Here is a quick overview of the new CELF-P 3. I did this in the clinic, so I didn’t have my tripod. Sorry for blurriness, shakiness etc. I hope it’s helpful despite all that. Let me know what questions you have.

What does the confidence level mean ?
If you pick 90% that means you are 90% confident that if this test was given again this is the range of scores in which the child would fall. I typically use 95% unless I feel the child is not performing to the best of their abilities (e.g., obviously tired, sad, disengaged).
I'm giving this test to several students tomorrow for an SLP in our district, and this helped so much! Thank you for taking the time to show us the ins and outs of the entire test.
Thank you dear can i have a copy ?
Can you share a template please?
@@ShannonGruidl if you are interested, I sell them w/directions attached
Thank you for this video from a grad student! Question: how do we determine a complete vowel analysis? Specifically for sounds in words?
good evening maam i want this sample
Did you mean standard score at min 18:25?
You are plotting the standard score and the confidence intervals. You place a dot where the stands score goes and then brackets to show confidence intervals. I will make another video now to show that more in depth. I hope it will help.
Thank you!! It helped! Less stress for grad school.
hi how to get the percentile ranbk confidence interval
I'll make a new video for that
Hi, what about percentile rank confidence interval? Which table? Thank you
I'll make a new video for that
Hi, is it possible to secure one of these tests somewhere? I would like to self administer to my own child.
How are multiple errors of the consonants in medial position counted? I think one of the words was "pajamas," if the child omitted one the /d3/ and distorted the /m/, is that 2 errors or one?
Great question! I get that one a lot. Each box is just one error. Even if there are multiple sounds/blends it’s still just one.
Incredibly helpful! Just started adding in peds to my medical adult caseload and doing a lot of re-learning since grad school. This video had the perfect amount of guidance and tips for administration and scoring without being drawn out or redundant. Thanks for your expertise!
thank you! good for prac test preparation
This is super helpful for preparing my prac exam!
I just want to say thank you! You made this so easy to understand!
This is helpful but the camera needs to be pointed higher. I wish I could’ve seen what you were pointing to
I'll keep that in mind w/the next video Thank you for the feedback
So clear and helpful, thank you
We have SLPs at my university clinic who do screen for Autism with the MIGDAS and the ADOS. They went through a special training to be able to give the ADOS.
that is correct we can screen, but the Dx has to come from someone else. For example, we can give the CARS and say there are characteristics that are consistent w/a ASD Dx.
What is the standard deviation indicative of an impairment for this specific test?
Love this!! Well done!! ❤
How would you score the PLS-5 for a student who speaks AAE?
great question! You would need to check each item they "missed" to make sure there was not an element that conflicts w/AAE, but this test shouldn't have too many. If they "missed" an item that is correct according to the rules of AAE you would simply not count that incorrect but rather would give them the score for it IF they answered in the correct form for AAE. It would be very important for you to take notes on each missed item, and make sure to go back and check later. Hope that helps
@@143surfANDdance you would have to take into account any difference that this test would consider “wrong” and you would not count them wrong. The basis of this test is more early language development and less grammar, so there would not be too many alterations that would need to be made.
Thanks you, your presentation was very clear.!
So helpful!! Thank you!
So helpful!
So helpful! Would enjoy more videos like this!
I'm curious about the sample in the manual about the ceiling. You mentioned it was 6 consecutive, but it looked like the sample showed 1 incorrect, 1 correct, then 5 incorrect. Why is that considered 6 consecutive when there was 1 correct response in there? Thank you!
On the assessment it says "Ceiling: 6 incorrect out of 8 consecutive responses." So if in the last 8 consecutive responses the participant got 3 answers correct, you would continue, even if the last 5 were false.
How do you calculate Confidence Intervals?
In Chapter 6 of the Examiner's Manual it has a chart w/the standard scores then next to that is the "lower" and "upper" limit scores. Those are your confidence intervals. For this test, there is no picking 90 or 95%. It's only 90%.
Thank you so much! Using it on a 12 yr old tomorrow!💓 very helpful video!
Thank you so much for this
Great video! Could you do an overview of the CELF-P 3? Particularly for scoring and interpretation.
For sure! I'll try to get to it next week 😁
sorry for the delay on this! I only have this test at my clinic, and I'm only there once a week. I have not had the time the past few weeks as we have been packed w/clients. I will get to it ASAP.
Hey Jenna! I posted the video of how to administer the CELF-P3, but I'll make another one for interpretations. I hope what I posted helps.
Thank you thank you!!
Been reading and learning about Maryanne Wolf's work and am interested in knowing if this assessment would work for middle school aged students. I am still learning, so thank you for this video.
for sure! it goes from ages 5;0 to 18;11this is a great test to see if the child might have reading failure. I'd say for a middle schooler, if they have not been identified for a reading disorder, there might be other things that would let you know they are/will have reading failure, but this could help w/the Dx.
Thank you for making this video! I'm a grad student and this has helped me a ton!
Excellent!
I'm sure the publisher would not agree to you showing this video because you have just revealed the test materials which can invalidate the assessment progress for assessors!
This was the best video explaining how to use the PLS 5. Make more videos like that.
Thank you so much! I will be making more videos in the next few weeks for sure 😁
I want to connect to the person who developed itcan anyone provide email plz I badly need it
If the child falls within the blue area, does that indicates he/she is in the average range?
Sorry for the delay! For this test yes. Most standardized tests have a chart like that on the front where you get a quick glance of what they consider w/in normal limits.
This video was very well put together. It was clear and simple to follow. Thanks for helping me. I too am a visual learner.
Is the expressive one word picture vocabulary test scored exactly the same way?
For the EOWPVT the raw score is the number of correct responses up to the ceiling then use the tables in the back to convert. I can try to make a video this week on that test.
Thanks for making this video. I am a very visual learner and looked over the manual and said some bad words. Then I found your video and all was well again.🙂😄
This is really helpful, thank you! I'm in the UK - the principles are obviously the same, but it looks like our DEAP assessment is slightly different (our prompts aren't on the back of the stimulus book, and the record forms seem confusing/not as nicely laid out). I much prefer yours!!
Thank you very much! this was really helpful for a SLP second year student.
Thanks for this information! What do you do if you cannot establish a basal for one of the sub tests?
So glad you found this helpful! When are you starting at the beginning that is considered a basil, but if the client is working backwards you would go all the way back to the beginning- if necessary. I'd argue that if that's going to happen they probably can't do the trials, and if that's the case you don't administer the test.
Thank you so much for the rundown of the CASL-2! It was a great video to watch after reviewing the manual and first easel. I have a couple of follow-up questions. I know not all tests need to be administered, but do you pick and choose or do 1 entire easel? If answers that are not listed are supplied by the student, would that get marked as incorrect?
Claire, You have to administer the core of the test, and then the subtests from there that would be helpful or further information can be given. For example, if the client doesn't do well in receptive language you would consider administering more of the subtests w/in that domain to get a further look at what specifically is going on w/them. Sadly, when a client gives us an answer that is not on the test as acceptable we can't give them the credit for it. Over the years I've had kids come up w/some really creative ones, and it's a bummer I can't give them any credit. That's the downside to standardized tests, but that's also a good example as to why dynamic assessment is so important.
Very helpful, thank you!!!
Very helpful! Thank you!!
Wonderful! I'm so glad it's helping :D
Are you allowed to use repetitions for this test? Also, are there any acceptable modifications allowed?
The directions do not indicate one way or the other about repetition, so- to me- that would mean that you can repeat. Normally, you can't repeat tasks that rely on memory recall etc. In this case you might just have a kid who checked out for a second. If you're repeating a lot that would be something to note in the writeup. As for accommodations, you can make modifications to any test, BUT you can't report the standardized score, and you would need to write in the report exactly how you modified. If you are working in a mod-severe setting you may want to use this kind of test for a "baseline" and "checkin" but may report just the raw score or the types of items they could name. Just be sure you aren't reporting the standardized score b/c as soon as you modify that score is null. Hope that helps!
@@unlesstherapy4607 yes, thank you! 😊
I did double check the manual and repetitions are permitted
Thanks, I love the way you explained, recapped, and recapped again. Super helpful.
how do you see yourself WHILE presenting a ppt?
You set up a Zoom meeting w/yourself :D
