Fredrik Widigs (2016) - Marduk - Frontschwein (live drum cam)
This footage is of the title track of Marduk’s “Frontschwein”, recorded in Warsaw in 2016.
The characteristic and somewhat unconventional snare pattern over the double-bass part in the middle of the song - which was meant to emphasise the vocal pattern - was the brilliant invention of Mortuus. Performing it correctly turned out to be quite the challenge, both technically and rhythmically, but it makes perfect sense once one fully grasps how the drums and vocals intertwine.

Just realised that I have a lot of old drum-cam footage which, for various reasons, was never uploaded. However, I have reconsidered: perhaps they serve a better purpose online, as opposed to just sitting on my hard-drive. Hopefully, they can help inspire a new generation of metal drummers. My own work is done, the torch has been passed! First off, we have this video recorded in Warsaw in 2016....

Magnificent. Marduk had have a lot of great drummers in his line up. But this guy, among with Frederick, are the best among them. Superb interpretation, tasteful crash combination to add up to the overall rhythm, and magnificent technique. Even Mortuus enjoyed it in there. What a blast... 🤘🤘🤘

No specific technique, it has no name. I just let my body move in a way that felt natural and relaxed in order to play the songs.
