EDWARD THE TAP DANCING ELEPHANT | http://bit.ly/GiveToTheArts
CCT presents the original story and song EDWARD THE TAP DANCING ELEPHANT by acclaimed musician Ralph Covert, of Ralph's World, and featuring Time Brickey!
Edward the Elephant was always told he couldn't live his dream of being a famous tap dancer - but when he sneaks out of the zoo to meet his tap dancing idol he finally gets a shot at stardom! This charming story and song is brought to life on camera with hand-illustrated puppets by Will Bishop and green-screen tap dancing by Time Brickey.
We hope you enjoy this specially-made-for-you treat, and hope you will consider a gift to CCT. With your donation of any size, we will continue to offer professional theatre access to even more children throughout Chicago. Thank you for your support!

Why are these all black dance moves? This is not how white people were dancing in the 1980s. Why don't you show any of that? Just how most people were generically dancing like you'd see in a party scene in a John Hughes movie.

😂🤣😂 Well, excuse me: obviously I lived on a different planet back then. What is all this gymnastics like jumping moves about? Absolutely nobody acted like this in the 80s. But then again: Those who remember the 80ies did not really experience them - I did. 😁

I was born in 1965, but I’m pretty sure these were all from the 1990s, except maybe for the distinctively “white” Voguing from Madonna, which might have been late 1980s. You can search UA-cam for clips from the first “House Party” movie, which was awesome and included a lot of these more African American moves together but still likely was from the early 1990s.

The Snake is the same things as 60s Boog-a-loo. Just like Happy Feet from the 20s are called many other names later on. Charleston became Mashed Potato in the 60s. Thanks for the uploading.

This was totally disrespectful to ole school hip hop. I don't know what you did but it definitely was not those dances. You didn't do any of them correctly. You definitely need to take a class to correctly learn HOW to do the dances first before you show anybody else.

Great, except that these are all '90s dances.. (except MAYBE 'the snake' as you called it) It's also important to note that the song playing at the end is from House of Pain, a distinctly- and verifiably- '90s group.

Thank you so so much for creating this masterpiece! I just finished watching with my 6-year-old daughter as a homeschooling artist & poet mama who absolutely loves this story, and have been so inspired by it and not until this moment did I relive the moment that I saw it for the first time as a child and through my child's eyes. It's winter now and we're all little Fredericks 🥹💗🫂 I am so inspired all over again 🥲🥹👨🏽‍🎨🎨🧵✍🏽💐🫂

I did these moves at my School in the Late 90s. I mean RunningMan & Cabbage is 80s. Sprinkler & Snake I did in the late 90s. Vogue was more different we did more hand combinations close to the face like Madonna and bring em out and that song came out in 1990.

Seen as those dance moves have African Americans roots, it would have been sensible to have an African American that can still do all of those moves "correctly", to be in the video. Anyone who wants to see a good example of the Running Man, go and watch music 🎵🎶 video's from African American singer's from the late 1980's - 1993. For example "Bobby Brown". There is plenty more.
