Building a Squaredrop Trailer on a Budget: Part 2 - Tongue and Hitch
Welcome back to the channel!
Today, I am walking you through the second part of my squaredrop trailer build by addressing the tongue and hitch of the trailer.
I am building a squaredrop trailer, inspired by @PlayingwithSticks and his budget camper. My goal is to keep total cost under $3500 dollars. This video is part one and is the initial frame building for the trailer.

    you may regret the short tongue. Likely your going to damage your tow vehicle when backing up, and the trailer will be very twitchy when backing up. For the want of one more crossmember.

      Thanks for your concern. However, 3 inches will not make or break the driving dynamics of the trailer. And if it does I will be the first to come back on here and say you were right

      Raptor so far seems to be overly complicated and has a lot of great ideas but not a main stream easy to use device as of yet. Still playing around with it.

      I own both the Raptor and the otter 3d scanners and I have to say the Raptor is just mind blowing! Mind you I have been a professional 3D modeller for nearly 25 years. Please look up the your channel “Payo”. You really want to 3d print tracking marker towers with neodymium magnets in the base.

      Thanks. I am looking forward to building it. Still looking at best course for attaching wooden frame to the trailer but all in due time. I really liked how you did the doors out of the plywood so I will be doing a similar setup

      roughly, ummm probably around 1200 - 1400 lbs. Me and 3 buddies picked it up to move horizontally for some reason...

      Hey, thanks for watching. I included the feet I used in the description of the video. The items I welded to the legs are just the threads for the adjustable feet to go in and out of. The feet themselves have a replaceable felt pad to protect surfaces

      I would have to double check the initial measurements. But it was designed to haul atleast a jeep grand cherokee at 72" wide with a few inches to spare. But you are right, I should have shown a measurement of between the rails

    great job but what I needed to see was the shroud going on...I just cant get it to seat with the bed knife...arrgh

      Yeah, so the shroud is a little tricky, and depends on whether you have the new one or the old version. Mine has tabs that need to mount onto the bed knife that help it to locate.

    I want speed and functional parts. I'm used to sanding and using putty then painting my parts. So as long as layer adhesion is good, I'm happy. Its just insane for the speed out of the box, no upgrades.

      yes for out of the box speeds this printer is very hard to beat. I did end up printing an enclosure and running some acrylic side panels to get consistent temps in my workspace

      @@RandomDudeWorkshop Bro, I can help you. Made a few videos myself. Painting is relaxing to watch. Remember Bob Ross. So, your music should be soothing but upbeat, like lofi music. You could also stop in the middle and do a little explaining for people who don't understand what you're doing, and are looking for some guidance. You can lower the music and talk over it while it plays in the background. Some people (like the guy who commented) only know how to criticize others. They can't give feedback because they are talentless and don't know how to fix the issue.

      @@RandomDudeWorkshop You do good work. I just finished painting a trailer yesterday. Used an A610 gun on a Fortress 29gal air compressor from Harbor Frieght. Turned out great. No problems. I used to paint fighter aircraft in the Air Force. I miss it.

      Check the trailer tongue for rated weight because ultimately that will help you determine what size axles you have and what they are capable of.

    I have replaced my Prusas for these machines and till now (300 hours of printing) they work perfect and much faster.

      Yeah the prusa has a great platform and the slicer is one of the best. However, this slicer by Bambu in it's infancy has so many of the included things such as wifi connectivity, link to camera(if equipped) built in multi filament support. I am interested to see how it progresses. Also interested to see if traditional companies like Prusa will release an affordable answer to the Bambu lab or if they will innovate another way.

      @@RandomDudeWorkshop such a great system also with the AMS sometimes you need petg sometimes multicolor sometimes pla. Its very nice how it works and it just works. Support is also great with response times.

      @@xIsouLcruSHca to be honest, I had more resonance with my prusas then bambulabs. But they are fast and can be loud. They have a slow mode (i believe still faster then prusas) and then they are much quieter. But in general they are not louder then a Prusa printer

      Thanks for the comment. Yeah now that you mention it I have watched a lot of other reviews and most of them were given the unit. Hope any information I gave you or insight was helpful. The creality I had originally while slow comparatively, was a good entry point . But the plug and play ability from the p1p is phenomenal. The corexy they had was a decent idea but the cost put most people off from it as they couldn't get the slicer to make it much faster without a large 3d printing background

      @@RandomDudeWorkshop I forgot the ender 5 isn't a true corexy. It does have a ridgid frame like a corexy which in theory an experienced 3d printer could tweak it alot for performance. The ender 7 looks decent if I had room for another printer I would try it out but I already have 8 printers, anymore and they got to go in the garage 😄
