Today's date I still listen to The Bar-Kays feeling that old school feeling and then one of the first groups I will play I still dance to it I get a chance to they were one of my favorite groups and there's still nothing like them today I still enjoy that music I will enjoy it for the rest of my life

Of course Parliament was the real deal of Funk. We all know that but, time moved on and other Bands had to carry the flame. As a funk person myself I can go on and on with Funk Bands, Slave Cameo Barkays etc, give them their Flowers. Funk gettin ready to roll(Quazar)

I grew up listening to The Bar Kays. They were apart of the Great music that you heard your parents play while you were riding in the backseat of the car, cleaning up the house on Saturday mornings or attending a party, bbq, cookout or family reunion. REAL SOUL MUSIC

The baddest album The Bar-Kays made was too hot to stop ! Hands down that was the best ! This was absolutely good I enjoy this

Soul Finger reminds me of my childhood. mid 60's and Holy Ghost was my freshman yr of college at GSU in Grambling, La. and there after all of their stuff brings me back to that timel Love it !!!! You guys music is my life. XOXOXO

I remember the day. I remember the photos in Jet Magazine. It was so sad for everyone in the Black community. Otis Redding, 27 yrs. old was a giant of Soul music. "Try A Little Tenderness" was one of my favorites, and still is today ( Chris Brown tried). I used to play it over and over to get every nuance of Otis' singing, and the stirringly powerful sound of the band was like I was living every note of every instrument. My brothers and I sang, and my family were party people, even owning a little nightclub. Because my brothers and I were so good covering artists of the day, none of my cousins, older and younger, never tried to perform because they knew that they could not top us. We practiced our own thing in our own way, so they just watched us. All of the adults loved us. We really got into Otis. Sam Cooke had been killed 3 years prior, and although their styles were different, their performances were no less dynamic, and Otis was now considered the King. My uncles could sing, and everyone got a thrill out of us "doing" Otis. My brother was fantastically superb, leading "Dock of The Bay," which was released posthumously. We all hurt so bad. For a long time, we kept looking at the pictures of the accident. It didn't feel real. It was unbelievable. Years later, the re-emergence of the new Bar-Kays was electrically exciting and thrilling and funky. Before the accident, "Soul Finger" was the she-it! (It smoked Archie Bells "Tighten Up" a giant in its own as far we were concerned). My two brothers would burn a floor up with their dancing (I couldn't never match them, so I sat out). "Shaft" album, and all of the Bar-Kays work with Isaac, "Son of Shaft," and then the funk, "Hit and Run," "Let's Have Some Fun," "You Can't Run Away," "Flying High On Your Love," "Night Cruisin'," "Shake Your Rump (To The Funk)," "Attitudes"... golden days, powerful memories. The soft, love song ballads, my brother was a "stepper" and man, could he "step". That made me look cooler than I was, but it could not have been done without the right music. I was so glad for the return and the new Bar-Kays because after the plane crash, no one ever knew, thought, or felt that band would be back. Thank you, Brothers, for everlasting memories, joy, fun, and lovemaking to your sounds.

Typical tight, raw Detroit/Ann Arbor chording... leads arcing, jacks popping, immersive swaggering, etc. The kind of songs you can't wait to air-guitar the shit out of when you get home from the show.
