An art meme based on Agatha Christie’s whodunnit, “Death on the Nile”. I hesitate to call it an animatic, it’s more like an art showcase. The Hercule Poirot portrayed here is based off Kenneth Branagh’s portrayal. We appreciate all Poirot portrayals here. Absolutely fantastic. Loved every minute. Excellent acting by both Ian Holm and Peggy Ashcroft - and of course Chico!
This is the worst thing I ever saw . Terrible mystery. A story about writing the book about poirot dying.
Wow Agatha Christie was watching kojack on BBC 1
I saw this a long time ago a have been looking for it ever sense thaaaaaaaanks!
Oh that moustache! 😮 Very interesting story though.
Now the character is talking me into some hot chocolate ... with either whipped cream or marshmellows . Oh yummy . ❤
thanks!
I love the confrontation between Poirot and Christie. She explained why she killed him off. She did not want other writers taking him and putting him in ridiculous productions. Look what they have done to Sherlock Holmes.
Now I have to go and read "Curtain" again....
She was Lady Mallowan . Wife of a professor of Western Asiatic Archaeology at the University of London. I saw them at the Institute of Archaeology in the 1950's
Very well done. Thank you for this.
When Agatha finally gets rid of Poirot, the NY Times literally put in his obituary! I think it was on the front page. Agatha was sorry she ever created him. Amazing. You have to love how her brain worked. She seriously had distain for a fictional character, that she created!
Poirot is our avuncular! What a character!
I wish they’d release this in DVD! I had an old vhs of it years ago.
@@sandraelder1101 I hope so too and in a remastered higher quality! But unfortunately the original film was said to have been damaged or destroyed some time ago. Our only hopes now is perhaps that some foreign tv station has copy of the film somewhere, but it’s not certain
Dear God, all I did was read the description of this book and I am smiling from ear to ear.
It was a made for TV movie. I think it would make a wonderful stage play.
I didn't know Ian Holm played Poirot, cool!
Absolutely brilliant writing and acting.. really enjoyed that, thank you for posting! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As a lifelong Christie fan - and having undertaken a pilgrimage to travel to all the places mentioned in her novels (which I completed on my 60th birthday) - I do think she missed a trick not propelling the wonderful Ariadne Oliver to fictional fame. What a spirited sleuth she would have made, in my book!
Love Ariadne
I completely agree. 👍🏻
I love anything to do with Agatha Christie and Poirot. So not complaining! From India🇮🇳
Despite being put together on a limited budget compared to the David Suchet series the acting is superb, the script has some very nice nuances, and this has been made by professionals who, imho, cared considerably for their work. Bravo! BTW, because someone loves chocolate ice cream doesn't make all the other flavors stink.
The film is interesting . Peggy Ashcroft and Ian Holm were great actors . However , no other actor does it better than David Suchet ... the #1 Best Hercule Peroit . 🎉😊
wow...
This was wonderful. I must recommend it to every Christie fan out there. Clever, and worthy of the both Ms Christie and Poirot.
This looks like Greenway. Was this filmed there or was it just a set made to look like her holiday home? I was at Greenway just a couple of days ago. This is charming. Although their choice of actor for Poirot was unfortunate.
@@pamelablum6459 As far as one can tell, the exterior shots were not filmed on Greenway House. But I’m not too sure about the interior scenes, it doesn’t seem they filmed it at Greenway, but it looks the production made an effort to atleast resemble it
Agatha Christie with a coffee perculator....How very unBritish
This was released in 1987. The series with David Suchet in it didn’t start until 1989. Comparing them is ridiculous. Ian Holm did an excellent job under the circumstances. It's a low budget, made for TV movie. I found it delightful.
Interesting factoid.
Yes. Delightful!
What a great and clever movie. Peggy Ashcroft would have made a great tv Miss Marple instead of Joan Hickson, who is my favorite. Poirot was, of course, irritating and obnoxious. No wonder she wanted to kill him off, as she said in this delightful film. Was Poirot in the books Murder at the Gallop and Murder Most Foul instead of Marple? I really should read her books again,
David Suchet would have been better for this and I bet the dog wouldn’t attack Suchet’s Poirot 😅
Then it would ruin this whole premise of the story would just go along for the ride why don't you...
@@JG-uu1ojPerhaps this story is what we would call a ‘fan film’ nowadays 😂 I personally think she dreamed the whole thing and woke up the next morning and thought to herself ‘yes, I’m definitely killing him off now’ 🫠
One word per sentence that's 'foreign accented' is rather unconvincing
I love it! Writer and fictional character! ❤😎👏✍️
EXCELENTE CAPÍTULO... UNA MARAVILLA SOBRE EL COMPORTAMIENTO DE UN AUTOR Y UN MAGNÍFICO PERSONAJE... ... FASCINANTES LOS DIÁLOGOS.
Wonderful! Thank you!
What a fabulous storyline❤
Dreadful drama Plenty of murder in real life!
This is a Lousey Agatha Christie. The guy playing Poirot looks' like he's wearing a mask, which he ovisely is. but this version leaves a lot to be desired, like quality, and acting skills.
The actor is Ian Holm. Quite a good actor. He played Bilbo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
THE ACTOR AS POIROT IS COMPLETLY WRONG
Good movie 🤩🤩🤩💖💖
No way… dropping a hand typed manuscript, Willy-Nilly on the floor!?! Do you know how long, and how frustrating, it would be to re-collate that mess? 😂😢
😅😅
Page numbers...
lan Holm is a brilliant character actor quite my favourite but..... this disappointed me.
Interesting concept of when the character comes to life to confront the writer.
Not a good movie....rather boring.
He is so arrogant. Lousy actor.
He is if your comparison is to David suchet, mais oui, but he is a simple early actor of this character. He did not have time to develop pirotfully.😊
This is not a bad Poirot, although I have trouble penetrating his accent sometimes when he speaks too quickly. The wig and the mustache are unfortunate, but this program is clearly not a high-budget endeavor. And at least, at the very least, they did not make him so ridiculously fat as they did Suchet, for some reason that has always escaped me. Poirot was not fat in the books, he was a small man with a touch of embonpoint, which means he was slightly pigeon-breasted. Ian Holm's outfit and configuration seem just about right to me. As for the story, well, it to is not bad.
If it’s not David Suchet, it is not Poirot.
Agreed 😊
This is Very Silly.
YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THE 1930'S - 50'S sense of humour YOU ARE TOO YOUNG TO GET IT
@@robertandrews5640 I most certainly do. And the story is not set in either of these decades. Agatha here is shown in her 80s, it is 1975. Nothing to do with the sense of humour. It is the concept which is silly, the cat and mouse game between author and her creation etc.
I’ve read every Poirot and Miss Marple many times over and although the premise of this was very interesting, this was one of the strangest and creepiest things I’ve ever seen. There was a malevolence, a darkness, to it that was out of place. And whoever did Poirot’s makeup, should be arrested. It was so awfully fake and it made him look evil and menacing, which, he so clearly, was not. In addition, Poirot would never commit murder, either with a gun or by poisoning. I’m not sure if it was in the writing or the direction, because it certainly wasn’t in the acting, but I really have to say, both Agatha Christie and Hercule Poirot deserved so much better.
Read Poirot's Last Case. Poirot does, indeed, commit murder.
Actually Poirot does commit murder and he does use a gun in curtain.
A little note of interest is that Nick Evan’s script was approved by Rosalind Hicks, Christie’s own daughter, who was arguably just like her mother when it came to know what was appropriate to do with her works. Thanks to Dr. Mark Aldridge’s research, we also know this film was appreciated by the family, so at the least, there was never any negative feelings from the family
CHRISTIE DIED IN 1973 KOJAK WAS ON THE TV SO WHEN DID SHE WRITE THE FINAL POIROT THEN ? JUST SAW BOOK WRITTEN ABOUT 1944 SUCHET PLAYED THE PART SUBLIMELY SAD TO END THOUGH ♥️🙏🌈
Christie died in 76. As her health declined in her last years, she released some books she had started but not released earlier in her career.
Terrible, like a bad acid trip.
Lol!
This is SUCH a cool video, I have watched it at least a dozen times and I will continue to do so in the future.
A total surprise!
