Hi! I’m Mackenzie, and I’m an artist from Payson, Utah USA.
As a busy stay-at-home mom, I've found ways to leverage my passion to make a profit, all while doing it from the comfort of my own home (and while the babies sleep). I want to show you what's possible with your art, even if you're a busy mom with little time available.
Creating marketable art is extremely gratifying, especially when it provides an income! Not only am I a fine artist, but I'm a pattern designer as well. I license my paintings and patterns to companies in industries like wallpaper, fabric, and wall art. It's an extremely exciting way to get my artwork out into the world!

As a busy stay-at-home mom who’s building an art business while my babies sleep, having a space of my own to create is SUCH A BLESSING! I’ve spent most of my life creating without a studio so I know what that’s like (=TRICKY). BUT having an art studio does not solve a lot of problems if you don’t have proper lighting.

Wow, I loved watching you create! So interesting to see your process of colour mixing as well, thanks for including that in the video. Both paintings are beautiful 😍 Just one question: I was surprised to see you painting in a ‘black’ room! Is that intentional to ensure the light doesn’t change during the time you’re painting? And how do you ensure you have enough good quality light to see colours accurately? (daylight bulbs, or…?) This is interesting to me because soon I’ll be moving my studio from an upstairs bedroom full of natural light to a basement room with little natural light 😫 I don’t paint with oils but am hoping to do more watercolour and gouache. Oh, and thanks again for choosing my wallpaper design with Loomwell, even when you have so many beautiful designs of your own 💕
Hello Anna! That's a great question about the room. Because my studio is in a windowless room, I've taken advantage of the situation to take full control of the lighting. The black curtains are there to cover up the OLD wood paneling on the walls. I have a lot of different lighting options to work with in there but the main ones I use are the hair pin lamps above the easel. (I found a great video about studio lighting that I can send to you). My husband and I are always talking about how much we love your wallpaper. Your skills are amazing!
