I found your channel a few days ago and now I'm daily listening, your are explaining the holly fathers in the most simple way and you're picking also the most ideal teachings of them for our time.. which are very practicall and USEFULL and this is the most importent to im. If I can not use the teachings , then it means unfortunaly nothing to me soul.. a few days ago , when you were talking about silence, quiteness and that we should not talk to much and what Elder Ephraim had said about it... I was listening to you carefully and I was trying use this lesson. to pray more and not to talk , after a few hours, the (Jesus) prayer was in my heart praying without my will, I really felt a big spiritual joy and perfect peace... should God bless you brother and keep forward! greetings from Serbia ..

I’m sorry brother, but you yelling/ raising your voice in this does not help and it’s almost the antithesis of “hesychasm” and it’s very unhelpful to people who grew up in loud abusive households where a raised voice was a sign of imminent danger I hope you weren’t offended by my criticism, which I was reluctant to post, but I hope you are least consider my perspective Peace, love and respect 🌴🌴🌴

I would be very careful talking about this subject. There are many young men in our parish that need to work more!! If you can barely support yourself much less a wife and children. This is a very important topic but needs further clarification so that young men don't make an excuse as to not handle their manly responsibilities to provide. While I agree we can be obsessed with work and obtaining things just because one works long hour or hard does not automatically mean he or she is working for oneself or out of selfish ambition. One can work, and through that work it can be a sacrifice unto God and his or her community and work can be done in a prayerful state. While we do need to take time for silence sometimes a 5 minute prayer said with all intensity is more powerful than 1000 prostrations. This subject is one that really needs to be thought through. We are not all monks nor do we live in a time where as my priest put it sit under a tree all day and pray. We have responsibilities especially as married men which I am with many kids. Because of my labor which I own mutliple businesses, my wife benefits by not having to work, my children grow up in a safe neighborhood, the church receives a portion of my money along with alms which are necessary to keep the church functioning and alive! That's my two cents from a 40 something year old married man who see too many young men not giving their all and sometimes using topics like this not to pursue work or greater things for their lives.

Being a reserved and almost mute introvert, this tickles my spirit with joy lol. I'm pretty much mute and very much act as a hermit living in a very busy metropolitan city...its weirds people out but nobody acknowledges anyone here anymore anyways unfortunately.

Actually conversations between me and two elders at different times: With a monastic hermit *Me:* I have trouble at work. I keep falling into inappropriate conversations with my co-workers. *Hermit:* Have you tried shutting up? With the abbot of a monastery *Me:* Abouna, I'm struggling to pray. The pilgrims that come here are so noisy and don't respect the silence of the monastery. *Abbot, with a baffled smile, throwing his hands in the air:* But you don't shut up! All these monks speak in riddles. I don't understand what they're trying to tell me...

Even when we rebuke group of people when they do evil destroy our world, should we stay silent. I wish you could advise me on this. thanks

I absolutely adore this teaching. I was so moved by finding everything I ever needed in the life and wisdom of Elder Joseph the Hesychast that I actually prayed for Our Heavenly Father to help me talk less Not a few months later I caught a virus for a few days ( after not being sick for 5 years ) and I lost my voice permanently. It’s been 3 months now and the I wouldn’t trade it for the peace I have in my heart Thank you May it be blessed 🌴🌴🌴
