I'm so curious about the Mourning Sun album! My favourites of the year are Visions of Atlantis (symphonic), Elvellon (symphonic), Anciients (sludgy prog, blew me away this one), Blazing Eternity (imagine if 2000s piano rock bands made a death doom album), Cemetery Skyline (gothic rock with Mikael Stanne from dark tranquillity on vocals), Imminence (metalcore with violin but way more violin and symphonic than their previous album; I didn't think they can top Heaven in Hiding but here we are), The Lightbringer (bunch of nerds making symphonic power black metal, it's amazing), The Mist from the Mountains (melodic black metal with long tracks that are actually worth it and not just filler), Odious (symphonic death metal with egyptian folk elements; enjoyed this exponentially more than their previous outings), and finally, Yasru (Folk doom metal from Turkey, quite unique. reminiscent of Apocalypse Orchestra). Ooop guess I rambled 😲 Anyway, I always look forward to your end of year list, thank you for this!

Ascension - Dream State Armageddon stands out as very atmospheric to me. But I'm not sure if you mean something different with atmospheric? Oh yeah you mentioned In All Conscience also and I think that is another one that stands out in that way for me. All of them are written by Rob if I'm not mistaken so I definitely think that's a Rob vibe.

They have a new lead singer. Who is from Bramley in Leeds. He replaces the original lead singer. New album out next year. Also check out Psyclona from Bradford west Yorkshire. They are really good. Mixing stoner.desert rock with psychedelia and doom. They come from the village of idle and surrounding areas . Which are in the area of Bradford where I reside. Keep up the good work buddy. Here's some thoughts. Between "Sayonara" and "What We Used To Be"...and also that, if memory serves me correctly, the band is moving away from their all-white outfits that they used while performing live...it feels like they may be setting things up for a new and different chapter. And, if this is a new chapter, I wonder if they would open up their catalog and reinterpret some of their existing music while performing live. The possibilities are endless. And one other thing. Instead of drinking the water (?), wouldn't it have been easier and more effective to just pour it over your head to cool off? 😅
