I make yellow pea soup. My partner makes green pea soup. I like both but she prefers the one she grew up with. It’s called snert in the Netherlands. I don’t put sugar in my dumplings so I must have been making doughboys. This looks great. Thanks.

Similar to my mother's fruitcake batter (before you add the sticky fake fruit bits), except she'd stir in a teaspoon of baking soda to the hot syrup. It adds flavor and foaminess to the batter.

Yes my grandmother's recipe is that.
I made a boiled fruitcake yesterday. The recipe stressed that the boiled fruit mixture had to cool completely before adding the flour mixture which had to be added to the fruit very slowly in batches. It was therefore cold when going into the oven, but it mixed beautifully with a wooden spoon. The cake was a beauty but it was a bit of a pain waiting around for the fruit to cool.

When I saw boiled cake I thought you were doing a raisin pudding or duff, boiled in a bag with a boiled dinner. I’ll have to try this.

I have a similar recipe and was planning to do it soon, but now am thinking of making yours instead, as it seems to be firmer in texture (which I like). By the way, I enjoy your videos, they give me the proper home kitchen vibe, which is refreshing to see. Caitlyn (if I'm spelling it right) was super cute with those chocolate chips, she reminded me of me when I spot the loose ones lying around while baking... straight into my mouth, lol. Goodness knows why, but it feels like a little bonus prize while baking. Oh, one tip on the video... we, the viewers, really, really like to see when the final product is cut and tasted. It gives the satisfactory conclusion to the video. A little close-up wouldn't hurt, either. I get that you are busy with the move, so absolutely not a critique on the video, just a notion ;) Good luck with moving, I hope everything goes best it can!

I make a Sourdough Sandwich bread with Spelt and Unbleached All-purpose flour combination. My husband has to watch his sugars so I started making it 3 years ago. If you do a bit of research on sourdough it explains how the way things made with starter does not spike sugars like regular 100% yeast base bread. If you should decide to make a starter as a way to raise bread and want a sandwich bread recipe let me know; I would be happy to share it.
