I switched over to MTG well over a decade ago. Magic plays more like old yugioh than modern yugioh. Sadly I only recently heard about Speed Duels but it sounds like Konami is discontinuing that. I would have loved to have been apart of that during its heyday
Games should last at least 3 - 5 turns not on the 1st turn
I love this game, im replaying through it now and we definitely need another lotr game like this one for next gen
Never played it, but I ran across a PS2 a a thrift store 4 $70, so I'm getting all my favorite nostalgic games.
I am one of the guys who had OG format make part of their childhood. Always loved the games and the shows, but nowdays I just cant recognize the game i loved playing growing up.
Xyz and synchros are fine
It has less op effects, but is still a very reliable way to access the extra deck.
Played a bit of master duel and uninstalled after one guy suddenly had 5 4000 atk monsters on the board
what modern deck wins turn 1 in 2-3 min? XD
Just ordered the legendary pack that comes with the kaiba, yugi and joey decks. I am enjoying watching episodes i missed as a kid and so i ordered my first cards. The modern format seems unfun in my opinon if theres a way to have something like the classic with friends or whatever that would be cool to me. Im willing to learn and improve but that looks demorilizing to see like a million cards and a players turn take insanely long
People used the same spells and traps up until 2010. There were several staple spell/traps that were played in the main/side in almost every deck (mirror force, bottomless trap hole, dimensional prison, torrential tribute, brain control, mind control, heavy storm, mst just to name a few). 2005 goat format was even worse and you cant really use those in different ways. Each of those staple spells and traps served a specific purpose regardless of the deck you play. Its only around 2014 when archetypes became prevalent that the only shared staples were maxx c and mst. I love the simplicity of older yugioh and i still play those older formats the most, but i still enjoy modern too its just different
I can’t wait for it to be on the PS5
Nah at this point he hate himself 🤣🤣🤣
i always surrender in master duel if my opponent uses canc33ous decks like kashtira + busted cards like 2 ash blossoms in the first turn, for my sanity i just can't deal with this shi i just wanna play dark magician and blue eyes
How tf is someone using 2 ash blossoms in 1 turn? It’s a Hard once per turn once you use it you can’t use it again till the end of the turn
I remember dungeon dice monsters from the anime my mom bought me some starter kit 4 it I never played it with any1 though old school yugioh was really fun however after synchros I quit I saw that they kept adding new mechanics in the game don't fix what's not broken
I think negate cards in general are bed for the game, cool, make crazy combo decks, don't make it so other people can't play the fukin game.
They ruined a good game
Pretty much with everything, yeah. YuGiOh just became too cumbersome for me to care after XYZ monsters, and even during XYZ monsters i wasn't having a good time. I just went to have a good time with other things. A casual player might not be a loss in the competitive eyes but every highly skilled player starts just playing something they have fun with. YuGiOh lost LOTS of casual players with the things they did over the past 15 years or so.
I agree, yeah I’ve gotten a PS5, ps4 pro, blah blah blah. I still enjoy and love the ps3 even here in 2024. I just ordered this game from Ebay, new sealed never opened game for only $21. USD!! It arrives tonight and I am so excited to play this great game. I owned it for the original OG Xbox. not the 360 but original Xbox, with RGB cables output in beautiful 1080i @60fps 20 years ago!
Yu gi oh in a nutshell now Player draws Summons a monster Special summons another monster Link, xyz, or synchro summon Revive a monster from the grave or special summon another monster That monster special summons another monster Xyz a monster from those two new monsters Plays a spell card that allows you to special summon a monster from the grave Monster that was summoned from the grave allows you to special summon another monster Synchro summons a monster from those two monsters See where I’m going with this, that’s all in one turn. Rinse and repeat every time on Master Duel ranked People summon 15 times in one turn and the game is over in 3 turns or less every time
The fact that you can use your old school deck against a typical modern deck and stand absolutely no chance shows that Konami puts no effort into balancing the game so why would anyone defend this other than a dopamine induced ego trip? I don’t think the game is fixable at this point. They’re gonna have to separate formats into classic or modern play, that’s the only possible way of correcting it.
As someone who used to play comptetive yugioh and top locals fairly frequently, the power creep in this game is unlike anything else i've ever seen to the extent that it shouldnt be possible. Thats the problem. The old cards werent created with new mechanics in mind, so they let half their game fall to the wayside. Old cards and old ways of playing will never be relevant again because they can't be. I tried getting back into the game recently, but the amount of potential actions, floodgating etc possible in one turn only lead to who can fill their board first. Not saying counterplay doesnt exist, but it's just not fun to play around. No ill will towards anyone that still enjoys the game, but yugioh is just a completely different game with no appeal to fans that have been around since the beginning.
GX was the last best era of Yugioh for me, I wish master had a more old School duel mode options
Got the GX Tag 3 game last week. Been having fun I had not had for over a decade with YuGiOh.
The game was dope I wish the would remake it and add all the other characters since. Please don't forget about the dope kart racer that was in it. It's time for MK to try 3D again for sure.
You tell them! I totally agree, though. This video also aged like fine wine.
they need to remaster this game, but add more kaijus, a better story, COOP. open world where you can destroy as much as possible, and the military gets stronger overtime. AND REMOVE THE STUPID CONSTANT DIALOGUES!!
Yeah it can benefit from a solid remaster with more features and reworks to the gameplay.
Archtypes were the beginning of the end for Yugioh. Dictating how players make deck with archtypes were the first problem. Let players make their own decks. Every deck back in the day was a "Rouge Deck"
Exactly, back then every deck was unpredictable but sadly everything today is generic.
As someone who likes the film and the game, for me it was a double win
Yeah this game is a very underrated
I've been getting back into modern YGO (last time I played was 2009 lol), and not only do I agree with every single one of these complaints, you actually pointed out something I didn't even realize. I've played 1000 duels within 30 days of getting back into it (duel links, some master duel), and I didn't fully grasp how tyrannical archetypes were until you contextualized it. When I wanted to make a spellcaster deck, it wasn't viable, so I ended making a Magician Girl deck (DMG is my favorite card). When I wanted to make a zombie deck, it wasn't viable, so I ended making a Vampire deck (favorite archetype). When I wanted to make a Wind deck, blah blah blah, had to make an archetype, so on and so on. Literally NOTHING really works at its best without an archetype being utilized, and the game VERY obviously plays favorites with what archetypes it wants you to use (usually the newest ones, the most expensive ones, or the rarest ones). They'll make the favored archetypes and all of the cards that support them absolutely BUSTED, ending the game in 1-2 turn wins with 100 summons each turn you just sorta have to watch your opponent do like its a cutscene. I've been saying this game has a huge creativity issue and the only way to inject creativity into the game anymore is to nerf yourself into not using certain cards and make more creative/reactive strategies, and the way the game STILL manages to funnel the creative process into making it archetypes-or-nothing is an interesting (and sad lol) way to look at it.
Glad my video could be of service to bring things to your attention that you may have never realized
Duel links is fun goat is fun. Every other yugioh sucks
The PSP yugiohs were really good and wish they would remaster those for modern platforms
@@JohnKill3DGaming I like the GBA ones the most.
You are just someone that plays Yugioh legacy of the duelist link evolution, and you are not playing it the way your suppose to play you play the story with your own deck that is not how your supposed to play it, but the point is not that, you complain about goat format is better and does not have lock you are seriously high wrong. In yugioh master duel when Goat format showed up, as a try out. I give it a try, and my opinion on goat format Very bad, the only good thing is I remember does old card, but otherwise it is bad, because you almost got no counter against trap card, if you opponent got the stronger monster you strait up lose if you run out of trap card, and spell card, while in modern yugioh if deck that does not have any gas, can sometimes have unexpected gas that you did not know. The only reason why you hate modern yugioh is because you brought a deck from 2,002 and keep it the way it was, minus the currently banned card, yes you going to have a bad time and guarantee to lose 90% of the time since you do not include with the 2,002 deck modern interaction, and since you refuse to learn the new way and to add the new support for your old deck, you are guarantee to have a bad time and then make a video on yugioh legacy of duelist that no one will watch because you complain inaccurately about how bad modern yugioh is. No Modern yugioh meaning the game Yugioh legacy of the duelist you not have existed, even the link evolution would not have existed, or if it would still have existed it would be too expensive for what it contain, since with no modern yugioh, Yugioh and Yugioh GX, no Yugioh 5D, No Yugioh Zexal no Yugioh Arc V, and no Yugioh Vrain, and No yugioh Seven and No yugioh seven Go rush. All the animé after Yugioh GX would not exist. This also mean no Duel link in the smarth phone. That would mean konami would have gone out of business not long after Yugioh GX so no one would be interested in the game since it is always the same thing with no improvement. No modern yugioh meaning Monster reborn would remain banned, pot of greed remain limited to 1 a long side gracefull charity and pre mature barriel, Raigeki and dark hole was banned during the old yugioh, Solemn Judgement was limited to 1 or banned at that time I don't remember, so it would remain that way. God card would never got their playable version, and God card would never got supporter card that match their animé effect.
As someone who plays the modern format and also played back then (and I mean actually played back then, as in tourneys and not the playground), someone sent me this as an example of the weird things Yugiboomers say these days. I'll give you credit, it's better researched than Act Man's legendarily bad video at least?
Yea everything yugiboomers say is weird, yet the game was at its peak and the most fun it ever was when it was the yugiboomers playing it. Is it that hard to admit that even if you don't agree with all our points, that the game is total crap these days and NOT FUN AT ALL?
@@ShadowsAndGames For one thing, I think it's safe to say the game was at it's "peak" in the early 2010's (Edison format is easily the most popular "retro format" these days) so that's far past the days of yugibooming lol Second, I would agree if this was the late 2010's, (i.e. the dark ages of Yugioh) but things are pretty good right now. Not too much to complain about. And it's in pretty good shape when you see what's going on in the other card games (I don't play Magic, but it seems be imploding with more bad news happening weekly?)
@@ShadowsAndGamesthe game was at its peak in what way? Sales? Maybe, but the quality of the game had nothing to do with it, the anime being the single most popular franchise in the world at the time was the cause of that. The gameplay itself was at one of its lowest points in the 25 years the game has existed. Yugiboomers just refuse to understand their playground experience was not representative of the state of the game at the time.
@@JesterQueenAnne yea because the standard of quality is good today 25 years of evolution later. Thank god for goat and edison format y'all have fun with today's shitshow
P. S: Still more yugiboomers TODAY, or just people unhappy with the game than "happy new players" (they all came from links btw) what does that say lmao. But all good yall keep spamming
I wholeheartedly agree! I love Yugioh but modern Yugioh isn't fun AT ALL!! The only Synchro deck I love playing is my Master Hyperion/Agents deck. Yugioh is dead thanks to the modern crap
Don't you get in no modern yugioh no synchro monster, it would have stop at GX. Because that was the creator original plan
Now is the time for a HERO to restore balance to the Yu-Gi-OH world. With real strategy and gameplay.
At the time of this video young defiant was at 27,400 subscribers now he’s at over 38,000 subscribers INSANE!!!!
I know this video was posted three years ago but I can name a couple UA-camrs that are so toxic and so unbearable there is young defiant and organized chaos
This aged like fine wine
bro i loved this game as a kid, its been around a decade since i’ve played it
I used to play dual links but stopped when the blue eyes decks were everywhere. I'm not sure if they are anymore. Dual Links really was just the same people using the same decks and Pay to Win. I'm know "Playing" it again, I really just want to collect cards and do the "Campaign".
What makes me so mad with Yu-Gi-Oh! players are when people say a card is useless, like when people say normal monsters are useless because they don't have effects. That is bull crap. Normal monsters have so many support cards that make them OP.
One of the biggest issues the game has is how many special summons you can do in a single turn. Speed format was good for like a few months and then they ruined that too. Doesn't help that the game also has to appeal to Western players now that can't read and can't figure out strategy so it has to be baked into a new set. Nowadays I stick to playing Magic the Gathering EDH format. Least I'm allowed to play, the players are friendly, it's not competitive unless you play cEDH.
The longest duel I've ever played was with my brother and my cousin, it took a couple of hours. I miss those days as well. When my brother and I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh! we never followed the ban list, I don't even think we knew that there was a ban list, at least I didn't, until I made the mistake of watching UA-cam Yu-Gi-Oh! and all of a sudden there's a ban list I never knew was around. The ban list has ruined Yu-Gi-Oh! for me, you can't play a random game without people complaining "your deck isn't up to the ban list" It's like, shut up you're just afraid of jar cards!
What actually annoy me on the modern Yu-Gi-Oh ins't even the fact that the duel ends on 2-3 rounds, what takes away my will to play is that those 2-3 rounds can take the same amount of time of a duel with 30 rounds if my opponent wasn't summoning infinite cards. And above all that, many of the cool cards i wish i could use are utterly useless against those meta decks that destroy anything that ins't unbalanced as they are.
In yugioh master duel at first you got 8 minutes a turn, and it drain to 5 minutes a turn except for online casuel which remain 8 minutes (online casuel still have to follow the standard banned list) even people now over exagarate on how long the combo is 20 minutes but you only 5 minutes, if it really did take him 20 minutes to make the combo he lose in Yugioh master duel, even with the 8 minutes version, the only way in a 5 minutes turn to have a 20 minutes turn combo he would have to used an effect that skip your turn 3 times. And at the first time it switch to 3 minutes in only ranking per turn even skipping turn would net you a lose with a 20 minutes combo since the time would not increase enought, and you run out of time. This is why they shrink the time to 3 minutes since you don't have time to do a 20 minutes combo in 1 turn, and since you are rush you will make a mistake and you do deserve it for using a strategy like that.
Im just enjoying old yu gi oh. Idc about the new stuff honostly
The burp @1:32 let me know this was gonna be incredible
Bro, you brought a good point. Konami should throw tournaments with different eras, that way everyone can enjoy different decks and play style.
Yeah I agree
Oh my god…. You are so right. Nowadays when I’m second in my turn i just watch youtube or something else in my phone and wait till my opponent finishes his turn then if his board is overwhelming then I surrender. That’s how the game is now. If I dont draw hand traps I just quit, very simple game and there is no fun at all. If I want to play my fun decks to bring out kool monsters then I just play against the computer.
Basically it’s who goes 1st lol and when they already win they keep summoning.
Yes This IS Yu Gi Personally I love it very much By The Way If Dont Like Yu Gi It IS Your Problem
Nah, it's your problem because a trash game means a small player base. Less players means the game is garbage. It USED to be fun.
The fact u enjoy it that much as it is means you are as much of a problem as Konami is. And it's very much your problem if you can't deal with the fact that YOU are the minority here, just go play solitaire and have people who actually wanna have fun play
Honestly. I like Archetypes. I just hate what became of most decks during and after the Vrains Era of Yugioh!
