Boty - Trailer
After being premiered during the sold-out Gazelli Talk: Pauline Boty From Canvas to Screen, at the end of February 2024, we are delighted to share the new industry trailer for the forthcoming documentary film from Mono Media Films and Channel X - BOTY - The life and times of a forgotten artist (working title).
Mono Media Films / Channel X, who have previously produced documentary films on Sir Peter Blake, The Style Council, Tubby Hayes and more, have spent the last five years piecing together the story of Pauline Boty’s life and times to bring the first ever film on this Pop Art Pioneer to life on the big screen.
Key figures interviewed for the film include Natalie Gibson, Celia Birtwell, Derek Boshier, Bridget Boty, Sir Peter Blake, Geoffrey Reeve and Sue Tate among many others.
The film premiere of 'Boty'' will take place on 13 June 2024, at the Nevill Holt Festival 2024

Pauline died decades too soon - perhaps she is being rediscovered because her time is coming around now - fearless as an artist and a person - like all great artists - the work lives on - She embodies a time and place - as Al Bowlly belongs to the 1930s - Marilyn Monroe the 1950s - T-Rex to the 1970s - she belongs to the 1960s - a decade she did not live to see the end of - and yet - like all great artists - she reaches beyond that time and shakes up the time we inhabit
But don’t let the feminists spin her story. She died heroically to allow her unborn daughter to live.

Looking back they sound and look fascinating but tbh they were just annoying after The Jam.
Be great if we could buy this somewhere - Sky Arts have stopped reshowing it now.

How can I see this in the States??? Still have UK and US versions of the early vinyl. 12" remixes, etc. The Style Council were one of the grooviest bands to exist, and offered hope ton the downtrodden. Long live the Modfather!!!

This has to be the most annoying music documentary ever made....I mean how the hell can anyone ever get to see it....unless you subscribe to sky arts (whatever that is?) ...you cannot buy it on DVD....and no one has bothered to put it up on UA-cam...ah well at least I managed to get a copy of Ian snowball and Stuart debills...fantastic book "Soul deep adventures with the style council "....which" ticket touts" profiteering smegheads try and rip rich fans off by selling for inflated prices...and I managed to get the equally fantastic The Jam fire and skill live box set....although it did cost me nearly £100.... which as nice as it is is pretty steep for 6 cds and a small hardback book with not much content....that said out of all the live jam cds I own its the best sounding....dare I say better sounding than when I actually saw them play live as a 14 years old nipper at Sheffield top rank....lol...they should release a style council concert DVD bluray box set and throw this sky arts documentary in with the extras....and whilst we're at it release the FULL The Jam live at Bingley Hall...cmon us weller fans are not getting any younger...dont wait until we're too old and in care homes where the carers and nurses won't let us have anything on the communal TV room except for that nice Ed Sheeren and nick Berry's Heartbeat..lol
Hello Paul. One of the filmmakers here. Fully understand that frustration. We tried as hard as possible to get a DVD but the record company & others involved said it wouldn't sell in enough numbers. We totally disagree & still do, but got out voted. Our plan was to put all a load of extras on it, plus JerUSAlem, & other bits, but they wouldn't fund it. I get asked at least once week, why there is no DVD and I tell them all to complain to the record company. You never know , they might listen one day. Bax - Mono Media Films
@@themumper Thanks for the response....i had an inclination it'd be down to the bean counters....i may well give the suits in the record company an ear bashing (for what its worth ) ..Ironically weller solo is very well served for concert footage for virtually every stage of his solo work.....although ..here I am mourning again lol.....2 of his best concerts filmed Paul Weller: Live At Braehead and The concert at Hyde park are ruined totally by allowing them to be edited by a total hyperactive moron who allows 1- 2 seconds on each camera angle i.e 1 second weller head stock..2 seconds bloke in crowd...2 seconds steve craddocks left fretting hand ....1 second the entire stage....2 seconds weller mouth...1 second steve whites left nostril....5 seconds the clouds in the sky...quick pauls taking a guitar solo lets show 2 seconds the wellers shoes....1 second close up of craddocks shirt....and 2 seconds of the crowd ....oh ive tried to watch it but both are unbearable to watch.....if it was for only a "trailer of the concert oe even a couple of the faster songs itd be just about bearable ...but its the entire 2 hours of the fucking concert even the slower songs ......im a guitar player and one thing i like is to see whats going on on stage ...if i was weller and id paid someone to butcher 2 of my best concerts ever to be put on film from what was my best period solo for band line up etc id demand my money back or fot it to be re-done ......surely Weller has some sort of quality control.....fortunately we do have 2005 live at the Royal Albert hall and Paul Weller: Modern Classics on Film and live wildwood...I can only assume whoever edited it was on speed and coke lol...they're so bad i gave mine away to a charity shop....
@@paulcartwright2810 It's a minefield with all that. So many snouts in the trough. I was told the forecasters at Universal said a DVD of LHS would only sell 500 copies. I laughed and cried at the same time. Then of course the bootlegs appeared, I was even offered a couple (galling) and then it turned up on here and Sky Arts pulled that down. A right old mess. At the end of the day, I hope the fans who want(ed) to see it , did somehow, because its a film we're very proud of.

I still have a VHS tape with Gary presenting The Style Council on Ear Say playing Live , You're The Best Thing and Big Boss Groove. Loved that programme. Also , I remember he had The Jesus and Mary Chain on there ..me and a few schoolmates talked about that for weeks !☺️
