It's incredible how most people see this as a tragic love story. How the power of romanticism can have such a hold on us. If you get to the meat and bones of it - they were having an adulterous affair, but the movie just presents it from the perspective of the people who are in the affair. If the exact same storyline was presented but thru the eyes of the husband and children of Meryl Streep - everyone would be hating on Clint Eastwood.

The tragedy of this movie is that a third movie was never made following US Marshals because they made a great team or warrant squad. Samuel Gerrard, Cosmo, Cooper and Briggs. Unfortunately Newman the young man got killed off in Marshals by Robert Downey. As many viewers have commented there was great banter and camaraderie within the team and Tommy Lee Jones was an ideal leader, with Joey a perfect foil for him.

I was 12 in 1995 and watched this at The Presidio Theater in San Francisco. Me and about a hundred women cried our fuckin eyes out all at once. A woman in her 30's grabbed my hand and asked me if I was alright. I Rollerbladed my ass back to the train (Bart) station, and fed the lady in control of the gate the same load of bullshit I'd fed get last week; that I was just a kid and needed to get home to my mom. And just like last week, she let my stroll through the turnstile and hop on the train. I'm 40 now, and not quite sure where my life is going, but I'm not afraid, because I'm happy. Sometimes a smile is ya need.

God, I'll miss this guy. This is the most amazing description of Clockwork Orange that I have ever heard.

The banter between Cosmo and Gerard was great and continued into US Marshals. Wish there had been a few more US Marshals movies with the same group of actors. But Joe Pantoliano deserves a bit more credit than he gets.

Joey Pants is a smart and gutsy guy. He was absolutely right to keep his options open, no matter what Harrison Ford or anyone else had to say on the issue.

I'm glad they didn't kill Cosmo. He was a really likable character and it would have soured the ending a bit.
