24 Hours Gluten-Free In New York City
Don’t listen to haters… keep making content you enjoy creating
I hope you pay attention to your life and stop talking nonsense, ma'am. This is of no use to you. ❤
I wish I saw how it arrived and what it looked like when unpacking the box.
I'll try to film the actual unboxing next time! It comes packed really well--I've only had a problem with something being damaged in shipping once, and the process to be refunded was really simple!
Lol! 😂
Thank you so much for your work! My friend has celiac disease and 4 kids. Her days are so busy and I am happy, that I found your videos/ blog to share with her to hopefully make her life a tiny little less stressful! ❤
I hope she finds it helpful!
I don’t want, I NEED 🤩
Do you have a glutenintolerance?
I personally do not--but my niece who I traveled with does and my husband has celiac disease. I am a registered dietitian specializing in celiac & gluten related conditions.
We moved to a small town in Florida. It has been frustrating for me being gluten free. No one seems to even know what gluten free even means😑I am focusing on home cooking. But we enjoy going out to eat so much. It is annoying how behind they are in our new town. But the weather and nature makes it worth it
It definitely can be difficult when there are very few options! Hopefully more options will become available soon. Keep reaching out and asking at some local places, some may see the opportunity to get business from others in the same situation as you!
I’m gluten free too relatable especially when they forget to get you stuff but remember the vegan stuff like what
right lol
Your lunch looks amazing 🤩 What a fun day!
so fun! even with the rain
Promo-SM 💖
That pizza looks amazing!!!
Thank you for sharing this important information! A "cheat day" certainly doesn't sound worth it...
definitely not
I would like organic Do they offer that option?
they have lots of organic options--you can use a filter to sort groceries to see what's organic.
@@TheHelpfulGF Thanx so much 🙏
Thank you for this information. I have RA (40 plus years) and have always been told there was nothing to be done to change the outcome. Mainstream medicine failed. The treatment of "take this pill" eased some of my discomfort but lead to other long term health problems. After seeking help in functional nutrition, I've learned I am gluten intolerant, I have leaky gut, adrenal fatigue, and liver issues. Going gluten-free was a game changer for me. I would encourage anyone looking for a better way to seek alternative advice. There are many functional medicine providers today who can help!
health is highly individualized. Some people with RA find great relief following a gluten free diet, while some people need something different. Happy you've found relief!
Thank you for the tips! I have a slight allergy to gluten (and also dairy) that I developed as an adult. I have stayed away from GF baked goods, because the few that I've had have not been good. But I am interested in experimenting, and this gives me some great ideas.
hope you found something that's helpful!
Everything looks yummy! Question on the blending cup…I just ordered (not yet arrived) the starter kit that has 1 8oz bowl and 1 20oz cup. Are you finding them very useful? Did you just get the set like me or did you get extra bowls and/or cups? I’m wondering now if I should get extras FOMO is real 😂
I got just the set, I thought I'd want extra bowls to store salad dressing and stuff, but I just store them in jars.
Thanks Sharon, this is helpful to me because I just think in most cases protein powder doesn't help at all. Just an expensive gimmick. We need protein in it's natural form.
I think they CAN be helpful and have their place, but I also think it's really great to get protein from whole foods and have other options!
@@TheHelpfulGF Thanks GF! I watched another video tonight a meta analysis showed an extra 9% gain via protein powder.
@@SladeBling yup, it all depends on your health goals :)
I really appreciate this video!! I've been trying to incorporate more protein, and I've grown SO TIRED of the protein powder taste. Thank you!
Happy you like the idea!
Mixing beans and fruits will never be a good idea for your gut health (in my opinion)
It may not be for some individuals (if you have issues with galactooligosaccharides or oligofructans specifically), but most people don't. While many believe that beans lead to gastrointestinal distress, but that's typically because their diet is so low in beans that the fibers cause some temporary discomfort. In reality, if you regularly eat beans in your diet the gastrointestinal discomfort greatly decreases due to fiber tolerance and changes in your gut microbiome. Adult men should aim for 38g of fiber/day and women for 25 all from wide range of sources and whole foods--this is drastically higher than most people consume. You can gradually build up fiber to these amounts. But remember: while I am a registered dietitian, I am not YOUR registered dietitian and do not know the nuances of your specific health.
What if you don't like bananas
I would try frozen avocado!
I was glad to see your video. I'm gluten-free and dairy-free, and I enjoy traveling. Thanks for the tips! My favorite things to take on trips are Peppermint Luna bars or something similar. I also like to have some nuts along. They keep well, and they aren't fragile.
I'm so happy you liked these tips! I love luna bars, we use those a lot for traveling too!
Great tips Sharon! I always have back up snacks, even when I’m not traveling 😊
YES! gotta have those snacks!
I am all about stress free! Wahoo!!!
right? only way to travel!
😋
Such an easy and tasty smoothie!
definitely!
These meal companies are good for learning some new recipes and food Looks pretty good. But in the long run its not that big of a hastle to buy stuff yourself and you save money on shipping costs.
totally agree! For us the time saver can also definitely be worth it--especially when you live in a rural area (like me) and the closest (safe) gluten free take out is 25-30 minutes away
What a great way to use dragon fruit.
I love dragon fruit! It's so pretty.
I love your recipes! I'm gonna have to try that smoothie.
yes, you should! it's tasty!
Easy yes but stores are getting better about stocking gluten free foods...
yes, they are! ✨🎉
Great informative video
Glad it was helpful!
My problem with the gf breads is how heavy they are in carbs. One of my kids is a type 1 diabetic so she’d rather just not have a sandwich because it’s “not worth the carbs.”
Gluten free breads, in general, do tend to be higher in simple carbohydrates with less fiber. Some type 1 diabetics may decide it's not worth it for them--which is totally valid. Tyler is a type 1 diabetic also and finds that as long as the bread is paired with protein and he boluses well, it doesn't spike his BG levels. Everyone is different and you should always do what's best for you!
Yes! I was so excited when I saw you launched this video. I need help reaching my protein goals!!!
yay! hope you find some helpful tips!
A dietician not posting nutritional data for these options?🤔
As a registered dietitian specializing in gluten-free living, my focus is on nourishing the body and enjoying food without unnecessary restrictions. I believe in looking beyond just calories and macros, and instead, encouraging a holistic approach to eating where we consider the quality of ingredients and how the food makes us feel. This perspective celebrates the joy of eating and recognizes that nutrition extends far beyond calories. Also, it's important to note that nutritional content can vary significantly based on the specific brands and quantities of ingredients used (for example, I used dairy free yogurt in one of these recipes and the brand I used had zero protein and 3.5g of fat while some brands have 7 g protein and 12g fat--quite a big difference). For those who wish to track their individual calorie and macro intake, I recommend calculating based on the specific products and amounts you use in your own kitchen for the most accurate information. I hope this helps clarify my approach, and I'm here to support your journey towards a fulfilling and gluten-free lifestyle!
This 75 yr old celiac was diagnosed at 58. On protein quest so delighted to stumble on your channel ❤
Thanks for sharing! I hope you find some good ideas that are easy to incorporate into your regular way of eating! 💕
@@TheHelpfulGF when diagnosed, only 2 gastroenterologists specialized in celiac disease. Mine was in St. Louis. Steep learning curve. Now I go to active senior communities to work with residents one on one, starting with their fridge and pantry. 🙀
@@CrazyMaryJo love that you do this! When my husband was diagnosed in the 90s he had to travel to New York City for his diagnosis.
Thank you for making this video and show us cooking process. Did you feel like it was not enough food? The plates look like maybe it's not like a lot of food
great question! We definitely had leftovers from a couple of the meals that I ate for lunch the next day, and one meal everyone had seconds--but my kids don't necessarily eat a full serving. When you order for 4 servings or 2 servings it's designed to give you exactly that serving size--but that said, the sauces and such (like the pesto) that came with the meal definitely were more than needed for the meal and we were able to use in meals the next week or two.
@@TheHelpfulGF Got it thank you! 😊
Tip #6 - Meal Plan! Things are less crazy if you make a plan.
as long as your meal plan is realistic! I'm guilty of assuming I have more time to cook than I do at night lol
I am looking to go more gluten free in this year. This is very useful for me.
hope it helps!
A member of my extended family has recently had to adopt a gluten-free diet. She's in her 80s and it's been a big adjustment for her. I'm doing all I can to soak up tips like this so I know what to make when she visits, and I am educated when she wants to chat about her dietary challenges.
it's so hard to change your way of eating after so long! Much love and best wishes to her--and kudos to you for helping!
This video is a life saver! Thank you for putting this together.
happy it helps!
I'm seriously considering meal delivery for those crazy weekday schedules. Excited to explore local options and take a bit of the cooking load off my plate. Thanks for the tip!
it's a game changer for sure!
Wow, this looks delicious! Love the idea of a protein-packed feast, especially after the gym!
YES! After a workout you definitely need a quick and easy meal with protein!
This is the best!! Thank you for making this video.
so happy you liked it!
This is so great! Can't wait to try them out.
let me know what you end up trying and how it goes!
I wish the sam's choice was under 4 dollars at my Walmart. It's almost 6 I think
WOW! That's a big price difference! I'm not sure ours is ALWAYS that much cheaper than the other options, but it definitely was that day!
I like Canyon bakehouse Schar Both white an canyon ancient grain Sam choice white bread I didn't mind any of them untoasted I toast them either in a pan or air fryer My bank account is crying so I buy like 3-4 loaves and freeze them
I feel you! My bank account was crying after this taste test! We also keep it in our freezer and thaw as we need it.
Love this idea!! such a great way to make ramen more filling and exciting!
I love it too!
UMMMM... YUM!!! I love ramen :)
me too!
So Yummy, Love the idea of transforming my gluten-free ramen into a wholesome, protein-packed feast!
yes! it's soooo yummy!
THank you for the great tips, I will be making some gf baking recipes this holiday season and I didn't know where to start with the flour!
happy they help!
