    Well done! My copy of TGG is only 163 pages long, not 400. But the word "unexpected" really does appear twice in the project gutenberg copy. Nice work.

    Why make a big deal about him being in a chair. It didn't add or take away from the trick at all. Just acknowledge his ability.

    This was a beautiful trick in itself and his delivery was great. I'm having a debate with myself on whether or not to learn this trick or just appreciate it. On the one hand this seems like a fun trick to do with my friends, on the other hand I've seen what happens when you learn the method behind the magic and it loses the spark.

    Didn't Laura pick the number 6? And wasn't David then asked to pick a word that has 6 letters? Unexpected has more than 6... Unless I missed something...

    So many magicians lack the ability to tell a story the way you did. That really made the performance. Excellent work.

    The fact that you don't touch any of the props makes this very entertaining. You just talk them through it and bingo.

    The only way I could think of how to do this trick would be to memorize every instance of the word "unexpected" and then just know how to get to navigate to any of them with a series of 3 or 4 numbers. But since that would be an insane amount of memorization, I have a feeling the trick is much more elegant

    I love Mentalism because all of the effects usually blow your mind. But once you understand a few simple concepts you can figure it out pretty easy. Still a great trick.

    Hmmm the word "unexpected" does not seem random, it fits the story. So I would rule out any trickery with the paper in the bottle. But then... he can't just have the same word on the first line of every page of every book, can he? Well, actually he could have printed 4 cusom books like it.. he did not ask David to verify that if they chose different page he would have different word there.... but it's still suspicious to do it like that. But how would he force the number 174 then?

    (Unexpected) isn't a 6 letter word. More importantly, that word isn't anywhere on page 174 or 175. So was the guy in on it? Don't get me wrong, I liked the trick.

    • @rudicaV
      @rudicaV 2 роки тому

      He said "at least six letters". The exact words on a particular number page will of course vary with the specific printing/reprinting and format.

    • @michaelg3088
      @michaelg3088 2 роки тому

      @@rudicaV He said to her, a number between 1 and 10. She responded with 6. He did say at least 6 letters, not at least 10. Regardless, unexpected is not on either of those pages. I checked that specific book out. I still liked the trick, regardless.
