Peg Perego John Deere 6v to 12v conversion

Change out the 6v 4ah for a 12v 7ah from Home Depot. Look in the lighting department under back up batteries. Price is comparable to online stores. Supper easy swap as connections can be swapped from the old battery to the new. Required a bit of trimming under the hood to accept the battery.

The guy I bought our house from left all this pvc lawn furniture behind. Today the new table I made is done so time for the pvc junk to go. Did I mention that the guy who sold the house was a tool? I salute him half way thru!

3rd Sunday run and my fastest. Looks like I picked up a bug on the previous run. Jump to 0:35 for start of run.
My kid has the exact same tractor and I did the exact same thing. Simply switch to a 12v 7ah battery. It worked faster right away, but after in a minute it wouln't move anymore. Had to wait a couple minute for it to start again. I'm assuming the higher voltage is overheating the 6v motor. Have you had this problem ? I'm thinking about upgrading the motor to a 12v as well, but not sure what to buy since I can't find the specs, RPM, etc.
I’m having the same issue and made the same assumption. Please post any info you find on a motor upgrade
My other comment was deleted - long story short, the 12v old style gator gearbox and motor fits and produces enormous torque. It’s like it has a big block in it. They’re $25 on Amazon and takes 15 mins to swap

I really like the Led lights , I am putting another head on my cub and converting it to 12 volts , I have installed some little 4 inch Hella round lights on some equipment at work I might have to get 3 for the Cub! 👍
Someday I want to go 12v as well. The tractor is still 6v. To run the leds I picked up a 6 to 12V step up converter www.classiccarstereos.com/negative-ground-6v-to-12v-converter.html?rrec=true. It has been powering the 2x eBay leds for the past 2 years without issue.

I can see 3 things happening, the rear wheels are spinning and the chains are not doing anything the way they are mounted. In the first moments of the video you can see the chains laying between the lugs of the ag tires instead of being over top of the lugs/tread. The chains never make contact with the pavement. They are better suited for button or turf tires. The third and biggest issue is that there are no wheel weights mounted. Get some rear weights and lose the chains. Night and day difference. 👍
Agreed. This year I chained up the moldboard plow to the hitch and up under the seat/floor. Big difference.
