Back to the Future parking lot scene (dialogue replacement)
I’ve been so obsessed with US Maple and Shorty lately, thank you for posting this! I’m trying to track down those records
Patrick Flanagan was the only real technician there that was not a hack job and had skills Tony has mental problems and creates all sorts of drama with people because he’s technically a horrible person but I will give him credit. He knows good tone and that’s it the goons that came in later from Tucson or New Mexico, ruined everything Krank were made out of top quality components. You couldn’t buy any better top shelf electronics to make them.
Kranks were legitimately good amps and had a really unique tone and feel to them. Shame they went under. Dimebag's death definitely shortened the life of the company. I can't believe it's been 20 years, I still remember reading the news headline on the internet that next morning and just thought it had to be a hoax.
Would love to see Krank make a big comeback one day, maybe even just officially licensed plugins or captures for modelers and IR's.
Born in '83 but I'm glad I was there for the glory years of all the guitar magazines, I learned so much straight from the players themselves. I stopped buying them around '08. I also 'inherited' my older relatives collections too and so I have mags going back to the mid-late 80s. I tried to get into _dirtbags_ 'damage plan' so-called "band" and even caught their show in Vancouver back then, but, man, they just couldn't match Pantera. Seeing _dirtbag_ then was like watching a shadow of his former self. It seemed sad.
i just got a bright green krankenstein+, its dubbed the "getcha pull edition," not sure if you or anyone else has any info on what year it was, how many were made, that typa stuff
I have one. It does what I want it to. I run eq in front and behind the amp and get my tone through it. The active effects loop does a lot. I love it. It can do lots of different styles of music.
Why tf did they kill DBD
Ha ha “MarshMalloW” 😂😂😂
This interview is fantastic, thank you so much for posting it. US Maple made a huge impact on a lot of people, myself included. Do you know if Al is doing ok?
I haven’t seen him in a few years, but last I heard he was doing good. I’ve been meaning to reach out and check in with him.
I love KRANK! Getcha pull
Even though darrell never got to play his krankensteins, his good buddy jon from shadows fall rocked them for awhile. You can hear them on the threads of life album. Best sounding krank imo
can i buy/adopt one? been a dream for years. great vid
The crank Revolution cab is still legendary in my opinion
5:29 that's not Dime
Right its marzi
Miss ya Dime 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
That was very informative. Dime wasn't just some guitar player... He fucking changed people's lives, man.
You watched phils statement though.
This is super depressing
Wow is all I can say.
Thank you for posting this, theres not many interviews with Al
My pleasure… it was a blast. Glad you enjoyed it!
Jeagles! I hope you bring this podcast back. I really dug it when it first came out.
That's the idea, buddy. I'm gonna post about it over the weekend as soon as I finish uploading these old episodes. Standby!
People say dimebag had awesome tone. But unless you saw damageplan live, you never heard him sound good. I can’t stand the pantera solid state tone
Bro what lol
Youre a goof if you believe what you said. Look at the signal chain and tell me that randall or krank makes a difference. The actual amp tone is marginally to moderately influential. Just as dime never used the randall warhead. He used it for cleans and used the randall century still.
Worst amps ever suppoeting one of the biggest pedos in hard rock diamond darrel no wonder the amps failed
Lol rita was like 80
@@Ottophil she was and is such a pig
Dude what are you talking about? Him and his girl grew up together... lmao
WTF are you talking about dude
Make the bait less obvious next time bud
I would absolutely buy a Krankenboner
Bad news is Krank no longer exists. The good news is they are easily attainable on the second hand market
They still exist 100%
@UC6wRZgCO3fXbg6qK9VzMZow i never old diamond Darrel myself as I knew him and the band from their cock rock days.make up spandex big hair and...well they were into boys that looked like girls obviously. I think if they would have owed up and admitted to the first 4 albums maybe I could at least respect him a bit but they always denied they existed in the press which is fuuuking hilarious. Anyways diamonds predilection for the boy as girl caught up with him when he died that Marines little brother lol
😂 @@HAHb-zc2dp None of that gibberish you typed up makes any sense at all.😂 Do you want to try again !? I bet you can't make it make sense even with a 20 minute head start 😅

@@HAHb-zc2dpshut up habib. Your camel is waiting for you at the 7-11
Thanks for making this. I still have my Krankenstein and play it as often as I can. Still one of the heaviest tones I’ve heard
Recently met one of the amp builders from Keanu, he gave me a tour of his house and sold me a PRS MT15 that he “Kranked up” Turned a 15W amp into a Fucking monstrosity
I doubt he did anything. That amps already 60 watts stock and lying
Jody was the problem with Krank. I worked for a local music store Boogie Music in Phx, we were one of the EARLY adopters and sold dozens of half stacks. A few of the staff were sold amps at significant discounts by Jody, as a “thank you” and to help get the name around town, we found out months later he never told anyone he gave us discounts, and put on the books he sold them to us at full price then went around bad-mouthing us saying we “didn’t pay”, dude was a complete scumbag.
This is really cool. Thank you for making this. Krank was a part of my development of my playing. Of course, I was enamored at the idea that Dime had a signature. So I bought one when I was 19. I eventually became friends with Patrick. Some of the other guys from Krank about the 19 year old kid(me lol) that bought one from West LA Music. I used to gig in local bands with it around LA and always ripped. I still have it and will never part ways with it. Long live Krank 🤘🏽
My KRANK stack still sounds AMAZING!
Hey T-Bone, this is Andy AKA skin. I was at little fat hopi/ apache dude. Always with the black/brown cargo shorts and hunger for whiskey. 😂😂😂. But Catero and Joseph Gardner, and Connley called me suck-a-cock-two-wahhhh!!! 😂😂😂😂. Best days of my life you captured. Tremendous!!!!
Dimebag loved them krank amps
4:20 Wait... 2007? Your dates are off. Dime passed away in 2004
Yeah, I realize… it’s a student film. The plan was (and maybe still is) to eventually make a feature length documentary out of it and correct some of the inaccuracies.
Krank actually endorsed my band, we got to come out and tour the manufacturing facility while on tour. Even played dimes guitar in his office ( if remember correctly) this was in like 2006 or so . Still have and play t he rev 1 and krankenstein setups. 4 cabs and two heads
KEEP MAKING THESE PHENOMENAL AMPS..ESPECIALLY THE KRANKENSTEIN!!🤘🤘..I'LL FUCKIN BUY ONE W/ A CAB STRAIGHT UP!!👍👍
Thank you for putting together such a great mini documentary. Had a question for, I have the SST Krank head and two 4x12 guitar cabinets that have the Chrome dotted covers. Just curious what speakers we're put in the guitar cabinets? Guess I could just look but didn't want to take it apart. Let me know any info would be greatly appreciated
The ones with chrome covers if i remember were the Rev1 cabs and those were loaded with Eminence V12 Legends Krankenstein cabs usually had the black covers and were loaded with Eminence Texas Heat
Id kill for any 4x12 krank cab nowadays man apparently they hit like none other
@@carnovector6396you can get pretty close old Peavey 5150 cabinets loaded up with Eminences legend V12 or a mix of Celestion H30/green backs . You could also get real close with modern EVH cabinets.
This is great video…do you still work on amps? Is Tony still doing them as well? I know he made revolution amps as well but don’t hear much about them as well.
Well, hi from Russia. I'm planing to Buy a Krank Rev Jr Pro 50W. And after couple videos about Krank i can say one thing: I'm a Krankster andd always will be)))). And i'm fine iwth that))
what song starts @ 4:03?
That’s a now-defunct band from Iowa called Bull Dyke Rodeo. I used to play drums in that band, but not on that song.
@@jeagle78 thx bro I didn't know them as most of kickass bands from US underground scene. Btw I'm a drummer too 🤙
Finally after 15 years or more got me my Krank. Loved it. Until it was ripped off along with my car after a show in downtown Phoenix. Guess it'll take me another 15years until I can afford one again. 😭
Awesome. I love my Krank Rev head!
Talk about horrible marketing tactics and after they shut down, Tony became a JERK and took out his anger and frustrations on his clients and still does to this day!!!
I’ve heard this too… I’m planning to expand this into a feature length doc if I can track down more former Kranksters to talk to me. Are you affiliated with the company somehow?
I remember the threads talking about how they posted fake reviews on harmony central. People also think that the over saturation of adds and felt like they bought off dimebag to move to krank…this latter part is dumb and I heard the same argument in the 80’s about Ibanez and recently about Gibson.
Tony is a hack job Patrick was the perfectionist
If they came back I think they would Excel and making some solid state stuff would help
Damn that really sucks... I was just curious as to what happened to the brand... I wasn't expecting to get hit with a feels train. Thanks for uploading though. It's a story worth telling that's for damn sure.
I enjoyed this so much. Thank you. I had always wondered what happened to Krank. God Bless.
Thanks Jonathan, that you share this history for us. Krank Amps sounded so Great..
Nice story man! Love Krank amp since the beginning of it. What’s that tone at 2:31, nice amp sound ! Is it your amp !
Good!
This rules! Good work 👍
Thanks, buddy!
Man, I really like this. Gomez has a great voice too.
Thanks, Tony! Much appreciated!
Hell yeah!!!
