I struggled with pregnancy, I didn’t like the loss of control over my body
Everyone’s experience of motherhood is different. Some women get pregnant straight away. Some women sail through their pregnancy. Some women’s babies behave according to the textbook. The truth is, motherhood is a mix of highs and lows. The trick is to just be in the moment because this too will pass.

A bit about Amy
This is Amy Goodall, the Branding Alchemist.
Her life’s purpose (aside from Mumming) is designing the most ‘perfect-for-you’ visual love language for ambitious female brand founders. The insane result of this is internal validation to be your most absolute free, authentic self and it allows you to show up in the way that lights you up the most. The right people will start to easily find you, and will pounce on every new thing you launch, making work feel the best that it ever has.
The thing that has surprised her the most about being a Mum is the sheer, messy, complexity of it all; and how little control she would have over so many situations. It’s taught her a huge lesson in humility, and most importantly to choose her battles wisely. She also had no idea she’d spend so much money on snacks.
Tell us you’re a Mum without telling us you’re a Mum: the insane amount of snacks in the cupboard. And the generally un-groomed appearance of her hair for the last 9 years!
The best thing about being a Mum is one day, you realise you have a new best mate who will open your eyes in ways you never knew were possible. It’s mad-magical!

Everyone’s doing podcasts now for everything. Some of them outrageous some music. Some talks like this one. I think It’s benefiting most people with happiness or even advice like this. To shorten this I’m saying I want to start a podcast but dk where to start
You're right, podcasting is really popular. My advice is to keep it simple to start with and build from there. I use to teach people how to podcast and here is a link to one of my free guides bit.ly/PPDFPW22
I think it makes sense, I would like to practice this. I hope I remember & use it when I truly need to. Thank you!!! Also, new sub here

Thank you for taking the time to comment. You are absolutely right. There are people in this world who have been put in awful situations. Those are not the individuals I’m speaking to.

Do you know Jesus and are you known by Him? everything you said is meaningless if in the end, you would just lose your soul. Put your faith in Christ and repent.

Thank you. I needed this today.
You're welcome. How has your day been?
Its hard to enjoy moments when you have a struggling child. I look back now and i would struggle all over again for him even though it was so hard. I miss my boy being a little bean. ❤
I agree. At the time it feels so hard and then as they grow they encounter other challenges. This was a great reminder to just enjoy.
Yes!!!!! My daughter is 16 and I’m soaking up all the moments, being a little more softer in the way I speak, more understanding…. It heals my inner child parenting her and miss those moments when she was just a little lady because they’re gone forever…. Her as a small child is just a memory. 🥹
It would be great if we could just hit pause once in a while. Just being in the moment really helps.
@@MariaANewman agreed!!! :)
Even the things that annoy you will be precious for with out light is darkness
This is so true. The fact that they are with us is something to be grateful for.
I always wanted to be a mother and I had 4 boys and I enjoyed it so much! I now have 5 grandchildren and awaiting the birth of my 9th great grandchild 😁❤🎉
Wow, you must have so much fun and love surrounding you. How does being a grandmother / great grandmother compare to being a mother?
I play with my grandkids but I look at my grown children and think how much I miss when they were little and how wonderful those times were
It's great to hear that you're able to enjoy the time with your grandkids.
@@MariaANewman it is. ❤️
When my children were younger I was always told to enjoy it because they grow up so fast. They're 14 and 11 now and I want to stop time 😢 Enjoy EVERY MINUTE while you can. They're going to have their own lives away from you someday.
You're so right. Be in the moment. Savour the moments. They are precious and before you know it life has moved on :)
Just listen to ABBA slipping through my fingers 😢
This is so nice and you are 100% correct love yourself❤

My cat stepped on an old land mine hidden at the beach at least she got to fly before she died
Is this your example of viewing a circumstance as neutral?
This is all very well if the person you are interacting with is rational.
Are you in a situation where you're interacting with a person who is not rational?
Everyday! Whether it's someone under incredible stress trying to meet impossible deadlines at work, someone who has taken drugs you meet in the street or public transport, a relative with dementia or suffering from another mental illness, even someone suffering from PTSD. Emergency services, solicitors, retail staff , professions from all walks of life, We all meet irrational people more than you would imagine. I think you are saying that we can control our own actions in order to influence the outcome we want. But sometimes people we interact with don't act logically or predictably.
Yes. It's about putting ourselves in the best frame of mind so that we can show up in the best way that will serve us and those around us. As you say, some people may not act logically or predictably and we have no way of knowing that. We can decide what actions we take to respond.

Thank you, I am.
Good.😊
You look like a white liberal, I bet you vote for and support mass unchecked immigration and then can’t fathom why there is no school places or you can’t see your doctor
This isn’t UK wide. We just send our kids to the catchment school unless you want to choose a Catholic school and you would enrol your kids in the closest Catholic school or a private school where they pay fees and sit entrance exams. If your kids are going to a catholic highschool then they will likely have done primary 1-7 in a catholic primary anyway.
Thank you for your comment 🙏 We still have to apply for our local school even though we’re in the catchment area. I live in a highly populated area and getting a place at our local school is not a given even if you do live in the catchment area.
@@MariaANewman Yep. But that isn’t what’s done in Northern Ireland or Scotland and last time I checked they were in the UK too
@@lanabmc3519 thank you 🙏

I used to be scared of the dentist, I really made a conscious decision to not pass it on to my kids, so I used asked to excited about going to the dentist, and my kids would be excited to too, I used say how I was so excited to go that I wanted to go first, then give in and let them go first. Then, as they got older, I would say how they were so lucky that they get to go to a dentist to clean their teeth, not ever child gets to go, they are so lucky they were picked to be allowed to go. They felt like they won a competition. It really is mostly your outlook and your stories in your head that make up most of the fear.
I love how you have reframed it for your children. Our children pick up on how we're feeling even if we're not saying anything. Although my children are happy to see the dentist, I will definitely be using your reframe :)
Yes...life is good, enjoy every day
Exactly. Life is what you make it.

Thank you. I'm feeling much better and my eyes are less balloon like.
It is my business. I just can only give my advice. Not force the situation
Thank you for commenting. Tell me, for what purpose is it your business?
@@MariaANewman I'm going to give an extreme example to exemplify my point. If i go around stealing from other people would you want me to go to jail or be locked up? Yes of course you would. But why would you? You can't change my behavior. What business is it if yours to change my behavior? I didn't steal from you. This obvious example is why it is your business but of course you can't force them to change. You can advocate for it. You can suggest it. You can't force it. You can take action against behaviors.
@@troyhenry6111I like your example. You can make suggestions and they will decide if and when they want to change.
@@MariaANewman agreed. In the future will you change your behavior to accommodate this nuance? I feel that it's important to accurately describe what we mean
