@@grayestrat Honestly, I really like the fight and I wish I could say it was my favorite boss but he’s just got a bit too much crap for me to hold that opinion. Ifeel like his moveset is damn near perfect in all of its good attacks, with the minor exception of how hard it is to stagger him. For casual players I do think it is a bit too insane but for challenges he is so extremely fun, except for 2 really unfortunate things. The first and worst obviously being the cross slash, it sucks that you have to either use a specific tool and playstyle to avoid it, or forego punish windows and play awkwardly to be able to roll it to the side, and it brings the fight down a lot. The second issue isn’t nearly as bad but it still sucks, which is the gravity boulder thing combined with his follow up multi slams. For the most part it’s fine but if he does it far away or backs you into a corner with it you are just screwed and it’s a bit too inconsistent to be tolerable. Overall, he is a great boss and if the cross slash was removed and the boulder attack more consistent with walls and range, he might be my favorite boss in the game and the series, but these issues are big enough that he is probably sitting around the #3 or #4 spot for me in Elden Ring and probably at the bottom of my top 10 in the series, or just outside of it. Also Wing of Astel is so fun, Nebula kinda felt cheap because of how much damage it does but I didn’t want to put up with the cross slash and just gave in to using it, made the fight a bit too easy tbh

@SacredWalrus still much more generous than most give him. I've barely spent any time learning him but your words give me hope of liking him when I finally fight him more.

@@grayestrat Yeah, I know most people absolutely hate him, and I think it’s mostly because learning him is miserable, but once you have learned him he is incredible aside from the issues I talked about earlier. I think for most people the learning process is most of the fight and in that case I get why they hate him but for someone like me who goes back and fights him in many different challenges it is a really fun fight. I hope you come to enjoy him once you learn him as well, but that process is ridiculously punishing

@@grayestrat Honestly, I think, similarly to his quality, his difficulty is very different when you’re learning him vs once you know him. He has very few mix ups or things to watch out for. You have to playa round double slash but other than that everything he does is pretty predictable, and for Hitless Rellana is probably waaaaaay harder

@@grayestrat Thanks! This fight was super annoying because the torches range is so bad and I kept having to move to fight the right punish angle. You can see in the video I whiffed a few times but when I was first attempting this I would miss like every other hit. Also, I have no idea how this was so much faster than rl1 ng+7 run, maybe the frostbite and the staggers made a big difference?

@@SacredWalrus probably, I only had 2 staggers in 8 minutes 😅 and yeah I didn't think about the frostbite

@@grayestrat Torch only is pretty fun. I added Scadu 0 because torch only on its own isn’t that hard but it’s a pretty fun challenge combined with something else

I actually haven’t attempted it in a while, maybe a yearish, and since attempting it recently I got it on my fourth run, but in the past the biggest run killers were stormveil main gate, the second part with the explosive ballistas, the birds in Farum Azula, godskin duo and maliketh.

I also forgot about Morgott, he was a huge pain on these runs, super scary

@@grayestrat Thanks! I attempted this a while ago, maybe like a year back and I got kind of bored of it and even though I thought about it a lot I hadn’t attempted it since. Recently when I was trying to figure out which game to deathless next I realized that deathless runs feel pretty boring so I thought I’d give this a try and I had fun with it so I decided to keep it going and I actually got it in like four attempts. I’m probably going to look into other Hitless runs for the other souls games soon

I was surprised by how fast I got it, maybe it helped me to be calm and collected that I wasn’t expecting to get the run, and it also just helped that I was confident fighting all of the bosses since unlike last time I attempted this I know them very well. Right now I’m working on Hades Hitless, both because I want to play hades and because for that one I don’t have to learn a route and I can just start attempting it. After that I’m probably going to do sekiro bb or ds3, but I’m not sure on that one yet

Honestly, maybe it was just easier because I already knew the boss very well but this was the least time consuming of all of my Radahn kills, it was only like 10 tries over the course of an hour. It was probably because at that point I was still learning him but I suffered way more on level 1

@@SacredWalrus hell yeah you've clearly mastered this boss. Meanwhile today starts hour 11 of my Rellana attempts.... 😅

@@grayestrat I wouldn’t say I’ve totally mastered him yet but I’m definitely getting there. Also, I find Rellana way harder than Radahn for stuff like hitlesses because with Radahn everything he does is pretty clear and it is obvious what it is going to lead into, whereas with Rellana she has so many mix ups you have to be constantly on your toes, and her quick combo starters are brutally fast. Best of luck man and hopefully you can conquer that fight soon. Also, who are you doing next after Rellana?

Thanks! I know when I was learning the boss it helped a lot to see how other people dodged his crazier moves and what moves people punished so I’m glad my video can do the same for others.

@@mic01851165 Thanks! I honestly feel like this fight is hard mostly for two reasons, the moves are confusing to counter, and he is insanely aggressive. Once you learn how to dodge his attacks I actually think there aren’t many that are too bad and if you are able to keep up with him his aggression is much more manageable, so the longer you keep up with him the easier he gets. Of course the fight is still very scary but learning the proper counters to moves and the flow of the fight makes it much less overwhelming

@@MCS_Sunset Yeah, they recently buffed them so now their charged heavy’s deal a lot of poise damage and have pretty quick animations. The moveset and damage in general is pretty bad but the stagger build up is some of the best in the game and against a boss like Midra with brittle poise it is crazy how often you can get staggers

@@LampseekerForevermore Yes, it’s awesome that Elden king has so many different torches you can use in different situations. Steel wire is usually the best but the versatility is very nice

@@grayestrat Thanks! Messmer was definitely the most fun to Hitless of the bosses I did and I recommend using and unoptimized weapon because he honestly feels too easy with optimal damage I think.

@@grayestrat Thanks! I realized that for most bosses using scadu fragments gave me enough extra damage and talismans and physick made me kill the bosses faster than I wanted. I think I only used talismans and physick for Radahn and Messmer and I only used them for Messmer because I had a +12 instead of +25

@@grayestrat For rl1 no. I think for Hitless bosses keeping your fragments low or at 0 can make the fights more interesting but I still recommend you fragment up for Radahn and Metyr. On level 1 no fragments is absolutely brutal, some bosses are a bit easy but it basically forces you to Hitless all of the later bosses and I would recommend just using a weaker weapon if a boss feels too easy. Of course you can try it but it is an absolute nightmare and I would say you should wait until you’ve done regular level 1 and then try it at 0 fragments, at least that’s what I’m doing

@@grayestrat Thanks! This guy gets destroyed by Star Fists but it was still a pretty fun kill. I did a Hitless of him where I don’t kill him in 2 seconds with an op weapon and I very much enjoyed learning him

Also brave of you to play online, losing internet connection when the boss has one hit left would be traumatic

@@grayestrat I honestly would have used a spirit on this guy but I didn’t have one set up and I would have had to go all the way back through the catacombs so I just pushed through. The best Strat I found was just trying to keep him on the ground as long as possible because if you get a cr2 after a backstab or riposte, you can usually get two after an attack and combo it into another stagger but as soon as he decides to teleport it becomes extremely messy. Also I just forgot to go offline, I was pretty lucky it didn’t lose me a good attempt.
