OK, here we have a "tech guy" who doesn't even understand that a Mac Mini in sleep mode consumes only a small fraction of a single watt per hour. The power required during the startup cycle exceeds his daily power savings by powering off the Mac Mini.

The bottom places power button is a non-issue for 99.9% of people. I can count on one hand with fingers left the number of times I have used the power button on any of my macs in the last year. I'd say the lack of USB type A is going to be a much bigger issue because most of the accessories out there are still USB-A.

the new mac mini doesn't really need the power button, its so power efficient that when you put it in sleep, its pretty much off anyways.. i tend to run my full desk through a UPS too so not really an issue as it uses the stored power on sleep rather than the outlet.. Plus it also supports wake on lan, so if you really wanted to remotely switch it on via ethernet you could.

If you have an M Series chip, there is not much of a reason to “upgrade” to me it Makes sense if you have an older Intel Mac. So me I guess, haha. I’m still using an intel MacBook Pro.

There's no need to turn this Mac off. Sleep is what MacOS is supposed to do and it will draw very little power. The only reason to turn off a Mac is if you're worried about power surges (e.g. lightening) in which case you should unplug it, or better yet use UPS with surge protection (which one should do anyone if your livelihood depends upon these things.)

Is there even one sentence in your video that was not cut into more parts? I do like your video overall, but my mind gets hyperstimulated by all these snaps and cuts. So I will definitely need a CPU and memory update :-)

going from M1 Pro to M4 Max - not because my M1 Pro is not fast enough as a laptop, but because I'm due to expense a machine for tax and also this will replace my DESKTOP this time around (which means better GPU and more RAM are nice)

sleeping Mac uses so little power you're probably wasting more power when you power it up to re-load everything back into cache, etc.

I atleast turn off my PC 2 times a day. To save electricity, and power cuts. Problem is companies does something unreasonable and people defend it instead of criticizing bad designs. Oh I don't need 3.5mm jack, I have tws I can't sense delay because I'm not slow. Oh I don't power off my pc electricity is unlimited and free, there's no powercut.

Bee-Link(SER7) has similar ports layout as a new Mac Mini, however it has power button in the front which is very convenience.

Windows XP must be reused and upgrade it keep the same settings and bought the features from windows 11 or windows 10 to xp like compatibility for programs and drivers

I currently have the Base M1 Mac Mini. After 4 years of use, memory swapping is now an issue. I'm running 15.2 Developer Beta (24C5057p) . I'm thinking it's whatever Apple Intelligence features that are on this build causing this. I never had this issue before. Anyway, I;m upgrading to the new Base M4 Pro Mac Mini. The only option I chose was the CPU/GPU upgrade to the 14/20 chipset . 24 Gb of Ram is more than I need for my use case. As far as storage goes, I currently have a 2Tb USB-C external SSD I have been using with my current Mac and M4 iPad Pro. I look forward to getting it set up. Power button is a non issue for me. 6.8 -7 watts at idle and 39 -100 watts peak is not that much compared to an Intel or AMD CPU and NVIDIA or AMD GPU. support.apple.com/en-us/103253

Honestly the power button placement is a non issue and if anything an upgrade to current condition. The previous placement was worse - it was very easy to hit the power button when it was a the back when you wanted to get something out of the usb ports for example (which were all at the back)

I pay 55c per kWhr where I live but with solar and batteries I haven’t paid an electricity bill in years and my system has already paid for itself so now it’s savings every month

$1299 for 16GB/512GB in Australia but in windows land you can get a mini pc with a ryzen 9, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD for that

Genuine dumb question from a not apple user, would one of these mini pcs be able to handle Procreate/animation and video rendering or are they more of a server based thingy?

I’m not really bothered by the position of the charging port for the reasons you listed. I’m just more annoyed by the ergonomics of using the mouse. It’s designed in a way where you can’t rest your hand on it properly like with every other mouse which makes it uncomfortable for most people to use. In my opinion, the Magic Mouse is the one Apple product that is in desperate need of a redesign, and Apple has refused to give it one for whatever reason.
