    I think college jazz education exists for basically two reasons: first, to give steady paying jobs to professional jazz musicians and secondly for aspiring musicians to network. Other than that there’s no real need for it to exist because let’s face it there’s no economic demand for jazz musicians. Personally, having not gone to college for jazz I definitely feel it’s an uphill climb not having an established network.
