Over writing will occur as long as word count is the goal over content specifically the completeness of the theme and fulfillment of the plot. It's not always the author's fault.
We didn't mean to imply fault, but often there are genre expectations that an author will want to adhere to. For example, a 300,000 word thriller, unless it's really special for some reason, usually will not fly.
@@revisionwizards7128 Fair enough, thank you for the clarification. But, frankly, you ain't seen nothing - I could refer you to more than a few doctoral dissertations. But I digress.
The discussion was very helpful! I discovered I am treating the inciting incident as the main conflict. Thank you for clarifying the difference between the inciting incident and conflict. I will review this episode often! The discussion about options relating to choice was also helpful. Choosing between what I would consider two no-win scenarios is a concept I need to become more familiar with and practice! I look forward to further instruction on the Scene Rubric!
