Fertilizing seedlings. What will happen?
I used fine powdered sulfur from Safer’s. I mix 1 tablespoon per liter (4 liters to a gallon - Canada eh) then agitate really well and spray all over leaves - top, underneath, stems, vines. I start early in season and do this weekly. I have minimal to no PM. Just came 1st in BC Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off with 1161 lb beauty. Good luck next year!
How's the patch going since this update? curious to see
Where did you get the mill cloth?
@@Czibs111 a guy off of bigpumpumpkims.com. I think his name was Mark Morals.
@@thesouthernpumpkingrower60 thank you
Why not bury your vines?
@@michaelritter6172 I live in Kentucky if you bury vines here you won’t have any in a few weeks the heat and humidity will rot them out quick.
How do you decide which pumpkin to keep and which one to cut out. I have three I pollinated(big max) on end of main vine , thanks
@@Nvent1 several factors, try to get the one further out on main vine with a good shape.
@@thesouthernpumpkingrower60 awesome thank you
Keep em going
So I have a question I’m kinda new to this , I have 2 that’s just grew in the past couple of days and so far they have took flower is gone and they are doubling in size ,, Do I need to get rid of the secondary vines and the one that’s growing past these or leave them 🤷♀️ ❤
Can you let me know the benefits from the fan? Much appreciated! I’m hoping the one i pollinated will continue to be a big mother.
One of the biggest issues for Giant Pumpkins is rot and disease both love wet conditions. The fans keep everything dry and and healthy. My fans run 24/7
Thank you! I may need to ass that to my inventory and see if that helps. Much appreciated.
That’s bizarre on the 1707. The pumpkin that isn’t growing well and the pear shape on the new pumpkins must be related. Any theories?
I’m thinking the seed is losing vigor as it gets older but really have know idea.
I've got a pumpkin that keeps setting fruit like that with a strang looking section close to the stem
I had those spots show up last year later in the season, was worried it might be start of fungal infection by the distribution, I dusted sulphur all over the pumpkin and it never came to anything. I spray sulfur solution on my leaves weekly and in soil and stems and have never had powdery mildew too.
I appreciate it thank you.
What kind of sulfur solution do you use for leaves?
Looking great! I like a good patch tour
Whew! hot time in the patch, hopefully your a early riser.
cut a slice in the opposite direction an the split won't continue
I’m not sure I’m to that point yet. Going to give it a little more time before I pull the knife out.
@@thesouthernpumpkingrower60 I made that cut about 8 times last year on the 2184 it heals up nice and I like to cut it early...anytime I see a split I cut it as a preventative measure
She looks really good. I'm not growing giants, but volunteer decorative squash. Yep, last year's compost gave me some surprises- a Cinderella-shaped big orange and 2 pound green and yellow carnivals. I'm so impressed with the amount of care that goes into your single fruit.😊 I've only given water and some weed water fertilizer. So far, 5, 25 pounders and 17 of the littles.
Dope plant !!
I see you have the tertiary vibes intact. I’ve been trimming mine as soon as they appear. I don’t have the setup like pure soil so mine is growing on grass and I bury vines. Nice work!
Yeah I would feel the same way.. Great plant maybe it goes heavy
That's the spread of one plant? Shoot we need about one square mile and 30 caretakers
@@hadleymanmusic yes only one plant and one pumpkin.
Sap analyses results?
@@PH-Olsen yes I had it done?
Hi from italy! I've also got a 37 days old pumpkin that's maturing, right now it's around 550 pounds and growing about 30-ish a day. Seed was a 1632.5 Companion, very good looking plant (it's les than half the size of yours though!) but it's being attacked by lots of fungi and bacteria due to high humidity and temperatures these days... Anyway, good looking patch!
@@GiovaF12 Thank you, I hope yours keeps growing and you can get a big one this year.
Thanks ❤😢🎉❤🎉😢❤🎉
This is badass!
Hey I am trying my first time to grow a giant pumpkin but I am very late to start. I started some seeds do you think I can still grow a sizeable fruit?
U pollinate it and water and fertilize it,grow till it stops or Halloween, baby it and pollinate, good luck…..
Wonderful job!
Wow! Now that’s some SERIOUS pumpkin growing!
Fun! I've never grown pumpkins but cannot wait to try next year. I had no idea Casper's got so big. I have seeds and thought it was a small pumpkin. Your setup looks amazing, new subscriber ❤
it should go 50 then 60s possibly 70s if it goes down after a week of 50s probably 2000 pounder but if it gets in the 60s and 70s you got a dandy you should get a week of 50s or more if not 2
I like the way you think however that’s not generally how things turnout in our climate. I am really envious of your weather. I will get a lot of those bigger numbers but for a shorter timeframe. I have never had a pumpkin grow more then 70-75 days it’s just to hot and humid. It’s July first and I have already had 14 days over 92 degrees.
My leafs are doing that aswell older leafs aging maybe I'm thinking
Barron fruit is a dandy.
Thanks doc
My leaf edges are doing the same thing.
I don’t know what’s causing it.
Question❓️when did you start your patch this year geez mine is very small. I started germinating two months ago and planted them outside last month. Gosh the vines are already thick and running across your yard. I know I've been dealing with a bug problem a fungus problem their looking dark green now and healthier but how'd you get them to grow so good and fast?
Looking strong Josh. I want to see one of those gals at Roberts and one at Wild and Wonderful.
If all 3 make it I will definitely come to your weigh off. Looking forward to it.
Off to a great start, best of luck rest of the season!!!
Thank you
Patch is going to fill in fast and you look to be setup for a great season. Nice update
Thanks Scott
Looks good
Thank you.
Where located?
Kentucky
Where do you find these seeds?
😃🎉 Excellent I subscribed to your channel 🙏
Looking great! For me I have to use the overhead water in conjunction with the drip tape. Drip tape is great for deep penetration especially when fertilizing. Overhead handles that top 1/2”-1” which is critical for setting roots and dealing with heat.
Great analysis. Absolutely right. Thank you.
Things look amazing, good luck this year!
1686.5 has caught up nicely. Looking good sir.
Thanks doc. The 1686.5 is really shaping out to be a good one.
You are way ahead of me. I don't even have flowers yet.
No worries you have time to grow a big one.
Man, you have a great start going. It's going to be an exciting year
I really hope I can make it one. Still slot of time.
Wow. Your plants are doing great. I thought mine was doing well but you have me beat by far.
Your plants are cranking ! It appears most growers are way ahead of where they usually are at this time.
Thank you. Hoping for a good year.
Yep don’t bury in our areas if you want to be successful year after year
Ya we had talked about that before. You have had great success with it and I plan on it as well.
Looking good! Love the size. Wish mine had taken off like that.
Why is Florida's record so low? Is it because of the heat? Or lack of growers down here?
I planted a dill Atlantic. And so far it is thriving. I am getting between 7 to 12 inches of growth per a day so far.
On the Dill being only a thousand pound pumpkin. How many secondaries should I go for? Lol so I am just super excited about these pumpkins.
Hey brother! What do you use to help combat squash bugs?!
Most of us use 2 different types of insecticide. A systemic like Imacrapoid. Then we use a contact insecticide like Talstar.
Still looking great on each.
Thanks Doc.
