this was a nice ebay buy, soundbox I'm not too sure who made it, but there is a lovely sound from it that the phone does not do it justice, I fit a new spring into this and cleaned the motor up ( grease was caked on this one )

had to make my own rubber for the exhibition soundbox, I made a mold on the back of the soundbox, and used silicone to keep the brass ring attached to the back, I think it sounds great for a hundred and four year old 😀

    Hi Frank, I just bought one of these Columbia machines. I love it! I repaired the frozen tone arm, and now I’m researching motors. Thank you for posting……

      Hi Lori, I absolutely love these machines too, there is a lot of information on youtube regarding repairing and fixing these motors, and other gramophone motors, If your gonna strip one to rebuild, I find taking pics every step of the way helps, plus at every step take notes, and catalogue your screws, nuts, parts etc. The springs can be tough to take out and put back in, and unless you know what's gonna happen can be quite a daunting task, also you will need grease and a kind of typewriter oil, be careful with the governor weights and springs, make sure motorspring is fully used before attempting to take apart, enjoy your gramophone, and if you have any questions I'd be more than happy to answer ( presuming I would know the answer ) 👍

      @@Frank-od6zt Thank you Frank, you’re a wealth of knowledge! So far I’m babying the motor along and not playing more than 2 or 3 records at a time. I’m on the hunt for more machines…….I’ve got the bug now!

      She's so well built, probably too much grease on her, but very happy how she turned out. Will post video when she'd back in her office

    Interesting machine and nice record. I have a Celebro portable which has a very similar soundbox/reproducer. Thanks 😀 👍

      I don't think there are many of these about ( could be wrong ) the company was only around for ten years. The sounbox is fabulous but it needs some work, I have zero experience with the sounbox or the wooden tone arm, so am a bit wary of jumping in yet

      @mrrgstuff 2 роки тому

      @@Frank-od6zt I think you are right. I bought my Celebro as I thought the chances of finding another one was slim, it's only a portable and is unremarkable other than the soundbox. You machine is much more impressive. Sound is good, though I think your soundbox does need rebuilding. I see the back gaskets are also available on that famous auction site 😉. Thanks 😀 👍

      I cut an 11/2 or 2"" waste pie down to 1/2 inch, and it fit nicely over the back of the soundbox, then I put the brass ri g in the centre. I used silicone to fix the brass ring to the soundbox leaving the two screws in for more grip. Looks a bit rough but I was very happy with the result

    Hi mrrgstuff, I've changed them settings now, thanks a mill, I have picked up some nice and some dilapidated ones, this blue one- the rexcine was completely wasted away, so I recovered in this colour ( it can always go back to black ) I have another 102 that the case and rexcine is in real bad shape, and if I come across the right wood, I think I'll make the case myself and stain it, will see. Thanks again

    Hi Frank. Interesting videos. For some reason UA-cam has disabled comments on lots of your videos, like the cut down HMV you recently posted. It looks like they are set to made for kids. Thanks 👍😀
