So I measured carefully and my new floor vent/register is slightly different and won't fit in. It's 3 x 10 inches. My old ones fit well. Same size.

Okay but it's not the same size. I use 20x 20 filters. And the hole in my ceiling is at least 22 x 22. I'm so confused. My ceiling just has a hole and I'm lacking the grill and frame. I've never been able to find answers on how to get a new one and I'm really suffering because I don't know what to get and can't install it myself. I have to duct tape my filter to the ceiling every time and it's becoming really stressful. Please I'd really appreciate some help. I've called several HVAC places and no one will help me.
I will also add that I don't have a normal ceiling that can be drilled into. The ceiling is made from loose panels that just sit there and there are metal bars surrounding the place where the frame would go.
