Private Pilot Student First Solo Flight: View from the Cockpit
My first solo flight on a beautiful January 3, 2024, in Bend, Oregon. My instructor, Sarah, and I did a few laps around the pattern with me for some final guidance and evaluation, then jumped out and let me do a few more laps by myself. A jet landing on the same runway from the opposite side threw my flow off a bit, but everything went very smoothly. Thanks to Sarah and Bend Aircraft (bendaircraft.com).

This video shows how to remove the headlight fairing (a.k.a. the front cowl, the meter cover or the meter visor) revealing the hidden 12V option plug. Honda provides a pair of handy 12V option plugs. These plugs have their own 7A breaker and are also after the main relay, so power turns on and off with the key.

    Congrats, nice video! I'm surprised that how rich the mixture is when taxiing (prior to runup) and at 3400' field elevation. My C150M is aggressively leaned on ground & air and I fly at sea level. If not the 0-200 loads up (lead) the plugs. I also use TCP which helps a lot with 100LL. Good Luck.

    Finally did this because I had to replace the turn signals anyways. The "rotating out" part did not work for me, I think It did for you because some latches where already broken ;) What did work is putting a prying tool (I used a screwdriver, better use something out of plastik though) into those slots that can be seen around 4:59 and wiggling around.. than the latches popped open.

    Can I switch the fuse with a 15 amp fuse and run a heated jacket liner, heated gloves, and a pant liner.

    • @ChrisRaabe
      @ChrisRaabe 4 роки тому

      Hey Luis. First of all, let me say that I'm not a mechanic, so take my advice with a grain of salt. 15 Amps is pretty high and the accessory wire is not so thick so I imagine you might risk burning the wire or connector somewhere. If the installation instructions for your heated gear include an option to connect directly to the battery, you might want to consider that. A word of caution, you might want to start your bike before powering your heated gear to make sure the battery has enough juice for your starter before using it for accessories. After that the alternator should prevent the battery from being run down. 15 Amps is pretty big though. There might be a chance that the alternator won't keep up with the load and you might lose charge in your battery. Something to look into.

      Okay thank you I’ll just use the accessory to power a relay and stick the mains to battery to relay

    Honestly you're a life saver. I've spent my morning trying to figure out how to connect my camera and other future things to the bike without bodging it or cutting other wires. This is exactly what I want. For now I'm going to wire it in directly to that plug, but my long term plan is to install a custom fusebox for easier future mods

    That's a great and useful video. I tried getting the parts from the Calgary AB Honda dealership and although they could see the plug on their computer they claimed there was no part. So I came back to the internet and found the Honda Reference numbers Honda 07VPZ-002040A that's a hole plug with crimp and plugs. For just the crimp Honda 07JAZ-00180A for just the wire water seal plug its Honda 07JAZ-001100A

      Just a heads up to other riders, apparently this part number is a Honda Automotive number and although the parts are the same you wont find this part number in a Honda Motorcycle dealer. When I showed them this part number they got all confused. LOL. I havent been able to locate the part number that is motorcycle specific. Unfortunately where i am in the Philippines there is no Honda car dealer. I will simply buy the generic MT090 parts online.

    Hi Chris. For the MT090 waterproof crimp connectors, where did you go to get them? Did you go to local Honda store or did you buy them from an online Honda store? If it was an online purchase, where was the website?

    Hi... my Benelli has 2 of these plugs, I intend to use one of them to power up a pair of LED spotlights. Question - where can I find those yellow seals? What are they called exactly?

    • @ChrisRaabe
      @ChrisRaabe 8 років тому

      I'm not an expert on connectors, but it seems that the MT, HM, and HW series of sealed 090 connectors all use the same male and female crimps and should include the rubber seals. They seem to be standard for Japanese bikes and autos and as such it wasn't hard for me to find them at an auto parts store here in Tokyo. I did a quick search on Amazon and found this: a.co/8s3OdGy . It's a bit pricey if all you need is the crimps though...
