LEASHBAR - A NEW INNOVATION IN SURFBOARD TECHNOLOGY
To be frank with you, we think strings suck.
Tails of boards frequently get damaged through improper string installation, swivels don’t engage properly which makes leashes prone to tangling, and we’ve all been caught without a string at one (usually inopportune) time or another.
Leashbar entirely eliminates leash strings and allows you to mount your rail saver directly to your board... No strings attached!

This shows how smart surfers are. It took HOW LONG for us to figure this out?!?! 🤦
lame
So simple and clever, IF you need a leash. I remember the year 1246 when me and Bob surfed a beach near you and got pitted without any softies around us. No leashs needed. This generation is generation! Feel me!? Huh, looking foward to see where surfing will be in 3718!
If it was longer and curved it would allow the leash to pivot around a little to handle the pulling force even better and be able to more optimally distribute the leash saver over the rail. Right now the velcro in the leash saver is going to get mashed at steep angles and contact the rail sub optimally and possibly even twisted which seems flawed. Or just use a leash string of proper length.....becuase it literally costs a dollar. How much more does this cost to instal over a regular plug?
oh la la....
How is this going to prevent tombstoning? It's still set back from the edge of the tail...
No more tombstones? So what does this do different? I find that hard to believe......
Still better to just tie the rope between leash and plug shorter
The North Shore figured that problem out decades ago.
How?
Simple. Brilliant. Damn.
It’s about time and yes, why wasn’t this thought of decades ago?
Gime chansha!😂
Find a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.
finally...
It truly is amazing how slow technological development is in surfing.
Ther isn't anything to develop lol
Yeah, only took 50 years since leashes were invented.
You should have realized that stuff moves slow when people are still using wax that gets old, dirty and slippery, requires constant maintenance, melts off in your car, and they'll defend that "technology" to the grave...
Ok parko
Humans are great…we just do shit because that’s how it’s been done forever. And then something like this comes along and we are like, duh. Strong work friends. Since all my boards are custom I’m going seek some out for the future boards. TBH I’ve never broken one because I understand how to fasten a leash, but I wouldn’t mind not having to hunt down waxed chord or a shoe lace when I least expect to. 😂
or... just make sure your string is the right length so that the rail saver falls on the rail as intended. If anything, having the rail server tied this close to the board could cause your leash to cut through your board if your rail saver isn't long enough. At least with a string, things can be adjusted for each unique board and unique leash.
I don't understand how a bit of flimsy velcro is any different to a bit of string? What has actually changed?
You don’t need string, more shxt to break, and you won’t have the possibility of the chord cinching your tail and pulling through the deck.
@@ItsWesSmithYoif that happens you tied the cord wrong
@@joblo6394 you win the prize friend;)
@@ItsWesSmithYoThose cords never break.
@@AEVMU LOL, of course they do (or just come undone), esp. when people that don't know how to tie them tie them;)
How was this not a thing yet? Makes total sense.
You guys gonna make them for sale too or just put them on boards, if you do, would also prob need to come out with a way set up to make the hole, currently use fcs leash plugs and the make a hole saw and a jig
Kook cords are for wimps. Seems like today's surfers are all wimps.
enough over-hyped gimmicks. Lets get some companies focused on putting out durable boards under 500 dollars. the surfboard market is controlled by whoever can best justify the highest prices, rather than who can put out the best product at the best prices. and it seems like the surf world is pretty keen on progressive ideology... well 1200 dollars does not seem so inclusive to me
That’ll be pretty hard to do, I make my own boards and supplies usually cost $350-$500 depending on the board size, like 9’6” longboard easily cost $500 to make so getting the selling price down you’ll have to go to the suppliers, and making more durable will cost more cause the more and heavier fiberglass the more expensive or carbon fiber which requires special tools and equipment
@@jordanmorrow4757 500 was just an example, but even then that number is reasonable. For mass manufacturing, the price of supplies goes down below the average consumer rate. But even if not: innovation is a thing. Actual innovation. Not re-inventing the wheel for a problem that does not exist. Use new materials, different constructions. Where there is a will there is a way. I work in a surf shop. Boards are not going like they used to out the door, and these companies are pinholeing themselves by turning the competetive market into lazy price-justification over actual innovation. They are trying to sell names and gimmicks, not products
That’s called catch surf. That’s your entry level board, and tbh beyond. I love my customs but I used a pink JOB fish the other day and it kinda rocks. 😂
@@ItsWesSmithYo Surftech foam, odysea, wavestorm are all selling boards massively. For every 10 softboards we sell, we sell 1 hardboard at the shop. Thats a good example of innovating, why cant the same be done but for hard boards?
Dane missed this design improvement option.
Very nice commercial
This is brilliant and should have been done 20 years ago. So sick!!!
They lost me at the paying $1300 for a short board part🤦♂️
probly Auzzie $$$
That's still insanely expensive
Just hope manufacturers put it close enough to the tail for the rail saver to be on the rail rather than the hard plastic connecting the swivel to the leash cord. You can adjust your leash string to avoid that causing rail dings but with this design you're stuck.
Pretty cool!
Hmm, needs a built in Vent too. And phone charger port in plug also
You dream it, we'll design it
don't forget the cup holder
Apple tag holder
My best friend blew out my tail yesterday 🥵
It's 2024, do what you gotta do we aren't here to judge
Nothin suss😂
What you do behind closed doors is nobody else's business
Nah mate its a leggie bar
Yeah nah nah yeah
great idea but I wonder how long for the velcro to start losing grip overtime till you lose your board on a wipeout
You clearly don't surf
@@MrDaanram an why is that? you tried this new system?
Because the leash velcro isn't changing. It's the old-school leash plug that involves a leash string that is changing. The triple velcro of modern leashes works fine and hold up to years and years of abuse. When a leash breaks off, it's many times the leash snapping itself or the leash plug ripping through the board.
Majority of legrope companies have a Velcro-less section where the rail saver would over lap the Leggie string or in this case the Leash bar. There’s no chance of that high density weave section getting frayed in either instance.
@@eddyhamaty2101 if you’re responding to me, my reply was in response to hbr6545 as they seem confused about the new leash plug (they think it has to do with the Velcro). My experience with leg ropes are the same as you: they either snap or the Velcro wears off over time. Cheers mate.
