[LKF] Shrike Class Gunboat Review
The Shrike class Gunboat was commissioned as a short range defense heavy fighter craft for LKF orbital and ground stations. They were built to be cheap and capable of countering fighter attacks.
Rarely seeing any significant frontline combat, Shrike class vessels spent most of their time patrolling near or docked to stations across the system.
In the hands of a skilled pilot, a single Shrike is extremely formidable, its speed and turning rate along with large grid weaponry allow it to outgun and outrun enemy attack craft.
Description
The Shrike class gunboat is a short range attack/defense craft. It is equipped with one gatling turret, two interior turrets and a rocket pod.
It flies on hydrogen and is battery powered, making it extremely fast and even able to keep up with most fighters.
(no scripts, no DLC)

    4:06 How do you manage to write the number? For me, you have to keep clicking and it always gives round numbers, I wish I could write the value too.

      Yeah I've got a video on the ship review playlist of an f302 that has the actual sloping downward sweep wings that the f302 has I just use some hinges to make it work

    The navis class.gunboat is worth a review. I often rebuild it as a miner or redo the custom turret with autocannons and drop a grinder on it... Great for raiding sharedfiles

    I think this needs a revisit. Theyve added target reticules and you now have the option to add small rotor or small hinge in large grid options

    I guess you could stick a catwalk on top of the connector but i didnt think of that, I just wanted to connect with the easiest view possible without having to swirl around in third person lol.. and dude, the timer block, antenna, action relay and stuff, thats just extra stuff i stuck on there cuz i could.

    Switching from grinder to welder using a hinge swinging all of 180* would be a functional upgrade. Really cool design.

    12:57 the change to 100 wont have any effect, without not enabling the custom rpm (true/false). The effect we see is just by having added more rockets to the same group. Can one change the group names to include the grid name? I guess that would need to be fitted in the script not the custom data, right? Can one have different types of weapons in the same group? Is there a switch to an alpha strike? I guess by reducing firerate below reload speed this might be doable to have them all fire at once. I also assume depending on rpm used, your dpm may go down.

      No you can have multiple groups of the same weapon type that fire in their own Salvo rate per group.

    I think they made this way easier, I can just place the 1x1 hinge head directly in place (in zero G) then run over to a terminal and hit Attach, even if it's placed against the inner side of the outer hinge

    Have you tried versions where you space out the turrets sideways 1-2 blocks? Which then should allow for better armor placement options but maybe also chould give better angles, whereby the upper once would be spaced out one more block.

      No but there are scripts that can get these turrets to destroy a rocket.

    For as much as i like avorion, ship building, and space engineers (even tho ive never played it), i dont see the point on space engineers (hence the why), like, whats the point? Yeah, sandbox and all, but even Minecraft its not just building, and even when it is, it makes changes, a house for a villagers, a yarn for your animals, and when you get enough, theres the ender dragon But what does SE has?

      I don’t speak for everyone but what I think is a big thing about space engineers is the “engineering”. The trial and error and beauty in building something that works. There’s not much beyond that unfortunately. It’s pretty barren and especially boring for most when you’re solo. There’s a different component as well. There’s a Mass of players that get together to have wars , build and work together to fight each others as factions. A ton of players building thing to build more things to help your faction prevail in war. People build large ships like this to fight battles or transport resources , people or even automatic mining drones or fighters. It adds more purpose and fun to the game giving you a goal. Its difference is building things. The small things and tweaks can be a determining factor or Fail or success.

      @@NoxYaSoxOff well then thats the problem, why not make it server wise? Or just a mini MMO? Giving the players the option to play solo seems nice until you realize theres nothing to do, and so many people either dont have friends, or they dont play SE, and if they do, their free time might not alling, but having servers than fill up every so often, or have a big server that kinda makes it an MMO would make the game strengths shine

      Yes your right and keen is adressing this in the next update. A faction called the factorm will be introduced and they are bringing new tech you can only get from them giving us one of hopfully the first of many npc factions we can engage with.

      Keen worked on mechanics first gameplay second that's why updates like warfare 1 and 2 have taken so long to get out.

      Ah yes but there is things like the frost bite challenge in game which is a full length mission that challenges you to get data pods for a company or the campaine tutorial with is a short campaine that teaches you how to play. The new update will bring us an over arching goal to complete requiring us to go to every planet to get all the required tech and we will have to deal with a persistent enemy as well so the game will change in the next few months. Also se has one of the largest online moding army's rivaling fallout and skyrim respectfully. You can have revers from fire fly attack you or you can go toe to toe with war hammer 40ks ores who will try to out fight you as you rack up kills on da boyz.

    really nice ship there badger props to creator . Ive pretty much moved away from really big builds since playing on official servers with the current restrictions is forcing compact and pcu limited ships... so thoses ships are a no-no for me but in a single player game this would be a great hauler :) cheers dude

      Hey I'm using weapon core but I don't have the weapon sequence I'd options in the control panel. Am I missing something?

    Easily, you dont and just use WeaponCores stagger fire for any amout of weapons and you can adjust delay as you like

    The idea of a hex assault cannon turret now comes to mind with 6x its normal firing rate put in the custom data there. The aim is to make a turret which fires 6x as fast as the standard assault cannon...

      It works best at 1700 rpm.

      With six auto cannons you can go that high and still have a steady fire rate if I'm correct.

      @badgerwildgaming6908 : I'm talking about assault cannons this time. These things have a range of 1400m, and I think the single cannon fires at about ten rounds per minute. I'm looking at using the script to build a custom turret which will fire assault cannons at 60 rpm in vanilla.

      Thanks man. I figure if you use it in PVP. The AC turrets can be firing backwards and you can try and blind your opponent with flares as you try to run away.

    1 part glass cannon, 1 part scout ship, 1 part communication station, and 1 part forward air controller for drones/fighters. Oh zero parts fighter and or interceptor, it will get it's thrusters kicked.

    We are not the same, you use gyros to maneuver. I use gyros as armor.

    i knew about the cockpit thing but not about the gyro i usually place my gyros pretty spread out so havent really noticed anything about it and i always place cockpit near center

      Yup it bugged me how some of my ships would be the same block count but they performed turns and pitches differently.

    So what I'm hearing is that the game engine punishes heavily asymmetrical ship designs like the Millennium Falcon.
