The Temple of Khnum is located in Esna, Egypt. It is an active excavation site as you can see at the end of the video. The colors and details have survived incredibly well compared to many other locations in Egypt. It should be a must see when your Egypt Nile River Cruise pulls up to Esna as it is a very short walk from the cruise ship to the site.

    I would never travel to Iceland because of this unfair practice. The idea of "big brother watching" is just waaaay too creepy. They need to change their draconian ways as it's absolutely terrible policy for tourism. Yes, speed needs to be controlled but not with stratospheric ticket prices. The senior couple that had a car for a week in Iceland and went to fly out and were hit for over $3000.00 in tickets from the cameras. We've visited over 80 countries and enjoyed incredible experiences but some countries are permanently removed from consideration due to unfair treatment of visitors.

    What do recommend for phone usage while traveling? Is it best to add international to my current phone plan and would I have the freedom to use it just as I do here at home in the states? Or??? This would be my first time traveling East of the USA. I typically Caribbean cruise and get ship Wi-Fi and then keep my phone in airplane mode when off ship. Also, I was planning to use my phone to take pictures and use a memory stick to dump them often to keep from filling up my phone. What is your recommendation on phone use for photos? Please be as detailed as possible for both questions. I think a vlog on these would be great too. Thanks in advance!

    • @traveltipsbybill
      @traveltipsbybill 11 місяців тому

      We cruise all the time. Last year we were on the ocean 10 out of the 12 months. We both just use our international plans on our phones. She has Verizon and I have att. When we cruise we buy the Wi-Fi package too!! As far as photos when on the Egypt trip I just made sure my pics were uploaded to the cloud. Apples iPhoto and I also use Google Photos. You can find Wi-Fi around Egypt. It’s not the fastest mind you (incredibly slow to be honest) but if you set your phone to back up to the cloud while you sleep you should be fine!!

    Thanks for the update! I am sorry, I didn’t catch your ladies name. I am female and planning a trip soon. I am subscribed and starting to watch to learn Middle East travel. I really appreciate the real insight you share. I have started loading my amazon cart. I was on the fence for those water/hike shoes, you helped me make up my mind. Did they do well for support all day walking exploring multi surfaces? Did you wear the sandals much or at all ? What shoes were your primary go to? Did need / take hiking shoes? Can you tell I want to minimize the amount of shoes to take? Did you wear your day clothes to dinners, if not, how did you dress to not draw attention? Thanks for showing the water filter chamber cup. Thank so much for taking the time to share all of this information! God Bless both of you all day and every!

    • @traveltipsbybill
      @traveltipsbybill 11 місяців тому

      We actually made friends with a cab driver that we ended up using for 2 days in Luxor and had him them drive us to Hurgada. I honestly do not remember how much we paid him as we did a bulk deal for his time for the two days. You might be able to go on the app we used (Careem) and get a ball park idea of the cost by inputting pickup and drop off locations.

    I have enjoyed your travel tips. We are headed to Egypt in Jan. I have been trying to teach myself Egyptian Arabic for the last year. Couple years ago we went to Israel and before that Morocco. and vendors and people on the streets can be annoying. we have been using the phrase la Shokran, which works well but I’m intrigued with the Egyptian Arabic word for “my dear“ or Habibi I can see myself saying that to these people, but I’m not sure how they would react if my wife said it. I’m wondering if it could be heard as an invitation. Did your wife use the phrase and how did it work when she said it?

    • @traveltipsbybill
      @traveltipsbybill 11 місяців тому

      My wife used it all the time both to females and males since we were never alone I said it without the other present I don’t think it was presented in a way that could be flirtatious. It helped her disarm situations too. I our own female guide used it as well.

    @TravelTipsByBill Love the content ... Question ✔As a solo traveler, will you eat at the hotel restaurant or room service? I will be with a tour but I'm going to arrive few days earlier, I want to be present 😊. The hotel is an American Hotel. Thanks V/R Maria ❤✈🌐❤

    • @traveltipsbybill
      @traveltipsbybill 11 місяців тому

      In the hotel itself I would not worry at all about where to eat or your safety especially an American hotel. Remember do not eat anthing that isnt fully cooked. Example raw fruits or vegetables. they may have washed them in unsanitary water that could get you sick.

    I broke my leg in Aswan because of bad footware so do not worry about fashion. Also waterproof shoes if you swim in the Red Sea then beware of Sea Urchins. Agree about the hygiene products too cotton under ware though is better because of the heat. 120 degrees at Aswan 😮

      @@traveltipsbybill No the Temple of Hathor and was taken to the military hospital in Aswan they were so nice. The doctor was the radiologist as well. Had a big cast, so I missed the temple of Karnak when we got back upriver because I had no crutches( only a walking stick we got in a local shop) and it was so much walking or hopping in my case, I just stayed on the boat. We did have a good laugh though with the other passengers. I got nothing but kindness. Though I did have to sign a thing for the tourist police that I wasn’t attacked. Absolutely true story. We went on to The Red Sea and I paddled one foot in the sea lol 😂 holiday to remember. Ps. My leg had to be re -set when I got home took 6 months to heal so good footwear essential.😂😂😂😂
