On a V160 when you have 1-2-3-4 gear winning and it gets quiet on 5th and 6th gear then the issue is the ball bearings of the input shaft, usually the front one that is attached in the bell housing, though all bearings & gears & couplers & synchros should be inspected when you tear down the transmission. It's not a difficult transmission to work on , problem is the parts availability where almost all parts are out of production 😮😢
