I have a *very* difficult history with TfL - Difficult to the extent I'm unable to attend a relatives funeral today (We're both ex-TfL employees) for how dispicably I was treated by them simply for being LGBT _before_ the Equality Act came in - But perhaps TfL might want to consider replacing the announcement with a simple sound - Like a short beep or chirp - That's triggered by an accelerometer that's attached to the chassis? The sound will immediately follow the start of any movement, and passengers will soon associate that short background noise with an indication that the bus is about to move. 💡 An actual _announcement_ giving that info is far too much alongside stop and periodic security announcements. In the _highly unlikely_ event TfL will even pay attention to ideas from someone who's _worthless_ for being LGBT; A ride on the Las Vegas _Deuce_ will remind them just how *annoying* repeated long-winded announcements really are... 🎲

This is so old.. you can tell from the 453, the Oyster card tap thingy is in the rear of the bus and the middle. The LT’s don’t have that anymore

Any time I've boarded the bus, that's from the 60's. I always expected it to move. Don't need an announcement to say so.

I remember being a driver for London buses when this was a thing. I found it really embarrassing. They changed it shortly after so that it would only work when you selected the message from a list of prerecorded announcements. That was handy in situations of extended standstill e.g regulating your time, or heavy congestion shortly opening up to free flowing traffic. My favourite way to utilise this facility is when I was driving a single decker and too many people wanted to board, I'd play the announcement that said seats are available upstairs.

Could they not have a chime that goes off when the driver closes the doors or something? It may well, if standardised, be more recognizable, and potentially more effective than an announcement that sounds like any other. And if they still want an announcement, it could be coupled with the chime, and would have to be kept short, like 'Bus setting off' for example. Tfl are now on the verge of monotonousness and information overload of they're not more careful with their announcements and warnings.

Busses are late and TFL keep cutting bus frequency if a bus has a pvr of 13 they put it to 9 which makes the other busses take longer to come

Waste of money

All look and no substance. They do nothing existing designs cannot already do such as pantograph charging, Esteban Civic seating and non-slip flooring. Slowing down after releasing the "gas pedal" would be expected, especially for an electric bus, unless on a steep decline of course. All these 'new' buses will do increase maintenance costs with the wheel covers, lower bodyside windows and other non standard features. Also, the last time I looked, this isn't 1994 but you'd think it was with the narrow front door. Apart from these issues, a perfectly fine addition to the London bus fleet.
