The Shiver Show brings you strange and chilling tales of crime, horror and science fiction - from the golden era of radio (aka 'old time radio'), as well as new audio dramas. Co-hosts Mary Labrie and Greg Flynn talk about what makes each of these dramas so special - whether it be their creepy music, compelling voice actors, spooky sound effects or timeless themes. Turn off the lights, curl up in a safe place, and get ready to have your pants scared off.
The Time Machine - Old Time Radio
Who isn't fascinated with the idea of time travel? The Time Machine, is an episode that first aired on the Escape Series in 1950. The Time Machine was written by H.G. Wells in 1895, when he was only twenty-nine.
This episode has superb performances by Jeff Corey (as Doctor Dudley) and Eric Rolf (as Faller) and a terrific music score by Wilbur Hatch.
Mary and Greg talk about their preferred time travel destinations, whether the Eloi resemble Teletubbies, and H.G. Wells' reputation as a 'lady's man.'
