I'm 74. I have lived alone without my precious mum for 23 years. We lived together, with my two young daughters, i cared for my mum, along with my children and still miss her terribly. My daughters have three children each and since they all arrived i have cared for them all. I'd finish work at 12pm and collect them from child minders then spend afternoons caring for them all. Taking them swimming, parks, walks, teaching them to ride bikes etc etc. They are all now grown, four working one uni one yr 6. My daughters and son in laws have helped me through difficult times. One invited me to live with them, but i refused. I spend many happy hours in their company and helping out. I know God has blessed me and My health is very good for 74 and i'm still able to live very independantly. None of these believe ANY of my money or posessions are theirs to inherit. I have always led them to know it's mine and i can do as i choose with it, i've even been encouraged to do so. Its not only the fault of children when life goes bad, parents are their teachers!!

I can't listen to this video. Some families can be so mean to their parents. I don't feel old, I'm 73 still do my own housework. But thinking about joining my daughters home is not a possibility. I can't live in chaos or hearing people shouting. Everyone assumes that you're deaf if you're older and they raise their voices to you. Bad stereotype. I picked wives poorly but was a divinely guided expert T catching them cheat and then divorced. I had given up. Retired to South Pacific at 50. I had more sleep overs and affairs than I can count.Finally I met a girl I couldn't catch cheating or lying. We moved in for 8 years until I believed in her and married her. Met her at 20, me 60.I looked 40. 5years married and she and her family all attentive and watching over me. I will never need a nursing home. 73, she's 33. Now I look 65 and she looks 25 hehee. She raises chickens pigs. Cows, fruit trees, veggies and bakes cakes for weddings and birthdays. I'm just a retired RN enjoying life...a life never dreamed of.

You cannot have everything when you wanted. You live a good life in France. Don't break up your sons marriage. Learn to live independently as you were not there for them. Give them time. Live close by to them so you can built up your relationship. Not It's about you all the time. Give them a break. Your daughter in law needs a break too.
