I’m really confused about the hype surrounding this school. It seems like it’s the parents and students who are putting in all the effort by enrolling in academies, preparing for entrance tests, and going through a rigorous selection process just to get admitted. If a school is already cherry-picking the top students in Lahore by making them go through such a tough admission system, what’s so remarkable about the school itself? I would give Aitchison credit if they admitted an average student and helped them shine. That would truly showcase the school’s excellence

What subjects did he have in O and A Levels

A great interview People worry about those 25 million kids who are out of schools and I worry about the poor quality of education even our elite A level schools are offering. The point of teachers student ratio is quite pertinent and highlights a related issue of lack of formative assessments and feedback of teachers. The more students you have and more schools you choose to teach at, less willing and available you become to read the work of your students. And if a teacher goes through their students work casually, they hardly know how to feedback to the students. Students also prefer to listen than to write. I am afraid most of the students write for more than 90 minutes at a stretch only on the day of their exam and that too who are better students. In the present system, only the self motivated and able students can excel at A level. The system has no space for backbenchers and for those who lag behind and teachers support. Todays teachers may have many traits but they can not inspire a student to be self learners.

Thank you for your question! Getting admission at Aitchison College (AC) can be competitive as it requires meeting certain academic standards and going through an entrance test and interview process. If you’re interested, I’d recommend researching their admission criteria and preparing accordingly. Best of luck!

This was a better session and a very helpful one than the previous one! But for first time IB parents plz add some basic questions like how is ib different from the Cambridge schools in early years, like explain with examples how do they teach like ABCs in IB as compared to in Cambridge? As most of the Cambridge schools also have different activities so what basically is the difference in the method in the very early years? And as for parents do we need to teach our kids at home also after like they come from school as the IB schools alrady have so much time so it becomes difficult for us to teach our kids as they are so much exhausted after the long school hours? And why is there screen time for early years as we r most of the time advised to avoid screen time for such young children! Won't it be better if the teachers are more trained and sing the songs or poems instead of just playing them on tv? Plz do include such basic questions also next time with examples!

My dream is to see such well-rounded educationists lifting up the government-owned education system so as a country we can work towards decreasing the income disparity. Thanks for this. Ayesha, plz in ur next podcast, get these questions answered, from some ib expert. 1. What is ib? 2. How is a school recognised as an ib school? 3. Requirements of ib school eg grounds or cafeteria? 4. Timings for ib school? 5. How are the teachers ib trained? Where do they go for training? 6. How many times and how are the teachers assessed for IB each year? 7. Difference between ib and Cambridge esp in early years as ib claims to be activity based but all the schools in early years are activity based so where is the difference? 8. Why is there screen time in early years in ib? And why is screen learning essential at this level? 9. Ib in middle year and dp? 10. Future of ib? 11. Is there any deduction in marks in ib when we will be getting the equivalence in HEC when applying for universities in Pakistan?

There are so many issues pertaining to hiring of the faculty, well being and inclusion in the schools and training of the teachers. We talk about nepotism in politics but i believe nepotism and favoritism in the academic sector is severing up to alarming levels which should be discussed too.
