A time when people actually talked to each other and interacted.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Chris.
THE HABS BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS NOT MAKING SCOTTY BOWMAN GENERAL MANAGER AFTER THAT 79 STANLEY CUP IRVING GRUNDMAN WHAT HAS HE REALLY DONE FOR THE HABS
NOW THAT WAS CLUB DE HOCKEY AT IS BEST MONTREAL CANADIANS
John Sterling at his best! GOAL! ISLANDER GOAL! ISLANDER GOAL!
... Who Is ' Stanley ' and do the Winners get a Champions Cup 🏆 or Do they Win a "Cup-Cup that Stanley Wore?"... COME ON STAN YOUR THE MAIN MAN 3:11
Tim Ryan was fantastic no matter what sport he worked.
Who watching this hoping Mets force game 6 tonight
Reminiscing on past events. On three. Without Parent in net? And with the fire power Montreal had that year? Hmmnn? That’s curtains for Philadelphia. It would have been interesting though. If Bernie parent had been in net for the flyers. Though. Bernie against ken Dryden? What an incredible match up! Possibly the two greatest professional hockey goalies of all time. It’s possible. Look at their statistics and accomplishments. Toronto idiotically traded Bernie parent. What strange general managers and coaches do something that absurd? Torontos coaches and owners have been idiots for a long time. What a pity. Anyways. Ken Dryden versus Bernie parent? That’s actually Worth watching even for that goalie match up alone… For the 1976 Stanley cup final. Philadelphia flyers 1971 to 1980. What a great team. If it wasn’t for the talent Boston Montreal and the islander’s possessed? I meanthe 1980!islanders ? As Philadelphia was primed as the best team in 1980. Generally speaking. anyways. If it wasn’t for the fact Boston Montreal and the 1980 islanders existed? From 1971 to 1980? Including the 1980 islanders? It’s possible Philadelphia would have won ten straight cups. From 1971 straightway to 1980. The flyers were all talent. During those years. Unfortunately second best in the league 8 times is not something people usually remember. O well. Kootoo to the flyers from 1971 to 1980 regardless. For being a team of super hockey legends. . Period.
*funny thing is, Flyers roster had only Canadian players while Habs had two US-born (ok Chartraw was born in Venezuela but US citizen)*
*I love this: no stupid ads on the ice, none on the boards, no electronic ads on your tv crawling on the boards, no extended breaks just for tv commercials... two incredibly strong teams and funky music!!*
... So you're Happier Than Most but Sadder than Some.... Not Too Bad 'o' Spot to Find Oneself Old Bean... Cheerio
Hi.. Where do you find these videos? My grandpa is Venasky in this video and I’d love to find more film of him playing!
Glad you enjoyed. I recorded this off the radio as a kid. Check out my channel for others.
Yap
True they are the best been a fan since 72
This was the game where it was very windy st Shea Stadium. I think it was a 13 to 6 Kansas City win. Namrh was something like 14 out of 40 passing. The wind was very heavy for passing
Would’ve been interesting to see a healthy MacLeish and Parent playing in these playoffs.
One of the Habs, years later, remarked there was a reason why the Canadien players were sitting down for pictures with the Cup after taking Game Four. That's how exhausted they were from the physical demand of sweeping a team as good as Philly.
bob wilson appreciated any good hockey
bob wilson was better than watching on tv
Two greatest dynasty’s were the Habs of the 70s and the Oilers of the 80s
I loved pulling for Wayne Stephenson. Great story filling in for Bernie....unfortunately you cannot be just an adequate back up goalie. He played well at times....just not Stanley Cup level especially against a Juggernaut like that Habs team
Bill Campbell is gold on the airwaves. He called Chamberlain's 100 point game for the Philadelphia Warriors, the complete 4th quarter audio of the Dipper's feat survived! I miss my old Bulls. My favorite Bulls team is 74/75 year. Thank you for sharing!
They don’t make them like him anymore, haven’t for a long time. Deep baritone, similar to Boston Bruins announcer Bob Wilson.
We don't care about crummy dorky Islander "broadcasters". Where is Marv Albert ?
I remember listening on my transistor radio when I was a kid. They used the call of the Hart goal in this game as the intro to all of the games on WMCA for a couple of years after.
Who said the Flyers only could only play the goon part of the game? Bobby Clarke won his 3 rd Hart Trophy 🏆 👏 in 4 years as NHL MVP
Okudera’s equaliser led to the back page headline the next day… “Forest sunk by Jap sub”. Of course, it turned out two weeks later that Forest had not been sunk after all.
Great stuff
I was at this game and it was the first game that the goal siren was used.
Was this the "Double Chili" game?
No, that was later- 11/14/79
If John Sterling was still calling play by play for The Islanders, especially when they won their first Stanley Cup, he'd be saying ISLANDERS GOAL, ISLANDER GOAL OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
Over the top even back then
Reggie Leach had an amazing playoffs, but the Conn Smythe should have gone to Guy Lafleur imo - Canadiens swept the Flyers !
Loved Big Bird !
No Bernie Parent.... Interesting!
Marv Albert was the best radio play by play announcer for basketball and hockey ever.
I was a 13 year old Ranger fan listening to it on my transistor radio. I was crushed after that OT Goal. Kinda got me ready for alot of heartbreak 💔 being a Ranger fan lol. The Islanders became a good than great team after this game.
15.00 - What a balls-up, they cut to the bloke in the radio station who's giving score updates and misses the only goal of the game!
lol, as I read your comment I was literally listening to 5 Live football commentary on the radio- in which they had cut to reports from other matches!
My buddy had this on a cassette tape and if you rode in his car, you were gonna hear it. Eventually I almost had the damn thing memorized! I was a Bulls fan, and we lived in Chicago, but we were all-in on the Knicks in these finals (Frazier was a star a Southern Illinois University, so we were on the Clyde bandwagon). Tremendous play-by-play by a young Marv Albert. "DeBuschre from 20, YES!" 😀
Great story.. I think anybody who owned those Fleetwood albums played them over and over again.
boy, takes me back to being a young kid listening in bed with my radio to the Hawks games.... the sounds of the crowd, the screeching horn, the booming organ.... wow. It wasn't until 80/81 until i was old enough to get season tickets in the 2nd balcony for about 8 years. Best times of my life :)
❤Thanks Very much bbc Loddon. ❤
Yes they did, i worked for him one yr. He went on to Edmonton oilers
Market Square Arena was great days
I use to b a stick boy for the Racers
Thanx whoever posted this.
You're welcome, I taped this off the radio from my home in North Jersey. I remember, falling asleep, and regretting that I hadn’t put in a new tape.
Good ol days, I'm 61 now lol
That w game was n Cincinnati how y'all get it n jersey
Great days
I probably listened to these games when they originally aired
I hear ya, Bob Wilson was an enjoyable listen
Montreal deserved the Cup , they were a great team but the Flyer’s battled with them every step of the way. Great series.
Wow…this was the same day the Giants lost to the Eagles…”the Miracle at the Meadowlands”
