HAI Lecture Series | Dr. Emily Bray
Emily Bray is an assistant professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Arizona, where she directs the Behavioral Research Across Years Lab. Dr. Bray earned her Bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her PhD in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Before starting her current position, she was a post-doctoral research associate at the Arizona Canine Cognition Center and Canine Companions, the nation's largest provider of service dogs for people with disabilities. Over the past decade, she has developed and implemented cognitive tasks in hundreds of dogs from both pet and working dog populations, forming the basis for projects ranging in scope from early maternal care to cognitive aging to understanding the contribution of genetics to behavioral traits. Since 2023, the Animal Behavior Society has also credentialed her as a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist. By building a comprehensive understanding of dog behavioral and cognitive health, she aims to enhance both canine and human welfare.

Wonderful program! Best wishes for success.
This is so fascinating! Thank you for sharing your findings. I wonder if the children with higher levels of methylation are in social situations less and so they need a smaller amount of time to get a bigger reward from a social interaction and if methylation levels can be measured over time! I love how many more questions this introduces

All veterinary schools are essentially obsolete in trying to educate everyone to do everything. It is the past glory that has become the ignorance of the present .
The student speaker, Nicole, did a fantastic, memorable speech. What a speaker!! "Live the dash!....Just sayin' "
This was so incredibly fascinating and informative. It’s true - you never hear about how an animal is affected in these interactions where humans are meant to benefit the most. I also love that this explored the intricacies of animal welfare, and how we can reasonably measure it. Thank you for your presentation, but also for your extensive research and commitment to this subject, Dr. Ng!

Hey, love the work. You might be interested in this channel 👉 #drjohnaking. I find him encouraging and insightful.
Growing up, my blind father had Seeing Eye dog(s) that he took with him to work as a public middle school teacher where the dog(s) was around hundreds of students each day in a confined social environment. The high training of the dog(s) was crucial around the young teenagers. The emotional strain became apparent on the dog when it would come time for them to retire from an abnormally high social life to being lonely at home. I work in the main office of a large pet retailer where we can bring pets into work - when COVID caused everyone to work from home, my dog showed a similar reaction of melancholy with the loss of daily interactions.
Woo hoo!
