The way I look at it, EYEWTKAS was pure almost uncontrolled emotion and energy, Worship and Tribute was them channeling all that and really getting "in touch" with their instruments. Honestly hard to compare in my book.
Great songs on both records. Its obvious they grew from EYEWTKAS to W&T. Some of the tracks of the 1st record were written when they were 16/17 yrs old. Worship and Tribute as a complete record aged better then EYEWTKAS. I know they dont care for some of the misogynistic lyrics Daryl covered on about half that 1st LP, but the mellow tracks like Her Middle Name was Boom, When One Eight Becomes Two Zeros, Piano, the Title track, & hidden last track (Losten) HAVE aged well, and I know the fanbase would be so appreciative IF they'd add just ONE of those tracks to the current set they've been playing (I NEVER miss a GJ show in the Midwest EVER)
EYEWTKAS wasnt really a cohesive album, it was more or less a compilation of all the tracks they were playing at that time that they felt were polished enough to be on a full length. thats why they vary so much stylistically. W&T was written to be that way on purpose, a 'concept album' of sorts. they wanted to write another full length and wrote all those songs with that in mind, as opposed to just saying "hey, these are the songs we already have, lets just make an album out of them"
I disagree, mainly out of nostaglia for EYEWTKAS and all it meant to me through my formative years. Peronsally, W&T wss a letdown and never spoke to me. I love convectuoso though, I always thought it was a bridge between the two albums / eras of glassjaw, the last raw song of unkept savage angst and soaring beauty before they leaned into the expected composition and elevated production warner demanded.
Andrew's back
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand they're back, kids :).
That ending <3
As much as i love tool and i know a lot of other people do; i wish half their fanbase would shut up...
Am a tool fan but I love rishloo as well. It's the music we should love
gp4 to gp 5 files is because thats how long I've been waiting... How long have you had GP 6 for? I Don't use Guitar Pro the file opener I use another program to open gp files. Tho I hardly even come across gp6 files anywhere, most gp files you download (UltimateG or others) only have gp 4 to 5 files not gp 6, at least that I've noticed. I wasn't talking about a file opener gp 4 and gp 5, just the files themselves... Hope I didn't make that complicated :)
