[4K] First Person Ultimate Frisbee | POV Ulti Episode 3
**To give some additional detail on the aggressive way I communicated with my teammate, what happened afterwards, and why I'm posting the clip:**
Would like to start with saying that I am extremely disappointed with how I handled and expressed my emotions in-the-moment. Frustrations built up and I did an insufficient job expressing those emotions, which is entirely my mistake. I also did not throw other open options prior to the high stall count, and traveled as well, making it a fault of my own that led our team to a high-stall situation.
After the point, I approached Eric (teammate) to talk about it and he communicated clearly that the way I spoke to him was unacceptable. I agreed, apologized for allowing my emotions to boil over, he accepted my apology, and we discussed what our perspectives were during the point so we could be on the same page from a tactical POV in future points.
I am extremely grateful for Eric being open to re-visiting and discussing the scenario, hearing my perspective, and moving past my aggressive comms. He could’ve rightfully chosen to not want to engage in discussion with me afterwards, so I am appreciative of his openness to talk and settle things.
The purpose of me including this whole clip and additional detail is to highlight:
(1) intense emotions in team settings can happen, but more importantly,
(2) in the case that aggressive comms do occur, it SHOULD be the aggressive person’s responsibility to re-centre themselves, take responsibility, and extend the olive branch to discuss and resolve the issue. This 2nd step is the MOST IMPORTANT part of it from a team POV (and also human POV, imo). Bring the emotions down, re-convene to discuss, and if possible, move past it in a way that is best as possible for the individual(s)/unit/group.
Miscommunications on the field can happen due to not being on the same page as a teammate, that’s fine. Can speak about it and get on the same page afterwards. In this scenario, the bigger issue is about how I communicated in the moment for getting onto that same page. Communicating aggressively may have a time and place where it’s necessary or helpful, but in this case it was unneeded and inappropriate.
I think it’s very likely that people watching this will run into a scenario where you or your teammates’ emotions rise up, and I wanted to use my mistake as an example of how taking responsibility, hashing things out, and resolving things can look like - I did my best to immediately take ownership, discuss openly, and accept responsibility to ensure that our team was set up to be better in the future. I hope that sharing this may help you navigate any similar scenarios that you may experience in the future.
Thx for reading.

How to Improve Throwing for Ultimate Frisbee!
Hello, may I know what is the drill on 0:49 ?
Me and my friends are doing a tournament in ultimate Frisbee any tips
Hi, its a little confusing to see which way the field is going, before each cut if you could just point an arrow to which way the field is going, it would be a lot easier to follow
Wow, do you always communicate that much or it happens only on practices?
While on the field? I do it like that as much as I can in any serious game/practice (tends to drop off as point gets longer and I get more tired xD)
these vids help me understand the flow of the game so much ty
glad they're helpful!
Your look off of open guy on the break side at 3:40 offended me to my soul.
womp womp
i never play this role (im like 5'6" so 167 cm so im not considered a deep defender) but this is so cool to know! thank you! love the vids and im so glad youre still playing ultimate
You're so welcome! Glad they're helpful, and I'm glad too haha
My first team was in 6th grade, I was put on the B team since I was new and couldn’t throw a backhand to save my life. We weren’t the best in my opinion but we had a misplaced player with us who carried us to an undefeated season, but we got destroyed in the tournament. I’m still carrying on and am hoping for the A team this year.
good luck!!!
Thanks for these amazing videos!
Glad you like them!
The sideline throw is so tragic but SO real haha
ye haha it happens ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
loving the POVs and glad the shorts are back! I'm learning high-level handling and trying to make a club team and you help immensely. Thank you so much!
Glad you like them!
Is vert stack or hoe stack better for more experienced players?
hmm I'd say both have a specific set-up with certain things they're prioritizing! I've noticed more top-level teams are doing more side stacks though, since it isolates a single player more often.
FINALLY edit sorry about your achilles and i hope it heals fast!
IK MY BAD HOMIE (Ty for waiting and being patient :D)
Please keep posting these POVs! I am a handler for Notre Dame and these videos help me immensely!
Will do haha glad they're helpful :))
Ty for commenting!!
I'm super new to ultimate and these videos are really helpful! If possible, would you be able to record the videos in 60fps, even if they aren't in 4k? I feel like with a lot of quick head movements it would make it easier to not get disoriented and follow what's happening.
I'll try for the next one! Going to record and play tday :)
i'm confused by your choice at 3:16. if you're aware that it's a foul and you're fast counting, why do it? i get that you say it pressures them more and other people do it, but doesn't it create a dissonance between you and your teammates and just generally deviate from spirit of the game? love the videos
not sure what you mean by dissonance between me and my teammate! i think we all know we're there to get better as a team, and we'll inevitably face situations where that happens in-game - hence i want to put us in those situations during practice situations. i've also known this teammate for awhile so i know he's cool with it and i'm not doing it with any negative intention! hopefully that clears it up. glad you enjoy them!
@@cchanulti oh okay, thanks for clearing it up. it's good to know that you've known this person for a while so you know they're cool with it. thanks for the reply
@@Grandiosities haha ye i def wouldn't do this vs a player i didn't know - no worries, ty for askin!
keep it up goat
haha will do, thank you for the support o7 more indoor 6s content coming next week hopefully!
at 4:50 your mark gets to stall 9 after six seconds
Yeee I think 10 stalls is about 7 seconds!
Can you explain the soccer warmup drill? It looked pretty interesting and id love to try it
basically it's just two lines and you weave and practice throw+goes with the upline cuts! So the first person in one line cuts up to first come and receives a pass, then the person who threw it runs to cone and catches from other line, etc. Hope that makes sense w the video!
I am new to this game Such videos help me alot to understand how should I pass and how should I run to get the disc Keep making more
really glad that they're helpful! :) will do
Ooo yea awesome vid and way to share the behind the scenes emotions that is very real with these competitive players
ty for the msg! appreciate it and ye, sometimes emotions flare up during pracs/games and i try to handle those situations as well as i can
👏🏾
hope to see you on the field soon, sir o7
please keep up the POV content cchan 🥹🥹 recently just started collegiate ultimate as a freshman and these vids help so much

awesome footage plus it's so helpful to see the commentary on the bottom explaining rationale and critiques!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice to see Pipe at sectionals in Batavia.
haha we had a great time, thank you for the comment!
you count fast, starting the count at "1" everytime.
in my experience, that's what people typically do in the club & regional teams i've played on :)
@@cchanulti I'm calling fast count every time. USAU rules 2024-2025: 15.B.6. Fast count: 15.B.6.a. If the marker does not say “stalling” to initiate or resume a stall count, counts at intervals of less than one second, or skips a number in the count, it is a fast count.
@@morgantreeman6872 ok i will reduce my count by 1 when you do :)
@@cchanulti thank you
extremely helpful. Thanks man, i believe it's helping a lot of people improve

Love to see it! Would love to see some tutorials before CUCCs
whoops LOL mb
More hammers 😊
Haha I'll try!
Keep posting these!!
More to come!
Wow👏❤️
Cool stuff! What do you use to edit and record? I was trying to do similar stuff with my footage. Also your defensive instincts are so good
GoPro and head mount! Use DaVinci Resolve to edit. And thanks!
What's your mount setup like? I would definitely like to see more of this! I've done some chestie mount filming of ultimate in pickup and it comes off ok, but pretty shaky.
Head mount with a GoPro! And will def post more :) Haha ye I chose the head mount since I wanted to avoid accidentally bidding on it, and also show where I'm looking while on the field.
@@cchanultiI’ve used the head mount and chest mount before. Nice work!

you are travelling during a bunch of throws (especially in part 4 and 6), do you agree that i would make sense to practice establishing the pivot and keeping it until release? otherwise you might integrate a faulty mechanic into your routine
to be honest, all i can speak to is my prior experience of playing at the highest levels of canadian/US club ultimate - from my POV, travels are rarely called (even the most egregious ones) and the movements that you've highlighted in part 4 and 6 are definitely on the lower end (they don't involve curling my momentum upfield, it is just the backward food dragging slightly after the release of the disc). if you would like to put in the extra effort to completely establish a non-moving pivot foot for your hucks, totally up to you!
Good stuff, but can you make the text appear longer sometimes. It's quite fast 😅
for sure, i can definitely try! it's tough to fit in all the detail while keeping it brief, especially when things happen in quick sequence - could you give me an example of when it appears too fast?
I was thinking the same so I tried slowing the speed down to .75 or .5 and it made a huge difference for me. I would suggest trying that :)
I knew he was Canadian as soon as I heard: “get oat” instead of “get out”

These videos are great. I love how you go into detail/breakdown what’s going on in the captions
Glad you enjoy it!!
Amazing video, soooooo inspirational. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
I wish y'all would practice more so you can make more videos xD
LOOOL it's if my Achilles can keep up 😓
Keep it up! Really enjoying these, really insightful. Thank you
Glad you like them, and will do!! No prob haha
absolutely love these videos. Also, what was the achilles injuries, i'm rocking tendonitis in both of mine atm
ah I'm glad you like the vids!! Injuries are likely to do with overuse and strain, but working with physio has been teaching me that it might be caused/worsened due to underactivating glute mead (and rest of lower body chain + core) 🫠 it's a tough road but part of the journey I guess
Appreciate the info. Good luck on getting healthy and keep the videos coming
Love these videos!
Glad you love them :D more to come!
@4:33 you can see the thrower's weight is on the wrong leg; that's why the pass goes awry. If you're gonna throw-and-go, or really anytime you're throwing while in motion, you have to pay extra attention to unweighting properly. We always want our weight going AWAY from the throw; if your weight is going toward the throw, it's easy to lose control.
Jesse Shofner's Callahan video from wayback has a TON of great examples of unweighting properly on the move. If you watch you can notice her second-to-last step before the release is often SLOWER; she's making sure she's set, even if just for a moment, before she throws.
the mistake they were talking about was that the thrower thought the person he was throwing to was on the field LOL (the guy was actually on the sideline), so just a quick turnover.
@@cchanulti oh LOL. well my comment stands. l m f a o I thought he was throwing to the guy on the inside lane 😄
@@cchanulti love your short range backhand release, btw! c r i s p y
Do u have any tips for getting a better vertical and getting faster?
haha short answer is gym, run, and jump more xD but in terms of improving structurally for getting faster and getting a better vertical, breaking it down to basic movements/patterns is prob a big part of the process. e.g. As and Bs for running form, plyos for vertical and then adding in jumps. I'd suggest asking someone w a more kin/trainer background for more info!
So cool to see it POV. And reassuring to see that what you’re doing in the vid is what I’ve been doing on the field, so I know I’m doing some things right 😂
Haha glad you're enjoying it ☺️
