Fall and Winter hunting jackets: Born Primitive Tundra and Tundra Light Puffy review
Hello. So, once again, a review without one word about the fit. Literally, the ONLY thing a review should be about . Anyone can look at the pictures, and read about the construction of them. We don’t need a “review” to tell us what they are made of. We need to know what your foot size is. What size do you wear in other major brands. What size did you buy. How did that size, fit your size, feet. That’s it. That’s the review. Not a single word, ever, in any review, about the fit. Just goes to show you. 99.9% of Earth’s population, is useless.
How is the fit? I just ordered a light in S which fits perfect, except across the pits, so wondering if I should go to the M but it worries me it will be too big
@@agustinruiz2760 I ordered a size up. Typically wear a L but knew I might need to layer at times so I went XL. It is a little baggy but not too bad.
I can't find a camo one
I can't find a camo one
I believe they retired the frog camo pattern unfortunately
When not put in the bush, could this pivot into a EDC to and from work bag with laptop transportation and such?
You sure can. The main storage compartment can hold a laptop. Lots of pockets for organization as well.
Should I size up from tennis shoe size for side bombs?
I’m a 11.5-12 and I bought a 12 with a thumb width to spare up front, which is good for when I wear thicker socks.
Great review. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
I just bought this pack also…..so far it’s been great 👍
I own the Muck apex boot, super nice. I love them, I use them for deer 🦌hunting here in Tennessee, great when climbing over ruff terrain! They keep warm sitting in the treestand, but I'll have to say there has been many morning🌄 where my toes frooze wearing them, they didn't insulate more like I'd liked! My toes were cold 🥶 in temperature 🌡 in the 20's and 30's
The solution to the door is a clothes peg
A small chip bag clip is a good short term fix for the flap falling at the top.
Solid idea!
I live in Florida and over the weekend me and some buddies went shooting in a pasture. It was muddier (and 💩) than I was expecting. I didn’t have nearly enough coverage as I should have. Just purchased the Dive Bombs. Should be perfect for my needs.
Is it quite
Yes
When I carry pack usually during rut when I might need extra layer at some point extra gloves maybe some scent spray calls so don't need alot mayb snacks
Muck and Xtratuf both only lasted a couple months. Both would crack at the toe end. I feel ripped off! Come to find put Xtratufs aren't even made in America anymore
I liked the video
I have the dive bomb boots I'm in south east Louisiana and I wear them year around. They are the most comfortable rubber boot ever
Agree. I love them.
Glad I found your channel Nathan. Just purchased one during their labor day sale. I have a rucksack I guess it's called I use for duck hunting just to throw some of my gear in, but this is a true backpack. I will have to get used to the fact that this pack doesn't close up completely with that tripod system they use. I guess all their packs are made that way. thanks. .
Glad my video helped. The back tripod pouch takes a little to get use to, but you can do some creative things with it.
Curious. Could I fit an 10.5 foot euro rod?
I like how he ignores the 6 in of loose string hanging through the vent around 13 minutes
Some scissors and its gone ✌🏼
After being stuck in info paralysis, this video sold me on my final decision. Thank you very much for the solid review. P.S. Nab yourself a good bottle of Michter's 20 yr bourbon. Their other small batch bourbon - whiskeys are excellent as well👍
Been there my friend. Glad I could help. I love Mitchers, I’d be sitting good if I could find or afford a 20 year bottle 😂
Lolol...wouldn't the vast majority of us outdoor lifers and in house audiophiles😉@@shippadventures
I’ve had one for about a year. There’s is a few little things that could be easily changed to make it perfect but not a big deal at all. I think the best thing about it is its strength to weight ratio…. This tent is really strong and weighs only about 5lbs. I have two other mountaineering tents that are maybe a little stronger but both of those weigh 10lb or so!
agree, one of my biggest peeves is the string/cord to hold the doors open; not a deal-breaker, but not ideal in its current iteration. I reckon the rest of the tent is basically flawless.
@@IgnacioGlezCllo Yeah! That’s annoying ….. it’s funny how almost nothing is ever perfect with anything….😉
Sweet video! I would recommend using a Quick Detach Stabilizer mount (standard bee stinger style). Don’t get a QD that removes from the side. Also depending on your setup, you can potentially bolt directly to the sight or Riser.
I just got the same tent I really like it too..
Hi what space is on the inside of the upper section. I've got two 4 piece rods approx 80cm in tube.
What color is the venture divide? Thanks.
Ash
how would this do as a edc/photography bag? is there a spot for laptop?
I can fit my smaller Macbook Air where the water bladder holder is. I also fit in a 24-70 and 70-200 in the main compartment, I do suggest keeping them in some sort of padded storage holder they typically come with. In the very front pouch you can put 2 mirrorless bodies if needed. Plenty of pockets for extra batteries and such. Bag just doesn’t offer the typical padded protection a true camera pack does.
Nice selection of spirits behind you 👍🏻
Through airport checked or carry on?
Checked due to the length, has a place for airport locks on it.
RIP XV 26.5” c2c 100gr point, 50gr victory shock, Elkshape wrap, 3 AAE airazr pros= 375 with roughly 17% FOC
How do you like the Airazr pros?
@@shippadventures so far I can tell they are the same size and profile of the Max Pro’s but a stiffer material. Still have some testing to do but pleased with them
If you were looking to go light and little less expensive but weren’t necessarily going to hunt with the arrows, why didn’t you go with 300 spine RIP XV’s? They come in at 7.1 GPI and come with light components. They are also 5mm, so better in the wind. .001 shafts are like $130/dozen. Just interesting to see folks talking about “light” TAC arrow builds using Easton, when Easton doesn’t really compete in the GPI category with Victory. Wouldn’t the XV’s just be a lighter arrow, with a smaller diameter, at a better price point?
Solid point no doubt. With my background shooting the Easton Hexx arrow and really loving that arrow for the weight, performance, and price it felt like more of a comfort decision with my past history. However, I’m not married to any specific brand of arrow and I’m always open to exploring new options. I do really love my RIP TKOs for hunting and that was a route I considered going down. I also wasn’t aware of the XVs to be honest. All the comments here really lead to that arrow. I will pick up a half dozen and see how these shoot for me as well. Thanks for checking out the video.
@@shippadventures one advantage that Easton has it that they ARE made in the USA. I believe victory uses Mitsubishi’s carbon expertise and factories out of Vietnam.
🇺🇸
Cut 2” off the shaft which will increase foc and stiffen the spine and drop to 100gr field points
I’m cutting off a little more of the arrow to stiffen it up a little and drop the weight. Thanks!
Yeah, use a 100gr field point to bring you to 385gr lol you'll still have decent foc plenty good enough for field points and foam targets.
Im shooting 31" c2c 300 spine rip xv x vane 1.5" with 100 grain glue in point sitting right at 343.3. shooting a bowtech reckoning gen 2 at 32.5" draw
Wow. That’s nice and light.
I’ve got a 29” C2C RIP XV with a wrap, 3 TAC Driver 2.0’s (may do 4 idk yet), 160 total grains up front, AAE IP5 nock, TAW 396 +/- a hair. If you drop down to a 100gr arrow then you’re at 385.
I ended up cutting 2” off the shaft and I’m running 125 up front now. Total arrow weight is now 375 🙌🏼
Rip xv … build them how you want
I’ll look into those, thanks for the suggestion.
That was probably the most artfully done arrow build I’ve seen on UA-cam. I’m surprised at the 340 spine shaft/125 grain head at 76#. Seems pretty underspined. FWIW I’m shooting and liking the Sonic as well. For my 3D arrow I’m using a 300 spine cut short to 27” with the stock insert and a 100 grain point. Bow is a 70#, 29” draw Traverse.
Haha, thank you! I’m with you on the spine weight. My bow tech said with the Mathew’s LIFT he’s been seeing some patterns on the arrow weights that he typically doesn’t see. We shot both the 340 and the 300 and the bow was bare shaft tuning better with the 340. Glad you like them. What did you get your total arrow weight to?
Nice. You're obviously not having any issues shooting a 340 spine at 76 pounds/28 inches? I'm shooting 82 pounds but at my hobbits 26 inch draw length and using 300 spine Victory XV's. Fast and light but man they ain't cheap. Might give the sonics a look-see. Thanks for sharing.
I’m surprised as well with the 340 spine. I’ll have to look into the Victory XVs people seem to like those a lot. Thanks for checking out the video.
Many thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!
Water bottle holders on side are too short.
They are a little short but you can use the side straps for the taller water bottles.
You said you use it for travel, would a 15 inch laptop fit in the pack easy enough do you think?
I can fit my 16” Mac Pro with no issues in the larger zip portion.
Sizing is the Sizing on the dive bomb boots the same Sizing as the xtratuf boots
Yes, they fit pretty similar. I wear a 12 in both boots and can't tell a difference.
Make one for molle webbing!
I don't hunt and I would never lv my release on my bow at a tournament.
More ideal for stand hunting or out West.
Ive had the grundens deck boss boots and they are amazing. It seems like there is a narrow temperature range where they are comfortable if it is too warm your feet will be sweaty as hell and if it is too cold and snow is on the ground your toes will feel like they are going to fall off. Might pick up a set of the winter MUCK boots if the supposedly waterproof Vasque I just bought don't cut it in the snow and slush.
Its a shame nobody makes heavier boots with a thin flat minimalist sole I hate raised heels so much they feel like shit if you have to drive a truck and do heel toe downshifts with a manual transmission.
The Mucks are great for the slushy wet cold weather. I’m rocking mine right now, we got a decent amount of snow. Thanks for checking out the video!
Agree.
Is it big enough to zip up a rifle?
Not really. I've rigged up my 350 Legend to fit in the back side that has a bottom zipper designed for tripod legs and had the gun barrel facing down. The buttstock of the gun was held in by the upper clips from the bag. Good for a short distance.
Thermarest Etherlite sleeping pad? Might want to check that brand.
Sea to Summit, my bad. I was thinking of the "Thermolite HL-1 insulation" it has and mixed up the naming. Thanks for the correction.
Nice review, thanks. Just stumbled upon your channel and look forward to seeing more gear reviews. Also I think we might have been in boy scouts together for a bit...troop 18?
Thank you! Haha what a small world. Yes, 18 out of Reidland.
Yep troop 18 out of Reidland. I graduated '04 so a few years younger than you. Definitely a small world. I can definitely see your channel growing with this content and your production quality. Good luck with the channel man!
So cool. Thanks for reaching out!
That's one expensive magnet. Pass
Can you make it cheaper for me? I don’t have a 3D printer or AutoCAD. Not sure where to source out the magnets either. How much do you charge?
Theres these things called pockets. Put it in there until you're in the stand.
@@censoredAmerican That works too
@shippadventures worked wonders for years, gonna be great innovation for future generations of hunters
Great review Nate👍🏼🔥
Appreciate it!
Any way to strap a predator platform & climbing sticks to that pack??
Climbing sticks yes. I run the Skeletors across the top of the bag horizontal and clip them with the smaller clips at the top of the bag. As far as the platform you might be pushing it. You could possibly crisscross the bottom straps through the platform and connect them to the opposing sides of the bag. Not sure how secure all that would be on the bag.
