      Hi, the simulation results are visualized by creating .czml (cesium language) files. CZML is a data format for representing time-dynamic scenarios. This is then visualized using the Cesium virtual globe. Unfortunately, the UE currently does not support czml.

    Hi, I wonder how is it possible to determine road width if the width is changing along the way? Does the model have a segmentation for breakpoints where the roadwidth starts to chane and thereby it shows while clicking in the pop-up always the right current width value? Thank you.

      Hi, the information on road width is derived from an attribute contained within the NYC Street Centerline dataset (available at NYC Open Data Portal). This attribute was transferred to corresponding areal geometries, but should be interpreted as 'mean width'. Objects are not segmented based on changing widths of the areal geometries. In contrast, the attribute 'area_sqm' was calculated based on the actual areal geometries and thus reflects the area in sqm of each surface.

    Hi. Awesome work. Who did this NY Point cloud? I was reading about the researches and projects at TUM and 3DCtiyDB, but there wasn't any reference to the Point Cloud. Would be great to know more about it.

      Hi, thanks for your interest in our work! The following datasets are used: NYC Point Cloud: coast.noaa.gov/htdata/lidar1_z/geoid12b/data/4920/ Digital Orthoimagery of NYC: gis.ny.gov/gateway/mg/2016/new_york_city/ The colorization of the point cloud with RGB values from the images was realized using the software FME by Safe Software ( www.safe.com/ ) You can find resulting sample datasets here: github.com/tum-gis/cesium-point-cloud-generator/tree/master/data/sample_xyzRGB_data/small The ‘cesium point cloud generator’ ( github.com/tum-gis/cesium-point-cloud-generator ) is then used to convert the data. The generated point cloud datasets can then be visualized in a Cesium-based web client, such as the 3DCityDB Web Map Client ( www.3dcitydb.org/3dcitydb/ ). The resulting coloured point cloud is compared with CityGML LoD2 building models provided by the NYC DOITT. www1.nyc.gov/site/doitt/initiatives/3d-building.page For more information on the project visit the projects Wiki page: wiki.tum.de/display/gisproject/3D+City+Model+of+New+York+City

      Hi, first I created a mesh from point cloud data, then separated individual objects manually using the open source software 'Cloud Compare'. Next using the software 'FME' I transformed each object into CityGML compliant data. This data then can be visualized using the open source software '3DCityDB' by exporting the data to the KML/COLLADA/glTF format and visualizing the result using the '3DCityDB-Web-Map-Client'. You can find links to the used software in the desciption of the video.

      Since I don't know your data sources it is difficult to make a recommendation. In general 'CityGML' is the data format most widely used for city modelling. The 'CityGML UtilityNetworkADE' defines concepts for modelling different types of networks including telecommunication. (See: github.com/TatjanaKutzner/CityGML-UtilityNetwork-ADE ). Software to model this kind of data could be: ArcGIS Desktop: desktop.arcgis.com/en/ or FME: www.safe.com/ Both are commercial software but there are trail versions available.
