Spring 2020 5280 Angler Video Fishing Report
"public water" kinda sad that there is such a name. good report!
Just saw this and will try . As a surgeon I am definitely faster with hemostat. Thanx!!!
Great video Jeremy! I’ve always wanted to try fly fishing! I make fishing videos too and I always love watching yours!! Keep up the awesome job mate!! 🤜🤛💪
Thanks for posting these!!
0:20 the dumbest picture in fly fishing... the fly rod in the mouth
Hey Jeremy, this is Dan (Genos Son) great report. Wish I was there with y’all. You guys have the dream job. Your channel is very informative. Keep up the great work.
Way to go dudes. Best guide service in Colorado. Keep up the great work.
great report!
At dream, hoppers in afternoon, white streamers in morning.
Excellent. Thanks.
Great job on the video Ben & 5280 Angler. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Thank you Mauritz's for having us out to your wonderful fishing haven (aka Heaven).
Fantastic presentation. Expect to be receiving a call from the folks at 60 minutes....thanks....Dan
Interesting. When I do a dropper off a barbless hook bend I sometimes lose the bottom fly. For barbless hooks I would tie the dropper on the hook eye instead.
Thanks Jeremy! See June 8th @ Boxwood!!!
Always good to get your reports, Jeremy! Abell River Ranch sounds like a fantastic stretch.
Thanks Jeremy
Nice report! Thanks for sharing.
Nice report Jeremy! I definitely will use this for my upcoming visit to Deckers.
Thanks Nicci. Have fun out there and good luck.
Great report
Dream has been a ghost town...
And for good reason. Good time to give it a rest.
Great Report. Thanks Jeremy.
Gavin Wolfe, the point of this particular report is not to tell you an exact spot to fish downstream from Deckers and/or Trumbull. Rather, it's to point out that there are great fish throughout the ENTIRE system. So, if you see a spot that looks good, stop and fish it. It's likely a good spot with nice fish in it. Good luck out there and thanks for watching.
Thanks Jeremy. The Bob Ross of Fly Fishing
Thanks for info
lovely video mate. check out my vids when you can and if you like subscribe that would be great ill do the same
Thanks for the report. I fished the Williams Fork today and got skunked with a capital S! I should have just went to Deckers. The crowd was just as bad.
I was down on the 8th and had a pretty good morning, until the thingamabobber hatch began. Haha. First time fishing the South Platte, Deckers area, and boy, does that water get hammered hard. I was able to pick off two rainbows that day over 20" so I was a happy man. Does the late fall / winter time get as much pressure?
Chris Kladky unfortunately it is a well loved river. With the recent population growth of Colorado we have seen a significant increase in angler traffic year round. However, as the saying goes "If you can catch fish on the South Platte, you can catch them anywhere". So, good job getting a couple.
Great video. Thank you for the reports.
It sounds like a great time...
Would you use these flies at waterton canyon ?
Love the new truck.
looking forward to our trip with you 7/11!
So looking forward to our trip with you guys in July!!
Does the stonefly float? No split shot to get the nymphs down or does the egg get the job done? Thanks for these videos. I am in Colorado for one more day - today was a big bummer on the Deckers for me.
These are all great questions! Don't get discouraged - The South Platte is a very technical fishery! To answer your questions, the stonefly pattern doesn't float - they actually are quite hefty. In front of the stonefly, approximately the distance from your elbow to your finger tips, you'll want to attach the split shot - the size depends upon water depth and pace of the current - as you noticed there are some shallow riffles and deep pools. You can scope out a video where Jeremy builds a three fly rig here: 5280angler.com/jeremy-hamiltons-video-fishing-update-how-to-build-a-three-fly-tandem-nymph-rig/. Also, check out our blog at 5280angler.com for more information as well. If you want to get out with one of our guides for a full or half day, or have any other quesions, give us a call at 720-450-7291 or e-mail info@5280angler.com Thanks! Good luck out there tomorrow!
Thanks man!! I'm excited to give it one last go tomorrow evening.
Never would have thought about having three flys on the same rig. thanks!
Multi-fly rigs are a great way to serve up a bug buffet and cover the water column - works great - be sure to check local regulations with regard to how many are allowed in your area. Also, be sure to crimp all the barbs, and have fun out there! Thanks for checking our our fishing reports!
great report. glad to see them coming back after the winter hiatus.
Thanks Adam! We're pumped to see Jeremy out of hibernation as well! Good luck out there!
Go dad
do you fish for catfish?
Reginald Cates we do not fish for catfish. We are primarily trout fishing guides in the rivers of Colorado. Occasionally we'll go after carp, but not cats.
yall are great guids
Pass it on1
Never thought of throwing an Amy's Ant to imitate golden stones. Hopefully will get a chance to try it out this week. Thanks for the tip!
Memories of Boxwood snow. :-)
Great report, thanks for the information. Been out with you before and you guys are great!
Nicely done, like your reports a lot. Very informative.
